Will Atletico Madrid take the frustration out of their game against Osasuna?
With just a few minutes remaining, the “Rojiblancos” were leading 3-1 away at Valencia, so the recent draw against their league rivals was all the more surprising. In injury time, Atletico Madrid scored twice. There was no sign of the Madrid defence.
This also exacerbated the form crisis of the defending champions from Madrid. After all, they have only won one of their last six competitive matches. The best betting providers nevertheless see Atletico Madrid against Osasuna as comparatively clear favourites according to the odds this weekend.
The visitors from Pamplona, in contrast to Saturday’s opponents from Madrid, are already winless for four matchdays in a row. Most recently, “Los Rojillos” even suffered two defeats in a row, including the most recent home game against the leaders from San Sebastian.
Nevertheless, head coach Jagoba Arrasate’s team will start the trip to Madrid with a broad chest. CA Osasuna have lost only one away game in La Liga so far. The seventh-placed team in Pamplona even picked up a point at Real Madrid.
Atletico Madrid – Statistics & current form
The week before the international break could not have gone worse for Atletico Madrid. The “Rojiblancos” slipped from second place in the top flight. In addition, they suffered a bitter setback in La Liga at Valencia, where Simeone’s team squandered a comfortable lead in the closing minutes.
At home, Atletico Madrid face Osasuna this weekend. The “Rojiblancos” have celebrated five home victories in a row against their Saturday opponents. Since April 2009, Atletico Madrid have not lost a single home match against “Los Rojillos” from Pamplona.
If the current series is extended this weekend, odds of around 1.44 are available for Atletico Madrid against Osasuna. The defending La Liga champions have not yet lost a home game at the Wanda Metropolitano in 2021/22. In six home games so far, they have a record of 3-3-0.
Will the defensive bulwark hold this time?
Atletico Madrid even have a record of 9-5-1 in their last 15 home games across the season and competition, with head coach Simeone’s side losing only their home game against Liverpool in the group stage of the current Champions League. Surprisingly, Atletico even scored three times in that match.
In any case, the defensive line has been shaky in recent weeks. The “Rojiblancos” conceded two or more goals in five of their last six matches. With the defensive style of play that Simeone prefers at Atletico, the results were by no means comprehensible. It is quite possible that the defensive qualities will be underlined again against CA Osasuna.
After all, Saturday’s opponents provide a manageable attacking department. With Atletico playing an important match in the top flight next week, rotation cannot be ruled out in the course of the game. Due to injuries, only Trippier and Felix are currently out against the visitors from Pamplona. There are no other absences for Atletico.

Osasuna – Statistics & current form
Even before the recent dip in form, it was foreseeable that CA Osasuna would not continue their run of form in the Spanish top flight. After all, head coach Jagoba Arrasate’s side faced the league’s elite in the weeks leading up to the international break. A strong performance against Real Madrid, in which Osasuna earned a well-deserved point, was followed by defeats against Sevilla and Real Sociedad.
Especially the offensive of “Los Rojillos” was far too harmless. They failed to score three times in a row. It is quite possible that the negative trend will continue against the defensive bulwark of Atletico Madrid. CA Osasuna have failed to score in six of their last seven games against the Rojiblancos.
Nevertheless, the visitors from Pamplona are unlikely to hide at Atletico given the way the season has gone so far. CA Osasuna is one of the strongest away teams in the Spanish top flight. Only Real Sociedad and Real Madrid have scored more points away from home than Los Rojillos.
Will the next defeat against Atletico follow?
CA Osasuna have lost six times in a row against the “Rojiblancos” from Madrid. In total, Osasuna conceded 18 goals. It would therefore be all the more surprising if the visitors from Pamplona were to win a point in Madrid this time. Nevertheless, if you want to bet on the underdog, you can get attractive odds on Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna.
To do so, the seventh-placed team in the table will have to work on its offensive play. One of the few bright spots in CA Osasuna’s attack is Roberto Torres. So far, the 32-year-old veteran has two goals and two assists to his name. This puts Torres at the top of the internal goalscoring list for “Los Rojillos”.
Head coach Arrasate will probably only have to do without Aridane Hernandez for the away match in the Spanish capital. There are no other absences for the visitors at the moment.
Predicted line-up of Osasuna:
Herrera – Vidal, Garcia, Garcia, Sanchez – Moncayola, Brasanac, Torro – Avila, Kike, Garcia

10/22 2021 – Osasuna Pamplona 1 – 1 Granada

Atletico Madrid – Osasuna Direct comparison / H2H record
Atletico Madrid and Osasuna meet for the 86th time. The “Rojiblancos” currently lead the direct comparison against CA Osasuna with a record of 44-14-27. Especially in the last few years, Atletico clearly kept the upper hand. Most recently, the club from the Spanish capital even won six games in a row against the visitors from Pamplona.
Since October 2009, Atletico Madrid have only lost once against CA Osasuna. In return, the “Rojiblancos” have won a total of 13 matches in this period. One match, however, ended in a draw.
Atletico Madrid – Osasuna Tip
Because Atletico Madrid have only scored trebles once in the last four matchdays, there is no further scope for dropping points at home to Osasuna. Even before Saturday’s match, the gap to the top of the table is five points. It is therefore all the more important to get back on track against the stumbling visitors from Pamplona.
In the weeks leading up to the international break, the usually strong defensive line of the “Rojiblancos” was particularly shaky. They even conceded three goals against Valencia on the last matchday, with two of the three goals conceded coming in stoppage time.
Nevertheless, the clear favourite role on Saturday evening is understandable. Atletico Madrid not only have by far the stronger squad, but also benefit from home advantage at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday. Moreover, Atletico’s recent record against CA Osasuna has them brimming with confidence.
With a stake of seven units, we place our bet on Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna at good odds of “HT/FT: 1/1”.
