Is Barça’s away misery coming to an end? Lucrative odds on Barça win

In the Champions League, Barcelona picked up an important win during the week, can Barça now follow that up in La Liga? The Blaugrana visit Celta Vigo on matchday 13 at 16:15 on Saturday – truly not an easy away game.

This is also reflected in the odds ahead of the match between Celta Vigo and Barcelona.

It is not too often that FC Barcelona have odds of over 2.00 in a game in La Liga that is not at or against Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. Now it is happening again. With Celta Vigo vs. Barcelona, a tip on the away win for the visitors in the three-way brings a whopping 2.20 at the top – pretty lucrative value, we think.

Barça have been lurching through the competitions since the start of the season, and even worse: they have struggled especially away from home. In addition, guest games at Celta Vigo are particularly burdensome for the Blaugrana. However, the Galicians have made a rather toothless and disappointing start to the season – so a little crisis duel will take place on Saturday afternoon at the Estadio Balaidos.

Celta Vigo – Statistics & current form

Normally, Celta Vigo would be a fearful opponent of FC Barcelona, at least when the trip to the Balaidos is on the cards. Of the last ten home games against Barcelona, Celta have lost only three, with four draws and three Celta wins.

Overall, Celta have had as many home wins (21) as home defeats against Barça, with 16 draws in a total of 58 La Liga home games against the Catalans. Given this, it is therefore rather unsurprising that the betting odds on Celta Vigo vs. Barcelona are endowed with over 2.00 on the visitors’ victory.

Going to the Balaidos is traditionally a tough one for Barça – usually. But this year, the Galicians are far less fearsome at home. Because: Celta is La Liga’s weakest team at home! Five of their six home games have been lost, with only one win and a goal difference of 3:8. No team has scored fewer home points, no team has scored fewer home goals.

Hard home games for Celta – and heaps of home defeats

It has to be said, though, that Celta have hosted many top-eight teams so far. So far, there have been defeats against Atletico Madrid (1:2), Athletic Bilbao (0:1), Sevilla (0:1) and Real Sociedad (0:1) – and a bitter 1:2 against Cadiz, the only opponent on paper that seemed more than feasible.

So now Barça are guests at the Balaidos – will the next defeat follow or can Celta, currently in a disappointing 15th place and once again facing a relegation battle, record their second home win of the season?

If you are betting on the more than passable home record against Barça being further improved, you can get odds of 3.30 on average on Celta Vigo vs. Barcelona to win at home. There are a few reasons to bet on this one.

Barcelona – Statistics & current form

The best reason to predict a home win for Celta Vigo vs. Barcelona – besides Barça’s aforementioned difficulties to compete at the Balaidos: the Catalans’ away weakness this season.

Barça have yet to win a game away from home! Five teams in Spain’s top division are still winless away from home, Barcelona is one of them (along with Getafe, Levante, Espanyol and Villarreal). Almost worse: Barça have only scored one goal in foreign stadiums – this was scored in the 1:1 in Bilbao on matchday 2.

In general, Barcelona has been waiting for a win in La Liga for three games now. At least Barça was able to gain a little self-confidence in the Champions League during the week, when they were able to win an enormously important game at Dynamo Kiev by just 1-0. But even then it was clear how difficult it is for Barça to score in away games, especially when the opposition is defensively solid.

Away weak Barça has big injury problems

Those who regularly follow Barça’s games live this season would not necessarily be surprised by a draw at the Balaidos on Saturday. Therefore, it may well be natural to tip the scoreline at Celta Vigo vs Barcelona.

To make matters worse, Barcelona continue to have massive injury problems. In addition to defender Gerard Piqué, Pedri, Sergi Roberto (all with muscle injuries) and strikers Sergio Agüero and Martin Braithwaite, Celta are now without Sergiño Dest and Ousmane Dembélé – although the latter had just celebrated his comeback against Kiev after months of absence. That doesn’t make it any easier for the Blaugrana to win their first away game.

Predicted line-up of Barcelona:
Ter Stegen – Mingueza, Garcia, Lenglet, Alba – Busquets, De Jong, Gavi, Coutinho – Depay, Fati

Celta Vigo – Barcelona Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

Last season Barça were lucky to win at the Balaidos, 3-0 on Matchday 4 in November 2020. It was the visitors’ first win in Galicia after six competitive games without a win at Celta (Copa del Rey last 16 included).

As mentioned, Celta always seem to be particularly hot at home against Barcelona, with very few La Liga teams Barça do not have a positive away record against (21 wins to 21 defeats).

Celta Vigo – Barcelona Tip

Not a single away win yet, only 9th in the league, in crisis for weeks and currently looking for a coach: The omens for FC Barcelona before going to the unloved Estadio Balaidos are not exactly favourable.

And yet there are two small encouragements: the important 1-0 win in Kiev in the Champions League and Celta’s disastrous home record this season.

Even though a draw would be anything but surprising for us, we are betting on a win for the Catalans. Against the weakest team in the league at home, which is also generally playing a disappointing season so far, it could finally work out with the first away win for Barça. With odds of over 2.00, making a prediction on Celta Vigo vs. Barcelona also offers very interesting value for us.
