Will the Reds celebrate the championship at home against BVB?
On the 31st matchday of the Bundesliga, FC Bayern could wrap up their tenth German championship in a row. On this matchday, of all days, the Reds play at home in the Allianz Arena against their rivals Borussia Dortmund. The black-and-yellow team is nine points behind FC Bayern and has a goal difference that is 27 points worse, which is why the Munich team should officially pop the champagne corks in the event of a home win and unofficially in the event of a draw.
Of course, the German classic, which is the top match of the week on Saturday evening, overshadows the other matchday 31 pairings. Nevertheless, excitement is guaranteed in the other stadiums as well. For example, in the clash between RB Leipzig and Union Berlin, who are looking to secure important points in league play for a place in European competition just three days after their close encounter in the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal.
Meanwhile, a real showdown in the relegation battle will take place on Sunday when Hertha BSC (15th) host VfB Stuttgart (16th). Whoever wins this match will land a “big point” in terms of staying in the relegation zone. Both teams could possibly be under pressure if Arminia Bielefeld (17th) score in Cologne on Saturday and advance accordingly. Meanwhile, the relegation of bottom-placed Greuther Fürth could also be irrevocably sealed if the Franconians lose at home to Leverkusen. That makes a total of nine top-class matches for which Bundesliga betting odds and tips are available on this page on matchday 31.
Wolfsburg vs. Mainz – 22 April, 20:30
VfL Wolfsburg are still not out of the woods. The Lower Saxons occupy 13th place in the table with 34 points and are six points clear of the relegation place with four matchdays to go in the season.
A home win over the Nullfünfer, who have produced little on the road this season, would be correspondingly important. The Rheinhessen side have already lost eleven games away from home. Only Fürth lost more often away from home (12x) and scored fewer away points (only three) than Mainz (eight).
The only question is whether the Wolves will be able to capitalise on the away weakness of their guests. After all, VfL have lost four of their last five league games and are not in very good form. Accordingly, betting tips on the outcome of Friday night’s match are complicated in the Bundesliga on matchday 31. Instead, betting on less than 2.5 goals offers considerably more value.
RB Leipzig vs. Union Berlin – 23 April, 15:30
Just on Wednesday evening, RB Leipzig and 1. FC Union Berlin delivered a hot fight in the semi-final of the DFB Pokal at the Red Bull Arena, at the end of which the Saxons had the luckier hand. For a long time, the team from Köpenick did not let anything happen defensively and deserved to be in the lead before RBL equalised with a penalty and then scored the “lucky punch” shortly before the final whistle. Now, of course, the Eisern are looking for revenge.
We can very well imagine that the encounter between two Bundesliga teams in good form – both have won their last three league games in a row – will once again be on an equal footing. There is a lot of value in betting on the 31st matchday in the Bundesliga that goals will again be scored on both sides three days after their last meeting. After all, that was always the case in four of the last five duels between the two teams.
Frankfurt vs. Hoffenheim – 23 April, 15:30
Eintracht Frankfurt did celebrate a moment of glory last week when they stormed Camp Nou and swept FC Barcelona out of the Europa League with a 3:2 win. In the Bundesliga, however, the Hessians have now waited four league games in a row for another win. Even the home game against Fürth, which was weak away from home, could not be won (0:0).
In general, the home record is the Eagles’ shortcoming, as they have only won four of their 15 league games at home. Only Bielefeld (two) and Fürth (three) have recorded fewer home victories in the Bundesliga than the SGE. However, the visitors from nearby Sinsheim are not really in good form either. TSG has been waiting for another win in five league games (two draws, three defeats) and has suffered a major setback in the battle for the international competitions.
Accordingly, it is difficult to make accurate predictions on the outcome of this Bundesliga match on matchday 31. In view of the lack of forward play on both sides, betting on less than 2.5 goals is also a good idea here.
Freiburg vs. Gladbach – 23 April, 15:30
SC Freiburg continue to ride an absolute wave of euphoria. The Black Forest side reached the final of the DFB Pokal for the first time in the club’s history with a clear victory against Hamburger SV. Added to this is the good standing in the Bundesliga, where the Sport-Club is still in a position to reach the Champions League completely on its own four matchdays before the end of the season.
On the other hand, Borussia suffered another bitter setback. After the team from the Lower Rhine halfway stabilised and collected ten of twelve possible points from four consecutive league games, the Foals suffered a 3-1 home defeat in the derby against Cologne last weekend, after which the mood of crisis returned in one fell swoop.
Accordingly, it is interesting to use the betting odds in the Bundesliga on matchday 31 for a home win for the Black Forest side, who have already won eight of their 15 Bundesliga home games at their own stadium.
Cologne vs. Bielefeld – 23 April, 15:30
While 1. FC Köln recorded another 3:1 win away in the derby at Gladbach immediately after coach Steffen Baumgart announced his intention to attack the European starting positions, Arminia Bielefeld are heading for relegation. The East Westphalians have not won any of their last seven league games (one draw, six defeats), which is why coach Frank Kramer has now also had to go.
This makes it a bit more difficult for the Geißböcken to prepare for an opponent who could well be a mixed bag. It should be noted, however, that Arminia have scored just one goal in their last seven league games and will therefore find it very difficult to break the deadlock against a defensively very compact Cologne side.
A lot of value is therefore offered by betting on a win to nil for the Cathedral City team. Those who would like to take the associated risk off the ticket can consider replaying the bet with a free bet.
Fürth vs. Leverkusen – 23 April, 15:30
Every now and then at the start of the second half of the season, it looked as if SpVgg Greuther Fürth could bounce back. However, four matchdays before the end of the season, relegation is as good as sealed. If the cloverleaf loses its home match against Leverkusen, it will be relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. Even with a home win, the chances of staying in the league would only be highly theoretical after eight league games in a row without a win.
At least Fürth have won three of their 15 home games in the Bundesliga. Against Leverkusen, however, for whom the Champions League is at stake in a tight table, nothing should be up for grabs for the league’s bottom team. After all, the Werkself is very strong away from home and has won seven of its 15 games away from home. Only Bayern (eleven) and Dortmund (eight) recorded more away victories.
Accordingly, bets on the Werkself to win away from home are very good in the Bundesliga on matchday 31. To get even more value out of the betting odds, we recommend the half-time final score bet and bet that Bayer will already have set the course for the away win at the break.
Bayern vs. Dortmund – 23 April, 18:30
The German classic gets underway on Saturday evening, where Bayern could finally pop the champagne corks with a home win. The Reds currently have a nine-point lead over BVB, who, however, presented themselves in captivating form last weekend. The black-and-yellows blew VfL Wolfsburg out of the stadium with a 6:1 victory.
In addition, the FCB has been vulnerable from time to time in the 2021/22 season and has struggled to convert its chances in important games. Since the exit in the Champions League quarter-finals, the season has been a bit deflated in view of the championship, which is already as good as decided. There may even be a change of personnel in the summer.
All this means that the classic could be a very high-scoring affair. Therefore, the betting odds for more than 3.5 goals in the Bundesliga on matchday 31 are correspondingly interesting. In the last five encounters between the two teams, at least four goals have been scored without exception.
Bochum vs. Augsburg – 24 April, 15:30
With four matchdays to go, neither VfB Bochum nor FC Augsburg are completely out of the woods. As twelfth in the table, however, the Blue and Whites are in a very good position with an eight-point lead over the relegation place and could celebrate an early relegation with a home win over the Fuggerstädter and the corresponding results from the other stadiums as early as Sunday.
A defeat in the Ruhr, however, would mean that the Bavarian Swabians would have to look a little more uneasily in the rear-view mirror again. After all, the 14th-placed team in the table enters the fourth-last matchday only four points ahead of 16th place. Moreover, after two wins in a row, FCA have recently suffered two defeats in a row.
We expect two teams that are desperate to avoid defeat. In this context, there is much to be said for a cautious approach and a correspondingly low-scoring match, which is why we recommend odds of under 2.5 goals in the Bundesliga on Matchday 31.
Hertha vs. VfB Stuttgart – 24 April, 17:30
Only when all the results of the 31st matchday have already been determined do two of the current problem children, Hertha BSC and VfB Stuttgart, get into the action. Several times in the last few weeks, both teams have pushed each other into the relegation places. It was only last weekend that Hertha overtook Stutgart again with an important 1-0 away win in Augsburg. Also because of this “big point” we see the old lady slightly in advantage.
After all, the Swabians have only won one of their 15 Bundesliga away games in the 2021/22 season. Only Fürth (zero away wins) won less often away from home. Accordingly, betting on a home win for the capital is the more sustainable choice in the Bundesliga on matchday 31. However, because the Berliners would keep the Swabians at bay even with a draw, it is imperative to remove the possibility of a draw from the ticket with the addition of “Draw No Bet”.
