Will Brentford score the big point?
For a promoted side, hosts Brentford are absolutely on course to finish in the lower mid-table of the Premier League. The season could have a good ending by staying in the league, and the hosts are currently working to achieve that goal as quickly as possible.
Brentford do not even play classically like a promoted team, but show themselves quite courageous quite often. That’s one of the reasons why, ahead of the Brentford vs Burnley match, the odds indicate favouritism for the hosts.
But Burnley can also be unpleasant and defend well themselves. With the arrival of Weghorst, an important element has been added to the game. Whether it will be enough to take something away from Brentford will be seen on Saturday at 4 p.m., when the game kicks off.
Brentford – Statistics & current form
Brentford FC have certainly been fun to watch this season and have been able to show some very good games. For a promoted team, coach Thomas Frank’s team has often been very brave and active, causing headaches for many opponents. With Christian Eriksen, a new impulse was added in the winter, which could definitely help the team.
Last weekend, Brentford completed the task with ease at bottom side Norwich, winning 3-1, with Ivan Toney scoring a treble and his seventh to ninth goals of the season. He is Brentford’s life insurance and the only player to have more than three goals to his name.
Brentford are in the lower midfield in the Premier League, obviously have to look down, but the chances to stay in the league are there. A win against Burnley would of course be a big point in that regard.
Brentford hope to turn the tide
The win last week against Norwich was also hugely important because it ended a run of nine consecutive competitive games without a win. Only two league wins have come for the Bees in 2022, with seven in total. Hopes of a turnaround through victory against Norwich should now be high, especially as Burnley are also a team that can dominate Brentford individually.
The comparison in terms of statistics with the other relegation candidates is encouraging in any case. Brentford have scored 30 goals, which is the best of any team from 14th onwards. 45 goals conceded are also only undercut by opponents Burnley. A reasonably good order in combination with a flexible attack makes Brentford strong, especially since the goal ratio can of course also play a decisive role in the fight against relegation.
The game against Burnley will now have a decisive influence on whether and how a turnaround can be spoken of. With a win, you distance yourself from the Clarets and gain more self-confidence. Because both place a lot of emphasis on compactness and the game has great significance, our prediction ahead of the Brentford vs Burnley game is that less than 2.5 goals will be scored.
Predicted Brentford line-up:
Raya – Rasmussen, Ajer, Jansson, Henry – Janelt, Nörgaard, Mbeumo, Onyeka, Eriksen – Toney
Last matches played by Brentford:

03/05 2022 – Norwich 1 – 3 Brentford
02/26 2022 – Brentford 0 – 2 Newcastle United
02/19 2022 – Arsenal London 2 – 1 Brentford
02/12 2022 – Brentford 0 – 0 Crystal Palace
02/09 2022 – Manchester City 2 – 0 Brentford
Burnley – Statistics & current form
With two games in hand Burnley are currently six points behind Brentford. The importance of this game is therefore quickly obvious, with a defeat Brentford would be enclosed, with a win Burnley could make an important step. The relegation battle in general is still somewhat skewed, with several clubs currently having games in hand. Burnley, that much is clear, still have to pick up a lot of points in any case.
However, coach Sean Dyche’s team suffered a setback last matchday. Burnley lost 4-0 to Chelsea FC and were without a chance, especially in the second half. If the plan of standing compact and switching quickly after long balls does not work, then a plan B is often missing in the Clarets’ repertoire.
A classic goal scorer is also missing, although Weghorst is a player who can grow into this role. However, he has been used frequently so far to lock down balls, use his physicality and thus open up opportunities for the advancing players. With two assists so far, that’s worked very well too.
Burnley: Offensively, the shoe is on the other foot
The whole offensive dilemma becomes clearer when the statistics are looked at more closely. 22 goals in 26 competitive games are clearly too few, even though 36 goals conceded are not too many. Away from home, there has only been one win and 0.69 points, which does not look much better at home. Here Burnley won twice with an average of 0.92 points per game.
So three wins so far this season are on the books, and Burnley also have the second weakest offence in the league after Norwich. In the coming games, however, the Clarets will face a number of teams who are also in the relegation battle, and so there is the possibility of making up points in direct duels.
Predicted Burnley line-up:
Pope – Lowton, Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor – Westwood, Cork, Brownhill, Cornet – McNeil, Weghorst
Last matches played by Burnley:
Premier League
03/05 2022 – Burnley 0 – 4 Chelsea London
03/01 2022 – Burnley 0 – 2 Leicester
02/26 2022 – Crystal Palace 1 – 1 Burnley
02/23 2022 – Burnley 1 – 0 Tottenham
02/19 2022 – Brighton 0 – 3 Burnley
Brentford – Burnley Direct Comparison / H2H Record
Eight of the 15 direct duels have been won by Burnley, only four times Brentford have come out on top. In the first leg, the Clarets celebrated one of their three victories of the season, winning 3-1, which already resembles a goal festival
Brentford – Burnley Tip
Much points to a close game between two teams in the Premier League relegation battle. Slight advantages for Brentford arise from the last game and the game layout, offensively Burnley is also extremely weak.
But because the Bees are not spectacular either, our tip before the Brentford vs Burnley match is that less than 2.5 goals will be scored.
