Clear conditions in the Derbi barceloní?
With five victories in a row and 12:1 goals, FC Barcelona had a very successful farewell as La Liga leaders into the World Cup break. The Catalans have only lost the Clásico against Real Madrid so far and lead the table with 37 out of a possible 42 points. Also at the Re-Start between Barcelona and Espanyol Barcelona the tip goes clearly in the direction of the Blaugrana.

Even an away goal from the in-form Blanquiazules, who have only won two of their first 14 league games in La Liga (six draws, six defeats), would be a bit of a surprise given the Blaugrana’s solid defence. Barca have conceded only five goals in 14 league games, kept a clean sheet in 11 of those 14 games and have not conceded a goal at home.
Accordingly, the bet on the next win for Xavi’s side, who will have to do without the suspended Robert Lewandowski, is a good one.
Barcelona – Statistics & current form
26 national championships, 31 overall Copa del Rey victories and five Champions League titles are on record for FC Barcelona, who nevertheless came away empty-handed in all competitions at the end of the 2021/22 season.
The sums invested in new personnel in the summer to bring the Catalan showpiece club back to the top were correspondingly horrendous. After failing to make it past the group stage in the top flight, winning the Spanish championship is now considered almost mandatory.
The best defence in La Liga
While the Blaugrana lost the prestigious Clásico against arch-rivals and defending champions Real Madrid 3-1, of all things.
On a national level, however, it remained with this one slip-up. Barca picked up 37 points out of a possible 39 from their other 13 league games and conceded just two more goals in total.
Most recently, the Catalans have won five La Liga games in a row, scoring 12 times and only conceding one goal in their last league game at Osasuna, when Robert Lewandowski was sent off early in the 30th minute and they were able to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 away win despite being shorthanded.
Unbeaten in Derbi barceloní for 24 league games
The Polish goal-scorer is now missing three league games for the Catalans. Nevertheless, the prediction for Barcelona against Espanyol Barcelona goes in all forms in the direction of the Blaugrana.
At Camp Nou, the Blaugrana have won twelve in a row against their city rivals, keeping a clean sheet in ten of those twelve games. Barca are also the club with the most wins in the top five European leagues. The Xavi team has not conceded a goal in eleven of its 14 league games.

Espanyol Barcelona – Statistics & current form
The Reial Club Deportiu (RCD for short) Espanyol Barcelona have been in existence since October 1900, but have never won the national championship in Spain until now. However, the Blanquiazules have won the Copa del Rey four times. In addition, they have reached two UEFA Cup finals, but missed out on the overall victory both times.
Recently, however, the traditional club has also experienced complicated times. In the summer of 2020, the Periquitos were relegated from La Liga at the bottom of the table, but were immediately able to return to the top flight as champions of the second division.
Won only two of their 14 league games
After a commanding 14th-place finish in the final table, however, RCD Espanyol currently have to worry about belonging to La Liga again. The Blanquiazules won only two of their first 14 league games (six draws, six defeats).
Not only is Diego Martínez, who was brought in as coach in the summer, not too secure in the saddle, but the Periquitos, in 16th place in the table, are currently only one point ahead of the first relegation place.
No derby win in Camp Nou since 2009
Again, Barcelona vs Espanyol Barcelona betting odds are heavily stacked against the Blanquiazules, who have lost their last 12 La Liga games at Camp Nou and have failed to score 83.3% of the time at their arch-rivals.
The Periquitos’ away record is impressive, though, having lost only two of their seven away games in La Liga and conceding only nine goals away from home. However, FC Barcelona, who have failed to win any of their last five league games, are facing a mammoth task at home.
Projected line-up of Espanyol Barcelona:
Lecomte – Oliván – Cabrera – Keddari – Gil – Expósito – Calero – Melamed – Lazo – Puado – Joselu

Barcelona – Espanyol Barcelona Direct comparison / H2H record
Head to head: 125 – 45 – 44
The Derbi barceloní has taken place 214 times so far and with 125 victories, well over half of all duels have gone to FC Barcelona. In La Liga, the Blaugrana are currently unbeaten in 24 meetings against RCD Espanyol (18 wins, six draws) and have won the last 12 home games in a row.
Barcelona – Espanyol Barcelona betting tips
The odds are heavily in favour of Barcelona against Espanyol Barcelona, who have not conceded a goal in any of their seven home games in La Liga so far. With eleven games to nil from their first 14 league games, the Blaugrana have an almost impeccable defence anyway, which should be hard to break down by a visitors who have only won two of their 14 league games.
While Barca may face a game of patience due to Lewandowski’s suspension. In the end, we still see the greatest value in betting on the Blaugrana’s next win to nil against Espanyol Barcelona.
