Atletico won’t let anything go to waste against a favourite opponent?
Basically, it seems to be a crystal-clear affair when Atletico Madrid vs Elche betting on the Rojiblancos to win at home outshines all other betting options.
After all, the Colchoneros have won all of their last ten league games against Elche and have yet to lose any of their 23 home games against the Franjiverdes in La Liga (20 wins, three draws).
However, Atleti did not present themselves well at all before the World Cup break. Diego Simeone’s side picked up just one point out of a possible nine from their last three league games and slipped to fifth in the table. Nevertheless, the forecast for Atletico Madrid against Elche clearly goes to the Colchoneros. After all, the Franjiverdes, who are bottom of the table without a win, will now be playing at the Estadio Metropolitano.
On the one hand, betting on a home win for the Rojiblancos does not offer very attractive odds, and on the other hand, given the Simeone team’s recent negative streak, another setback cannot be completely ruled out. However, the double chance 1X should be very safe, which can be combined with the bet on under 3.5 goals to create an interesting value tip.
Atletico Madrid – Statistics & current form
Atletico Madrid advanced to a real world club in the past decade under cult coach Diego Simeone. Under the eccentric Argentine, the Rojiblancos won the national championship twice, the Copa del Rey once and the Europa League twice. They have also reached two Champions League finals.
The current year has been correspondingly sobering for the Colchoneros, who are currently only fifth in La Liga and have already lost eight league games in the entire 2022 calendar year – the highest number of defeats since 2011 (15), when Diego Simeone was not yet the Atleti coach.
Lost two of last three league games
The Rojiblancos really hit a snag just before the World Cup break, when they managed to pick up just one point out of a possible nine from three consecutive league games.
The Colchoneros did bounce back last Friday in the Copa del Rey with a 3-1 away win at Arenteiro. But if you exclude the cup games against lower-ranked opponents, five consecutive competitive games without a win (two draws, three defeats) were on the record before the Winter World Cup, which also eliminated Atleti from the Champions League.
Won 20 of 23 home games against Elche in La Liga
Despite this, the betting odds on Atletico Madrid against Elche are swinging heavily in the direction of the Rojiblancos, who have a stellar record against the Franjiverdes. Not only have Atleti won all of their last ten La Liga games against Elche, but the capital has never before suffered a home defeat to Elche in the top flight of Spanish football.
The Colchoneros have won 20 of their 23 home games against Elche so far (three draws), which is why the current less than fearsome home record – Atletico have picked up just eight points out of a possible 18 at home – should not matter too much.

Elche – Statistics & current form
Elche Club de Fútbol is based on the east coast of Spain in the Valencian Community. Founded in 1923, the club celebrates its 100th anniversary next year, but could be relegated from La Liga again in such an important year.
The Franjiverdes are the only team in La Liga to remain winless. With just four points from their 14 league games so far, Elche are in the red. The 13th-placed team from the previous season is already eight points behind the first non-relegation place.
Does Pablo Marchín lead Elche back on track?
This is why those responsible also made adjustments on the coaching bench in the run-up to the Winter World Cup. Pablo Machín will now accompany his team to the capital and lead his first league game for Elche. At least in the Copa del Rey, the debut under the 47-year-old has already been a success, as fourth-division side CD Guadalajara were defeated 3-0 away from home.
The Franjiverdes really have nothing to lose at the Estadio Metropolitano. However, considering that Elche have yet to win any of their 23 La Liga matches here (three draws, 20 defeats), the prediction for Atletico Madrid against Elche is clearly in favour of the Rojiblancos.
Most defeats and goals conceded in La Liga
Coach Pablo Machín needs to improve his team in almost every respect. The winless Eastern Spaniards have the most defeats (ten) and the most goals conceded (31) in La Liga on their record, while the mere ten goals scored is the second weakest figure behind Cádiz.
It is true that the playing quality of the team from the province of Alicante is not overly high. However, it cannot be categorically ruled out that the recent victories in the Copa del Rey, along with the change of coach, might be the spark that sets the team on its way.
Predicted line-up of Elche:

Atletico Madrid – Elche Direct comparison / H2H-balance
Head to head: 32 – 10 – 10
There have been a total of 52 competitive matches between the two teams so far and with 32 wins, the Colchoneros lead the direct comparison with a commanding 61.5% win rate. Most recently, Atletico Madrid won ten league games in a row against the Franjiverdes.
Atletico Madrid – Elche Tip
Although the capitals are winless for three league games, the odds are all form in favour of the Rojiblancos against Elche. After all, the winless bottom team in the league is now visiting the Estadio Metropolitano, which has never been able to record a win away from home at the Colchoneros in 23 attempts in La Liga (three draws, 20 defeats). The coaching change, which at least had a small effect in the Franjiverdes’ 3-0 win in the Copa del Rey, nevertheless makes the visitors difficult to assess.
A lot of value is therefore provided by betting on the double chance 1X with a maximum of three goals for Atletico Madrid against Elche. The Rojiblancos are not known for goal festivals under Diego Simeone anyway, while the Franjiverdes must also be defensively compact in order to initiate a turnaround.
