The national team of Coach Tite was against Chile in the favorite role and this was also justified by the 1:0 victory. However, there was no great magic soccer to see and after a goalless first half it went straight to the point after a re-start. The record world champion led by Lucas Paqueta with 1:0 (46th). The Olympique Lyon player hit directly with his first touch of the ball in conjunction with Neymar. Two minutes later Gabriel Jesus flew off the square with a smooth red because of a rude foul play (48th). As a result, the Brazilians withdrew and survived the long power play of the Chileans. It remained at 1-0 for Brazil.
After the four preliminary rounds (group of five) against Venezuela (3:0), Peru (4:0), Colombia (2:1) and Ecuador (1:1), the Tite team became group winners and deservedly qualified for the knockout phase, in which Chile was then narrowly defeated. The Selecao has been unbeaten for 12 consecutive international games. The last bankruptcy occurred in mid-November 2019 in a friendly match against arch-rival Argentina (0:1). The last Copa two years ago in their own country (as this year as a substitute country because of corona) was crowned with the title in the final match against Peru (3:1). It was Copa America’s ninth win for Brazil.
Superstar Neymar of Paris Saint Germain is with only two goals best clipper in the Brazilian national jersey. One shot by the offensive artist on penalties. Otherwise, nine different players each scored a goal. The 11 tournament goals make Brazil the most dangerous attacking team of Copa America.
The five-time world champion can compete against Peru with the exception of the red-blocked Gabriel Jesus in the best lineup.

The two-time Copa-America winner was in the underdog role against Paraguay and was slow in the quarter-final game. After eleven minutes, Paraguay went through G. Gomez to the front with 1-0, before the defender scored an own goal ten minutes later to equalise (21st). Shortly before the change of side, the international game then tilted towards Peru, which turned the game by Lapadulas 2:1 (40th) and could tackle the second half with a man more, because unlucky G. Gomez had to leave the pitch with yellow-red (45th +3th). In the second half it took less than ten minutes for Paraguay to score a 2-2 shorthanded goal (54th, Alonso). In the final phase it became really exciting again. Yotun scored the supposed 3-2 victory goal in power play for Peru (80th). Five minutes later, Peru’s Carrillo with yellow-red flew off the grass prematurely (85th). At the last minute, the favourite equalised again, setting Avalos at 3-3 (90th). With the Copa there is no extension, but it goes directly to the penalty shootout, which Peru then decided for itself, although with Cueva and Ormeno there were two snipers. Since Paraguay also failed to score twice and also missed the last penalty, Peru prevailed somewhat surprisingly but also in a long playful power play.
The national team of the Argentinean practice leader Ricardo Gareca took a big slap against the defending champion Brazil in the first Copa match (0:4). After that, however, La Blanquirroja scored seven points from three games against Colombia (2-1), Ecuador (2-2) and Venezuela (1-0). Peru qualified for the quarter-finals as group second behind Brazil. Peru was slightly outsiders against Paraguay and won after a penalty shootout. At the 2019 South American Championship, they also met Brazil twice and picked up two bankruptcies. With 0:5 in the group phase, the cap was on and the final went to the Selecao with 3:1.
The Peruvians are the second best attacking team in the Copa with eight goals. Gianluca Lapadula and Andre Carrillo are the most accurate players with two stands each. Yoshimar Yotun and Sergio Pena each score one goal. Thus, La Blanquirroja already benefited from two own goals in the current competition.
With the exception of the suspended midfielder Andre Carrillo, Peru can rely on the full squad against Brazil.

Brazil is a strong favourite against Peru in the first semi-final of the Copa America. The Selecao did not convince in the last two games, but overall the record world champion together with nemesis Argentina is the most convincing team in the South American championship. The La Blanquirroja went second behind the title favourites into the knockout phase and then took out with Paraguay a better national team on paper in the round of the last eight teams. In the preliminary round between Brazil and Peru it was a clear thing for the Brazilians with 4:0. Just like with the Copa two years ago with 5:0 in the group stage and 3:1 in the final. In the semi-final this year, the Tite team will also beat the Peruvians and thus win the fourth Copa-America game in a row against Peruvians.
