When will Cadiz score first?

A good start to a new season is worth its weight in gold and can carry a club through a whole season. On the other hand, a series of failures can quickly land you in the valley of tears and perhaps even write off an entire season early on. The latter could possibly be the case for Cadiz CF. The Andalusians are currently the most unsuccessful team in the European top leagues.

In numbers, that means Sergio Gonzalez Soriano’s side are dragging the red lantern in La Liga after four matchdays with four defeats and without a goal of their own. On Saturday, FC Barcelona, a top club, will be expected at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla and it is to be feared from the underdog’s point of view that the previous record will become even worse.

The Blaugrana cannot complain about their start to the season. After four matchdays, the Catalans have ten points and 11:1 goals on the clock. That means second place at the moment. Only Real Madrid is still ahead of Barca. The disparity in their early-season records makes it abundantly clear that the only prediction you can make in the Cadiz vs. Barcelona clash is for an away win.

When you look at the differences between the Andalusians and the Catalans at the moment, it could even be a very bitter day for the Pirates.

Cadiz – Statistics & current form

The Andalusians have big problems in attack. However, there are still options on the transfer market that might be viable. Cadiz, for example, are on the verge of reactivating former international Diego Costa. The attacker, who last played for Athletico Mineiro in Brazil, has been without a club since January. That’s why he might even be able to help the La Liga bottom team right away.

You can’t start worse than this

However, he is not yet an option for the weekend and so coach Sergio Gonzalez Soriano must look to somehow make a stand against the overmatched visitors. Four games, four defeats is a record that must be improved as quickly as possible. For us, however, it sounds like it would make sense to play the odds on an away win for the Catalans without conceding a goal between Cadiz and Barcelona.

After losing only 1-0 to Real Sociedad and 2-0 at Osasuna in their first two games, they now don’t seem to be putting up much of a fight. They lost 4-0 at home to Bilbao and last week they were beaten 3-0 in Vigo. If this continues, coach Sergio Gonzalez Soriano could soon be history in Cadiz.

The Andalusians have to do something, have to change something. Of course, that could mean that Sergio Gonzalez Soriano puts his trust in other offensive forces. But it could also mean that the Pirates will try a completely different tactic. With Jon Ander Garrido and Ruben Alcaraz, however, at least two injured players will not be available.

Barcelona – Statistics & current form

While the transfer window was open, FC Barcelona produced plenty of negative headlines. Salary sacrifice and selling against the will of some no longer welcome players have been the topics as the Catalans seem to continue to live beyond their means. In the meantime, there are again positive stories to report from the Blaugrana, and these come exclusively from the sporting sphere.

Catalans still unbeaten

The Catalans have played five competitive games this season and are still unbeaten. Most recently, there have even been three wins in a row with at least a three-goal difference. Two of these victories were in La Liga and one in the Champions League. It sounds like you can predict a clear handicap victory for the Blaugrana in the match between Cadiz and Barcelona.

On Wednesday, FC Barcelona delivered a magnificent game offensively in the Champions League, but also had problems here and there at the back. The match was already over at the break with a score of 3:1. After 90 minutes it was 5:1. Robert Lewandowski was the man of the evening with three goals. Franck Kessie and Ferran Torres were also successful.

Lewandowski is also the leading scorer in La Liga. So far, the transfer of the Pole seems to be paying off for the Catalans. In the coming week, Barca must play FC Bayern in the top flight. Therefore, there will certainly be a larger rotation in the starting eleven. Coach Xavi Hernandez can apparently draw on a full complement of players.

Predicted line-up of Barcelona:
ter Stegen – Alba, Pique, Christensen, Roberto – Busquets, Pedri, Gavi – Fati, Dembele, Lewandowski – Coach: Hernandez

08/09/2022 – FC Barcelona 5 – 1 Viktoria Pilsen

Cadiz – Barcelona Direct comparison / H2H balance

Cadiz is not a club that can be counted among the permanent fixtures in the Spanish top flight, at least not yet. Every now and then, however, the Andalusians have managed to play first-class football. The total number of games between Cadiz and Barcelona is therefore 28. The direct comparison is very clear for the Catalans with 19:4 wins and five draws.

However, that is only half the truth, because the Blaugrana have been waiting for a win against Cadiz for four games. Last season, the two rivals initially parted with a goalless draw in Andalusia. Then something astonishing happened in the second leg. At the Nou Camp, Cadiz won 1-0 after a goal by Lucas Perez and historically claimed their first away win at FC Barcelona.

Cadiz – Barcelona Tip

Who would have thought that in the match between Cadiz and Barcelona there could well be a statistic that casts doubt on the Catalans’ away victory? The Andalusians have not lost to the Catalans for four games and even managed an away win at the Nou Camp last season. But that’s it for the facts that speak for a home win.

Cadiz have had a disastrous start to the season and have lost all of their first four games in La Liga. Sergio Gonzalez Soriano’s side have not even managed to score a goal of their own.

The Blaugrana are still unbeaten this season and have won three in a row recently, each time with at least a three-goal difference. So one may think about placing a bet on a handicap win for the Catalans. However, given the Andalusians’ goal drought, we have decided to play the betting odds on a win to nil for the visitors between Cadiz and Barcelona.
