How does the cloverleaf see off the Bundesliga?
One matchday before the end of the season, FC Augsburg are five points clear of the relegation places, meaning nothing can go wrong for the Fuggerstädtern and relegation has been averted for the eleventh consecutive year in the Bundesliga. Nevertheless, the 35 points from 33 games equates to Augsburg’s third-weakest performance to date after 2012/13 (30) and 2018/19 (32).
In particular, the Bavarian Swabians’ most recent two performances, which brought two defeats with four goals conceded each, left a somewhat dull taste in the mouth. Accordingly, it would be important for FCA to end the season on a positive note, which the betting companies consider very likely. The odds on Augsburg against Fürth are clearly in favour of the Fuggerstädter.
Finally, the Spielvereinigung, who have been relegated for some time, are the only team in the Bundesliga who have not won a single one of their 16 away games. The Central Franconians lost twelve of the 16 games away from home, scored only twelve goals away from home and conceded 47. All of these are unrivalled negative figures in the 2021/22 season.
Accordingly, it is coherent to bet on a home win for Augsburg against Fürth with a small Asian handicap of -1.5.
Augsburg – Statistics & current form
FC Augsburg have truly not covered themselves with glory in the 2021/22 season, as evidenced by the aforementioned classification of the season in the historical Bundesliga context of the Fuggerstädter. As things stand, it is the third worst Bundesliga season ever played by FCA.
Nevertheless, it is already clear ahead of time that the Bavarian Swabians will remain an integral part of the Beletage of German football in the 2022/23 season, which is why achieving the primary goal of the season cannot be denied for Markus Weinzierl’s eleven.
Lost four of last five league games
Nevertheless, the final spurt of the season in particular went anything but well.
Lately, FCA lost four of their last five league games and even conceded four goals in each of the last two games against Cologne (1:4) and RB Leipzig (0:4) in two consecutive league games.
Whether they have managed to stay in the league or not, these recent performances certainly did not live up to the standards that Augsburg set for themselves, which is why the Fuggerstädter are still on course to make amends in the last home game of their eleventh year in the Bundesliga.
Won six of the 16 home games in the Bundesliga
At least the rock-solid home record makes it quite encouraging that the bet on a home win for the Weinzierl eleven at Augsburg against Fürth will work out, which would bring 14th place over the finish line.
They have won six of their 16 home games at the WWK Arena (four draws, six defeats). In addition, there is a good series against the Spielvereinigung, against whom FCA has now been unbeaten for eight games in a row.

Germany Fürth – Statistics & current form
SpVgg Greuther Fürth were never really able to keep up in the top flight of German football at any point, just as they did during their last guest appearance in the Bundesliga, when they only managed to pick up 21 points in the 2012/13 season.
After a disastrous first half of the season, it even looked as if the cloverleaf would set new negative marks for eternity. But at least in the second half of the season, the Central Franconians managed to pick up a point or two. With 13 points from the second half of the season, the Green-Whites are even only the third-worst team in the second half of the season.
Still without an away win in the 2021/22 season
Nevertheless, relegation, which will entail an enormous upheaval, can of course no longer be shaken. Accordingly, the signs for the away game in Augsburg are already clear: goodbye. Many professionals have already signed with other clubs. Coach Stefan Leitl is also moving to Hannover and turning his back on the team.
It is therefore unlikely that the Central Franconians will get their first away win of the 2021/22 season at the 17th attempt in this game of all games, in which the line-up will be quite emotional (for example, Sascha Burchert will be in goal).
By far the weakest defence in the Bundesliga
The Central Franconians did remain unbeaten in three consecutive away games recently and secured three consecutive point splits away from home. However, the weak attack has scored just three goals in the last seven league games, which makes it difficult to believe that Augsburg could be enough for another point.
After all, with 80 goals conceded in 33 league games, the cloverleaf is the absolute shooting gallery of the Bundesliga. The underdog role of the Leitl eleven is correspondingly clear.
Predicted line-up of Fürth:
Burchert – Itter – Viergever – Griesbeck – Asta – Christiansen – Raschl – Tillman – Ngankam – Leweling – Hrgota

Augsburg – Fürth Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 21 – 16 – 32
There have been a total of 69 meetings between the two teams so far, with the Central Franconians even leading the direct comparison with 32 victories. Most recently, however, the duel has been clearly in the hands of the Fuggerstädter, who have not lost any of their last eight competitive games against Fürth (three wins, five draws).
Augsburg – Fürth tip
When it comes to Augsburg vs. Fürth, the prediction clearly goes in the direction of the Fuggerstädter. FCA, who have lost four of their last five league games, have not exactly covered themselves in glory in recent weeks. But against a team that has only picked up four points out of a possible 48 away from home, scored just 12 goals away from home and has already conceded 47 away goals, it should still be enough for a conciliatory end to the season in the end.
Slightly more value can be extracted from a bet on a home win for the Bavarian Swabians by using an Asian handicap of -1.5.
