Is there not much left to burn in Andalusia?
There really isn’t much suspense left in the clash between Betis Sevilla and Manchester United. After all, the Red Devils already have one foot in the quarter-finals with their emphatic 4-1 home win from the first leg. The Verdiblancos would need three goals to force extra time. Accordingly, there is no alternative to betting on Erik ten Hag’s side advancing in the Betis Sevilla vs Manchester United match.
However, it has to be said that the English record champions have not performed too well at national level recently. A 7-0 defeat at Liverpool was followed by a dismal 0-0 draw against bottom side Southampton. In the first leg against the Béticos, the Red Devils also wobbled several times in the first half. Thus, in the forecast for Betis Sevilla against Manchester United, it is not to be expected that the visitors will once again win by a wide margin.
Erik ten Hag also has to keep an eye on the strain control. After all, the English record champions already have an immensely important game coming up on Sunday when they face Fulham at home for a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. We therefore expect a defensively minded United, who have no interest in too much action in the Andalusian capital.
If the Verdiblancos fail to score early, the belief in the Remontada could quickly fade and the match could even end up in an uneventful 0:0. Accordingly, we see a lot of value in betting on under 2.5 goals.
Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form
Real Betis Balompié once celebrated the first and only national championship in the club’s history in 1935. They have also won the Copa del Rey three times overall, with the Béticos only lifting the national trophy again last summer.
Internationally, on the other hand, the Andalusian club has seen very little so far. Their only participation in the Champions League (2005/06) ended in the preliminary round. In the Europa League, on the other hand, the Verdiblancos have never made it past the round of 16.
Haven’t won any of their last three competitive matches
Curiosity: in both 2013/14 (against Sevilla FC) and 2021/22 (against Eintracht Frankfurt), Betis failed to reach the last 16 at the hands of the eventual overall winners.
After last week’s 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford, it is unlikely that they will be able to avoid elimination. After all, the Verdiblancos didn’t build up too much momentum at the weekend either, when Manuel Pellegrini’s side couldn’t go beyond a 1-1 draw at Villarreal CF.
Averaging just one goal conceded per home game
At least the Béticos’ home record is quite respectable. Not only did the current fifth-placed team in La Liga pick up seven of a possible nine points at home in the Europa League group stage, but the Andalusians also took a proud 21 of a possible 36 points at the Estadio Benito Villamarín at national level.
The Verdiblancos were particularly good defensively at home. Three goals conceded in three Europa League home games compared to twelve goals conceded in twelve La Liga home games. Also because on average only one goal was conceded per home game, our prediction for Betis Sevilla against Manchester United is for a not too high-scoring second leg.

Manchester United – Statistics & current form
Manchester United are still the English record champions, but the last time they won the Premier League was in the 2012/13 season, when the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson was still on the bench.
Twelve league games are still open. But with Arsenal FC already 16 points behind them, the Red Devils are unlikely to win the league title this year. Accordingly, a lot of emphasis is placed on the other competitions. Erik ten Hag’s side already won the EFL Cup three weeks ago with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle.
Wegweisende Woche in Europa League und FA Cup
The title is also still possible in the Europa League, where the English record champions eliminated none other than the great FC Barcelona in the play-offs. In addition, a 13th overall victory in the FA Cup would look good for the Red Devils. With this in mind, one eye is already on Sunday, when the ticket for the semifinals of the world’s oldest cup competition is to be punched at home against Fulham.
Accordingly, everyone is keen to finish the job in Andalusia in the most energy-saving way possible, also in view of the long list of absentees. United have already redeemed themselves from the disgraceful 7-0 defeat against Liverpool in the first leg against Real Betis last week.
First time a three-goal lead has been squandered in the Europa League
Erik ten Hag’s side have only ever been knocked out of the Europa League after winning by at least three goals in the first leg. In 2013/14, FC Basel squandered this comfortable lead against Valencia with a 5-0 away defeat in Spain.
The betting odds on Betis Sevilla against Manchester United are therefore clearly in favour of the Red Devils progressing, although they have failed to score in two of their last three competitive matches.

Betis Sevilla – Manchester United Direct Comparison / H2H Record
Head to head: 0 – 0 – 1
Last Thursday’s first leg was the first and only meeting between the two clubs so far. With the 4:1 home victory, Manchester United consequently lead the direct comparison.
Betis Sevilla – Manchester United bet
Betis Sevilla vs Manchester United odds are swinging in the direction of the visitors, but they don’t really bring any reasons to play for a win in Andalusia. Certainly, an early away goal could pull the plug on the Verdiblancos and break any possible resistance. But because things could quickly get unintentionally heated with an early goal against, the Red Devils are not expected to risk too much. Accordingly, we expect the English record champions to be cautious.
The bet on a maximum of two goals in the second leg is very coherent. That would cover not only narrow victories in one direction or the other, but also a result like 0:0.
