Is there Atletico spectacle again?
One or two people will have rubbed their eyes in amazement in recent weeks as they have followed Atletico Madrid’s results. Not only are the Colchoneros not in particularly good form, the goals conceded are falling like ripe fruit. And so even the minimum goal, i.e. fourth place, is in danger of being squandered.
Before the match between Atletico Madrid and Levante, however, the betting odds also indicate a clear favourite role for the hosts. The essential point is not the quality, this is sufficiently present, but the implementation. And that only in some phases.

It seems difficult to assess Atletico at the moment. There are signs of progress up front, but defensively everything is shaky and there are phases in almost every game in which this team offers something.
Atletico Madrid are currently in fourth place in the table. Barcelona, however, are level on points and games, while Real Sociedad are just one point behind with the same number of games. So there definitely needs to be an improvement in performance between now and the end of the season if they are to achieve their goals. Last season’s champions are therefore struggling to even reach the Champions League.
Atletico Madrid: How can the defence be stabilised?
Frequently Atletico Madrid had to think about how to get their offense going a bit. Defensively, the Rojiblancos have always stood well. It’s different this season, and markedly different. There have been twelve league games so far in which the hosts have conceded two or more goals. This record would have been absolutely unthinkable in recent years.
This leads to further problems. Ten teams have a better defence than the champions, and there is no team in the top five with a worse goal difference. Of course, this leads directly to further problems. Because when the defence is shaky, it’s hard to get good results. Atletico Madrid have lost five of their last ten matches, which is far from ideal.
In addition, there was another setback in the last game against Getafe, when Felipe was sent off, so Simeone will have to rebuild again. Due to the current situation, our prediction before the match between Atletico Madrid and Levante is that more than 2.5 goals will be scored in this match. The home side’s games are just too wild for this not to happen.

Levante – Statistics & current form
Levante’s starting position is markedly different to that of the hosts. Indeed, the problems of Atletico Madrid would like to have the guests. It all looks like relegation, eleven points are far too few so far and Levante are already 13 points behind the saving shore. On Sunday, there were some good offensive approaches, but nevertheless a 2:4 defeat against Real Betis at home.
For long stretches of the season, the offensive has been the biggest problem. Jose Luis Morales, the visitors’ best striker, has six goals to his name, but no other player has scored more than three. Alessio Lisci, the team’s coach, has an extremely difficult task on his hands because the team doesn’t exactly have a lot of self-confidence.
There is very little hope at the moment. Since matchday 8, Levante have been in a relegation spot and have only managed one win all season. That was in a home match, away there have been only two points in eleven games so far. Levante have lost eight times in a row away from home.
Little speaks for Levante
Levante, then, has big problems, not only in terms of points scored, but also generally in all statistics. Only three teams have a weaker offence than the visitors, 50 goals conceded also means the weakest defence in the league. Levante simply don’t play well, produce too many, even very simple mistakes and that is a huge problem.
