After a bumpy start to the season for FC Augsburg with the home clap against TSG Hoffenheim, the Fuggerstädter were a little better at least for the last day of the season with the points won by home-grown Frankfurt players. Markus Weinzierl’s team put a lot of emphasis on the defensive and also showed a really good game at the back. On the other side, Joker Kamada and Borre also failed to score (77th, 78th), so the score remained 0-0 thanks to the strong defensive performance of the visitors.
The Weinzierl-Elf acclimatised for the 0-4 home defeat against TSG Hoffenheim on the first day of the game and was able to look forward to a counter with more than one year of unbeaten Frankfurt players thanks to the strong defensive. However, the start of the season remains negative because the FCA has not scored a single goal and has only won one of the last nine league games (six defeats, two draws). The last home game of last season against Werder Bremen (2-0) also meant avoiding relegation. The threesome was bitterly needed, because it was the only complete success from the last four home appearances (two defeats, one split).

In spite of the early shock, the foals sent a sign of life – mullion Hofmann (15th). Gerardo Seoane’s team had everything under control at the back and the chance to score 3-0 at the front, but Schick failed on Sommer’s leg (39th). Even before the break whistle, there was a big opportunity to compensate for the Borussia – but Stindl missed his penalty (43rd).
In the second round, the guests came well out of the cabin, but not much came except for a conclusion from Neuhaus (50th). On the other hand, B04 increased by Diaby to 3:0 (55th). However, Gladbach also had a lot of bad luck and had to change for the third time due to injury. A post crash by Schick prevented the 4:0 (65th). The elf from the Lower Rhine did not give up, but Stindl’s Schlenzer (74th) and Hofmann, free standing in front of Bayer keeper Hradecky (85th), did not sink the ball. Leverkusen, in the person of Amiri, then secured the final point with his goal to score 4-0 (87th).
After a rather disappointing 1-1 victory with Union Berlin last week, the Seoane-elf returned with the Kantersieg against Gladbach and climbed up to third place in the standings. After the last season ended with three league games without a win in a row and the start to the new season only started with a draw in the capital, the Rhineland players can now sleep a little more calmly. However, this is likely to change again in view of the last six appearances in the Bundesliga (three defeats, three draws). With five goals of the season after two matchdays, only BVB and Hoffenheim have scored better at the front.
Edmond Tapsoba, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Karim Bellarabi and Lucas Alario are injured and will not be involved in Augsburg.
