Do Los Che have to tremble once more?
Despite improved performance in recent weeks and a two-point lead over 18th place, Valencia CF can theoretically still be relegated on the last matchday. However, a lot would have to go against the Murciélagos for this to happen. However, should Betis Sevilla’s bet on a home win for the Verdiblancos come true, Los Che would have to rely on support and look to the other places.
Valencia have been in much better form of late. Los Che celebrated four wins in their last eight league games (two draws, two defeats). That was twice as many wins as in the 15 league games before that (two draws, eleven defeats). Still, we find it very difficult to predict the Blanquinegros to win a point in Betis Sevilla vs Valencia.
Not only has Valencia now waited a total of 13 La Liga outings at Andalusian teams for another away win (five draws, eight defeats), but Los Che have also won just two of their last ten La Liga outings at Betis Sevilla (two draws, six defeats). After losing the 2022 Copa del Rey final on penalties, the Murciélagos took revenge on the Béticos with a 3-0 win, at least in their last meeting so far.
However, considering that the Verdiblancos have won four of their last six competitive matches against Valencia (one draw, one defeat), we find the greatest value in this clash in tip 1.
Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form
Bestis Sevilla won the Copa del Rey last season against Valencia, but after a long fight they narrowly missed out on fourth place in La Liga and had to make do with the Europa League again. Here, however, the journey ended in the round of 16 against Manchester United.
The Verdiblancos also knocked on the door of the top four at times in the 2022/23 season. However, one matchday before the end of the season, they are nine points off fourth place. With a nine-point lead over seventh place, sixth place in the final table is already set in stone. Once again, the Andalusians will thus be playing Europa League next season.
Ten points out of a possible 15 from the last five league games
There have been occasional periods of weakness for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season. Their home record has also been solid, but not outstanding, with nine wins from 18 home games. All in all, the Verdiblancos can still be satisfied with their recent form.
The Andalusians have won three of their last five league games (one draw, one defeat), bringing their tally to ten points out of a possible 15. It is therefore surprising that the odds are against the home team in the Betis Sevilla vs Valencia match.
Only lost two of last ten La Liga home games against Valencia
After all, not too much has been burning at home against the Murciélagos recently. The Verdiblancos have only lost two of their last ten home games in La Liga against the team from the east coast of Spain.
Of course, it has to be said that nothing is at stake for the Béticos. For example, the farewell of club icon Joaquín, who will end his career this summer at the age of 41, is likely to be more important than the result on the last matchday. Nevertheless, we have a hard time believing that the Andalusians want to, and will, see themselves and their captain out of the 2022/23 season with a home win.
Valencia – Statistics & current form
Valencia Club de Fútbol is on the verge of somehow ending a season to forget in a conciliatory manner. They were supposed to have celebrated staying in the league last weekend. In the end, however, Los Che did not manage more than a 2-2 draw against Espanyol Barcelona.
The Blanquinegros are not yet out of trouble, although on the 38th matchday, it is primarily the chasing team that is to blame. With only a two-point lead over the 18th-placed team, things could get even tighter if Betis Sevilla’s bet on a win for the Andalusians against Valencia comes true.
Winless in 13 visits to Andalusian clubs
A recent very poor away record in Andalusia also speaks against Los Che.
Valencia have not won any of their last 13 La Liga guest matches at an Andalusian club (five draws, eight defeats). The Béticos have also picked up just two wins from their last ten away games in league action (two draws, six defeats).
The Blanquinegros’ general performance on away pitches does not give them much hope of winning points either. In the 2022/23 season, only Almeria, Elche and Valladolid (13 each) have lost more away games in La Liga than the Murciélagos (twelve).
Won four of their last eight league games
But at least on the home stretch of the bumpy season, coach Rubén Baraja’s troops managed to improve their performance once again. Not only did they win the important duels with Elche (2:0) and Valladolid (2:1), but also the penultimate home game against Real Madrid (1:0).
Because a total of four of the last eight league games were won (two draws, two defeats) – twice as many victories as among the 15 league games before that (two draws, eleven defeats) – Los Che are thus above the line one matchday before the end of the season.
Betis Sevilla – Valencia Direct comparison / H2H Ranking
Head to head: 38 – 24 – 58
There have been a total of 120 meetings between the two teams so far and Valencia CF lead the head-to-head comparison with 58 wins. Away in Andalusia, however, the Murciélagos have not been able to win too much lately. Los Che have won just two of their last ten La Liga outings at Betis Sevilla (two draws, six defeats).
Betis Sevilla – Valencia Tip
When it comes to Betis Sevilla against Valencia, our prediction goes for a home win for the Verdiblancos, who have continued to show strength in the final stretch of the season with a haul of ten points out of a possible 15 from their last five games, although there was not too much at stake. On the other hand, the Murciélagos are still in contention for a place in La Liga on the final matchday. With a two-point lead over the first relegation place, it is the chasing team that has to take the lead. However, if they fail to win away in Andalusia, Los Che will be in need of support.
Also because the Blanquinegros have not won in 13 visits to Andalusian teams in La Liga (five draws, eight defeats), we find the greatest value in betting on a home win for the Verdiblancos.
