Déjà vu for Liverpool FC?
It was just a fortnight ago that the two clubs met in the Premier League, and now the match between Brighton and Liverpool is also on the agenda in the FA Cup. The Seagulls are building on the recent momentum of their current winning streak and are aiming for the next coup against Liverpool FC – Brighton already won the most recent league encounter 3-0.
The bookmakers with a German licence do not rule out the Seagulls’ next surprise and are currently offering betting odds of 2.62 on Brighton vs. Liverpool for tip 1. Considering how strong the hosts from the south coast of England have been recently, the high betting odds on a win for the home side at Brighton against Liverpool are definitely worth it.
Brighton have not lost any of their last four games since the defeat against the Gunners from London (2:4). The Seagulls’ attack has been particularly brilliant, with the sixth-placed side in the Premier League scoring 14 goals in that period – an average of almost four goals per match.
The visitors from Liverpool, on the other hand, are still stumbling and recently suffered another setback in the league with a goalless draw against Chelsea. LFC coach Jürgen Klopp’s side have now gone winless for the fourth time in their last five competitive games. It is therefore risky to make a prediction on the Reds in Brighton vs.
Brighton – Statistics & current form
Brighton are still playing a hell of a season even after head coach Graham Potter’s bitter switch to the Blues, and even have a realistic chance of finishing the season in the Premier League’s top five. Sixth in the league, the Seagulls are currently separated by just five points from fifth-placed Tottenham.
However, it should be noted that Brighton, unlike Spurs, still have two games less on their account. The Seagulls can therefore overtake the Londoners on their own merits – provided they win the two catch-up games. If you take a look at Brighton’s recent form curve, that scenario cannot be ruled out.
In their last four matches, including a cup tie against Middlesbrough, Brighton have been brimming with confidence. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been particularly convincing in their attacking play. Not only because teams like Everton (4:1) and Middlesbrough (5:1) were swept off the pitch, but also because Brighton ensured a clear balance of power against LFC (3:0).
Will Brighton celebrate their next home win against the Reds?
For the Seagulls, the 3-0 win over Liverpool Reds was only their second home win against LFC. The win ended a 62-year negative streak for Brighton against Liverpool, who had previously gone 12 consecutive home games without a win against LFC. It is quite possible that this will be the case this time as well.
In their current form, Brighton are certainly capable of the next coup. If successful, the Seagulls would qualify for the fifth round of the FA Cup for the second time in the last three seasons. Last season, Brighton were defeated by Spurs in the fourth round. However, the match against the Londoners took place away from home.
The host team will miss the cup match against Liverpool with four players injured. In addition to Lallana and Colwill, Moder is also currently in the Seagulls’ hospital.

Liverpool – Statistics & current form
Damage limitation will be limited for the Reds in the Premier League. The gap to the starting places for the top flight is already ten points. Although LFC still have a catch-up game to play, a comeback by the Reds tends to be ruled out.
LFC coach Jürgen Klopp’s team has not provided any arguments for this in recent weeks. Rather, the situation in the Premier League has worsened. The Reds have not won any of their last three league games since the 2-1 win against Leicester City. LFC lost two of their last three matches in the league, including the encounter at Brighton.
The Reds now face the next setback in the FA Cup. Especially as the cup match will also be played away from home. Liverpool have lost three of their last five away games in the competition. In each of those three away defeats, the Reds have rung the bell three times.
Is LFC showing signs of defiance?
Last season Liverpool missed out on the league title but Jürgen Klopp’s side did win the FA Cup. For the Reds, it was the first FA Cup title since the 2005/06 season and thus a small consolation after missing out on the Premier League title.
The cup coup was certainly surprising, as Liverpool had hardly been convincing in the FA Cup in previous years. In the period between 2015 and 2022, the best cup result in the FA Cup was the fifth round. It would therefore not be at all surprising if Liverpool were eliminated in the fifth round of the 2022/23 FA Cup.
In the previous round, Klopp’s team only narrowly missed a cup debacle against Wolverhampton. Nevertheless, bettors who want to make a prediction on Brighton vs. Liverpool and the Reds advancing to the next round of the cup can pick up betting odds of up to 2.55 in the event of LFC’s success.

Brighton – Liverpool Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
Brighton and Liverpool meet for the 31st time overall. The Reds lead the direct comparison against Brighton with a record of 17-9-4. Seven of those 17 wins have come at the Seagulls, but there have also been two defeats at Brighton. Liverpool suffered one of those two away defeats just under a fortnight ago.
Brighton caused a big surprise by beating LFC 3-0 and thus underlined their international ambitions. The Seagulls thus remained unbeaten against Liverpool in both the first and second legs of the Premier League. The first meeting of the season ended in a 3-3 draw in October 2022.
Brighton – Liverpool Tip
The Reds no longer have a realistic chance of winning the Premier League. The primary goal is therefore to finish the season among the top four teams in order to at least be represented in next season’s top flight. With this in mind, there have been three bitter setbacks in the league recently, including a bitter league defeat at upcoming cup opponents Brighton.
Before the next league game against Wolves, LFC now have to play in the FA Cup. Jürgen Klopp’s team may be threatened with another defeat. Opponents Brighton are in excellent form at the moment and are unbeaten in four games in a row, which has an impact on the odds for Brighton vs Liverpool.
The Seagulls, in contrast to LFC, also celebrated an impressive cup success recently. In the last round, Brighton swept second division side Middlesbrough off the pitch with a 5-1 win. If Brighton take the momentum in their offensive play with them, the next offensive spectacle in the FA Cup cannot be ruled out.
As in the most recent league clash between the two clubs, we expect another high-scoring encounter and dare to bet on “Both teams score. We are using six units to do this.
