FC Augsburg and Union Berlin will play on Saturday afternoon, 23.01.2021 at 3:30 pm, in the World Cup Arena at three points on the 18th match day of the Bundesliga. Last Wednesday, the Fuggerstädters visited the Bavarians and after a decent performance they just lost. The Bavarian Swabians dropped to 12th place in the table with 19 counters. The Irons appeared at RB Leipzig and had no chance at all. The capitals rank sixth in the table (28 points).

As expected, the FCA was immediately under pressure against the Bavarians. The record champion then rewarded himself early with a 1-0 lead through the transformed foul meter of Lewandowski (13th). The Munich team wanted to follow the second goal – Gnabry and Müller failed after a double chance (23rd). The master left nothing burning in the back, the home team had no chance in the first round. On the other hand, Kimmich (36th), Gnabry (38th) and Lewandowski (42nd) scored 2-0 before the break. After the change of sides, the game turned completely. The dominance of the guests was gone and Heiko Herrlich’s team became more courageous – Caligiuri’s shot just missed the goal (67th). In the 76th minute the Fuggerstädters had the huge opportunity to equalize. A handball by Pavard in the penalty area was punished and Finnbogason entered the penalty, but hit only the left post. The Bavarian Swabians continued to play forward eagerly and gave up some good opportunities for equalisation that would have been deserved in the end – Jensen (77th), Niederlechner (88th) and Uduokhai’s header in the second leg (92nd) were too out of place. So it stayed at the flattering 1-0 for FC Bayern.
The Wonderful Elf collected the third consecutive defeat and won only one of the last five league games (four bankruptcies). At home, the FCA has been without victory for six games (four defeats, two draws) and has lost the last three home appearances against Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Bavaria. Only FC Köln and Mainz 05 defend worse in their own living room than the Fuggerstädter (16 goals conceded).
Except for the injured Raphael Framberger, Coach Herrlich can welcome the Berliners in the best cast.

The team of Urs Fischer mostly followed suit in Leipzig. The Saxons showed a fast pace and had early opportunities to score 1-0 by Kampl (2nd) and Sabitzer (6th). The Berliner Bollwerk lived up to its reputation and stood up for the host despite 73 percent ball possession. In the final phase of the first half, the Köpenicks became more courageous, which almost led to the goal – Nkunku failed free-standing in front of Union goalie Luthe (38th). The capitals, for their part, had a dangerous action only through Ingvartsen (14th). In the second period of the game, the cops continued to set the tone, but bited their teeth at the Berlin defence. It took Forsberg five minutes later to score the earned 1-0 for RB (70th) and Nkunku failed in the 65th minute. Despite the backlog, the Berliners only appeared sporadically in front of the opposing housing. After all, Bülter almost managed to equalize in the second period – Bülter failed due to RB-Keeper Gulacsi (92nd).
The Fischer-Elf lost again after six consecutive unbeaten league games (three wins, three draws). Of the last four away games, the Irons won only one (four points). The defensive team does a good job in a stranger (10 goals). Only two teams are safer away from home. It also works offensively in Köpenick (32 goals per season). Only Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund scored more goals.
The injured players Joel Pohjanpalo, Max Kruse, Anthony Ujah, Sheraldo Becker and Grischa Prömel will not travel to Augsburg.
