Lewandowski with the obligatory league goal?
The newly crowned league leaders from Barcelona get a visit from Galicia with Celta Vigo. The home side claimed the place in the sun with a narrow away win at Mallorca last weekend and the parallel slip-up of Real Madrid’s kickers, who couldn’t get beyond a draw against Osasuna.
For the guests, the rolls are much smaller: Only eleventh place is taken after the first seven rounds of matches.
For the match at Camp Nou between Barcelona and Celta Vigo, the forecast includes a goal by Robert Lewandowski on the side of the hosts.
Barcelona – Statistics & current form
With 19 goals, FCB has the best attack in La Liga. Robert Lewandowski has played the biggest part in this. The newcomer from Bayern Munich only failed to score in the first of his seven league appearances!
He also delivered a brace in three La Liga games. With a total of nine goals, the Pole also currently leads the scoring charts.
The exceptional strength of his position in the attack of coach Xavi’s team can also be seen in the fact that, with nine goals, he has scored almost half of the Catalans’ aforementioned 19 goals for the season.
FCB also nail their own box
In addition to having the best offence, the country’s 26-time champions also boast the strongest defence league-wide. They have only conceded one goal in seven league games!
Against this backdrop, the odds on a home win to nil for the clash between Barcelona and Celta Vigo are also worth a recommendation.
The prediction is backed up by the three home games so far, in which the Spanish record cup winners (31) have always recorded a clean sheet.
Licking wounds from the top flight
However, the course of the season in the Champions League is less pleasing from the home side’s point of view. Last Wednesday, they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Inter Milan, their second defeat in a row, as they also lost at Bayern.
With only three points after as many rounds of matches, the team’s chances of staying in the top flight are in serious jeopardy.
Predicted line-up of Barcelona:
ter Stegen – Balde – Pique – Christensen – Alba – Gavi – Busquets – Kessie – Dembele – Lewandowski – Fati

Celta Vigo – Statistics & current form
Last season’s eleventh-placed side picked up a 1-0 home win over Betis Sevilla last matchday. However, the victory was also due to a very early red card for the Andalusian opponent, who had to play 70 minutes with a shorthanded team.
The fact that Sevilla were on a par from a playing point of view was not a positive lesson for Vigo from the exchange of blows, despite the victory.
The footballers from Galicia had not performed well before. The two games against Valencia and Atletico Madrid, for example, were both clearly lost.
Another clear defeat for the visitors?
With this in mind and the fact that they are now up against the best attacking side in the division, the prediction of a home win with at least a two-goal difference in the clash between Barcelona and Celta Vigo is also worth considering.
On top of that, the “Celestes” still have to do without Franco Cervi in midfield due to a red card from the match against Valencia the day before last. Furthermore, top striker Iago Aspas has not scored in three league games.
The club icon had previously scored five goals for coach Eduardo Coudet’s team in the first four rounds of matches. Aspas was not directly involved in only two of the visitors’ seven goals during that period.
Offensive has consisted almost exclusively of Aspas for a long time
His supremacy in the attack of the “Himmelblauen” can also be seen in the fact that he has always delivered 14 and at his peak even 22 goals for Vigo in the past seven seasons.
When things don’t go his way, hardly any other offensive player in the team from the Balaidos can make up for his lull.
Predicted line-up of Celta Vigo:
Marchesin – Nunez – Galan – Aidoo – Mallo – Beltran – Veiga – Rodriguez – Solari – Perez – Larsen

Barcelona – Celta Vigo Direct comparison / H2H record
Barça edged out the 2000 Intertoto Cup winners 3-1 on home soil in their last head-to-head clash last May. In the last six meetings, it was the fifth match with goals on both sides.
The FCB also have a very positive home record in the recent past: Only one of the last eight home games against Vigo was lost (6-1-1).
Barcelona – Celta Vigo tip
Blaugrana is the only team besides Real Madrid still unbeaten in the Iberian top flight. In addition, the Catalans have the best defence, the strongest attack and the current top scorer in Robert Lewandowski.
The sporting situation of the reigning runners-up can therefore be described as very good, at least in league play. For the clash between Barcelona and Celta Vigo, the tip is for Robert Lewandowski to score another goal.
The three-time Segunda Division champions’ shaky form also argues in favour of a goal from the in-form Pole. The visitors did manage a win against Betis Sevilla last time out, but it was a narrow one and largely due to a quick red card for their opponents.
Away from home, Vigo have also been very pale recently with two defeats against the “Colchoneros” and Valencia. Both defeats were accompanied by a whopping seven goals conceded, meaning there should be no shortage of scoring opportunities for the home side in the upcoming match.
