London derby with exciting signs
There are many Derbies in London in the course of a Premier League season. However, direct city duels between two Champions League participants will be counted on one hand or even just two fingers in the current season. These are the two matches between Chelsea and Tottenham. The first of these will take place at Stamford Bridge late on Sunday afternoon from 5:30 p.m.
Two winners of the first matchday will also be facing each other. The Blues narrowly won 1-0 at Everton, while Spurs were convincing in their 4-1 home win over Southampton, mainly thanks to an outstanding attacking performance.
Both teams therefore go into this prestigious capital derby with self-confidence and a good feeling, which of course does not make it any easier to make a prediction on the three-way market between Chelsea and Tottenham.
Although the odds are leaning towards the Tuche side ahead of the Chelsea vs Tottenham encounter due to the home advantage, slight advantages may even be discernible for the Lily Whites. Coach Antonio Conte’s team has made targeted reinforcements in the summer and is now eager to end its seven-game winless streak in England’s top division against its upcoming opponents. It would also be Spurs’ 100th derby win in the Premier League – a mark only Chelsea and Arsenal have managed to break to date.
Chelsea – Statistics & current form
In terms of results, Chelsea Football Club’s start to the new season went absolutely according to plan. The Blues won 1-0 at Everton and celebrated their first victory in their first league match. Nevertheless, the positive result should not hide the fact that the Londoners put in a weak performance, were too unimaginative in their forward play and ultimately only kept the upper hand thanks to a penalty by Jorginho.
In a way, this confirmed the impression from the far from flawless preparation, in which, among other things, a test match against Arsenal was lost with 0:4 or the former Champions League winner did not get beyond a draw after regular playing time against the MLS club from Charlotte.
In addition, it must be mentioned that Tuchel would have liked to bring in even more new arrivals in the summer. Admittedly, the ex-Dortmunder is complaining at an extremely high level here, as three top players were signed in Sterling, Koulibaly and Cucurella.
Chelsea must hone their attacking game
With the top-of-the-table clash against their city rivals looming, the Blues must now be careful not to slip back into a negative spiral. Chelsea lost two of the last three derbies at home and conceded a total of eight goals. Another interesting fact is that the club from the Fulham district has already played the first home game of a new league season against Spurs three times. Twice they lost out. A bad omen for Sunday?
Regardless of whether the Tuchel team manages to record its second win in the second game, it can be assumed that at least the offensive will be more effective this time. While the Toffees attacked very compactly and with many legs the previous week, there should now be more space against a team that plays much more courageously forward. This tactical prediction provides a solid argument for betting on both teams to score in the Chelsea vs Tottenham clash.
The German coach is unlikely to make any changes in terms of personnel. Only Cucurella could make his debut on the left side in the 3-4-2-1 system, as Ben Chilwell is to be brought in gently after a long injury. Koulibaly had to be substituted in the previous week, plagued by cramps, but should be fit in time. Offensively, Broja has recommended himself for higher duties after coming on as a substitute, although we expect three flexible attackers to start up front again in Sterling, Havertz and Mount.

Tottenham – Statistics & current form
Spurs have been very conscientious in their reinforcements and are also banking on the fact that Antonio Conte has managed to improve a team and instil the necessary winning mentality at each of his stops so far.
The Londoners were already convincing on the first matchday. At home against Southampton, the Lily Whites won 4:1 and presented themselves in a really good early form. If they can build on that performance at Stamford Bridge, we think it’s not unlikely that a double chance X2 prediction will pay off between Chelsea and Tottenham.
Kane looks to net again against the Blues
Only the truly abysmal record at the city rivals raises negative eyebrows. Tottenham have only won one of their last 37 games at Chelsea. In the Premier League, Spurs have been waiting for a win in seven direct duels.
Six of these seven matches have even been lost. However, the constellation in the most recent encounters has rarely been like it is now. For me, Harry Kane and Co. are therefore even slightly favoured, which results in a decent value in the DNB bet on the away win.
Speaking of Harry Kane: The English national team captain is a real derby expert. The attacker has already scored 41 goals in London city duels. Only a certain Thierry Henry (43) scored more often. A small drop of bitterness: Kane has now waited five Premier League games for a goal against Chelsea.
Can he end this personal drought on Sunday? We will definitely see the captain starting. However, Richarlison, who was suspended last matchday, returns to the line-up as a real weapon. Even as a wild card, he can make his mark on a game.
