A masterpiece from the Argentine after 13 minutes and a response in stoppage time from the Grifone after Ramòn was sent off. First goal of the season for the Rossoblù

It looked like it was done and dusted. Nico Paz had once again made waves on the shores of the lake. His gem, not uncommon given how often he produces them, did not earn Como the three points that would have put them in 5th place alongside Roma and Milan. A masterpiece that came from a turn just outside the area that threw off the three defenders who were marking him, giving him the space he needed to send a powerful left-footed shot into the corner. Genoa earned a draw with a determined comeback, even though Ekuban’s goal came only in the 92nd minute after Ramòn was sent off a moment earlier and without any scoring chances in the previous 45 minutes.
Fabregas started with Morata at center forward and Caqueret in midfield, while Vieira (who was a teammate of the Como coach at Arsenal) was looking for his first goal of the season, with Colombo starting, Sabelli on the bench, and Stanciu and Valentin Carboni also on the bench. The first thrill was unintentionally caused by Morata with a decisive tackle in midfield that sent the ball flying towards Butez’s goal, forcing him to retreat quickly to avoid a sensational own goal. Nico Paz is on another planet: in the 13th minute, he receives the ball, beats three opponents with a sudden change of direction, then charges forward with his left foot and sends the ball into the corner. The Ligurians are overly aggressive, committing seven fouls in less than 20 minutes. Ostigard receives a yellow card for a hard tackle on Morata. Genoa’s reaction is timid and poses no threat to Butez. At the half-hour mark, Como comes close to doubling their lead: Vojvoda launches the ball to Kuhn, who finds himself alone in front of Leali, but the goalkeeper blocks his shot and Morata misses the open goal. In the 34th minute, Grifone had their first chance: Colombo received the ball in the box from Malinovskyi, but his shot was saved by Butez, as were subsequent shots from Ellertsson and Masini by the Como defense. Morata then missed another chance to double the lead after a pass from Kuhn, shooting wide. At halftime, Como deservedly led.

Second half—Genoa came out of the locker room aggressively and put Como in difficulty, who struggled to restart their build-up play from the back. The Grifone raised their center of gravity, but the visitors’ dominance was sterile without a real point of reference in the box. After 12 minutes, Vieira brought on Messias for Sabelli with Norton-Cuffy dropping back. In the 65th minute, Fabregas responds by bringing on Perrone and Douvikas in place of Morata and Da Cunha. Como comes close to doubling their lead with a shot from Vojvoda that is too central and is saved by Leali. For the final quarter of an hour, Vieira replaced Malinovskyi and Ellertsson with Ekuban and Valentin Carboni. Como countered with Addai and Sergi Roberto for Kuhn and Caqueret. Fabregas focused on defending the lead, and his team did so with great discipline, taking no risks. Colombo made way for Ekhator in the 80th minute, with Jesus Rodriguez replacing Baturina shortly after. Genoa continued to press, winning corners (7-1) but never finishing on goal. Como were reduced to 10 men with two minutes to go after a decisive tackle by Ramòn on Messias following a quickly taken free kick by the Grifone, which the referee was about to retake. The sending-off was then confirmed by VAR. Play resumed and Genoa equalized. Norton-Cuffy played the ball in, Sergi Roberto deflected it into his own net, and Ekuban pounced on the ball to score the equalizer in the 92nd minute. Grifone’s first goal of the season was worth a precious point. For Como, it was a game of many regrets.
