Does the Blues’ slide continue?
With a yield of only three points out of a possible twelve from the last four league games (three draws, one defeat), Arsenal FC actually seems to be losing out on the championship in the home stretch of the season.
If the Gunners fail to win at home against Chelsea, that should be the end of the matter. However, the Blues will arrive in poor form. Since Frank Lampard returned to the bench, there have been five consecutive defeats across competitions.
All in all, not too much has gone right for the Blues, who have won just one of their last ten Premier League away games (four draws, five defeats). Considering that the Gunners, on the other hand, have not lost any of their eleven London derbies in the Premier League this season (nine wins, two draws), our prediction for Arsenal vs. Chelsea is therefore basically clearly in the direction of the hosts.
Because the team of Mikel Arteta, whose very first defeat as Arsenal coach was, by the way, a home defeat against Chelsea, has remained winless in four league games in a row lately, however, tip 1 resonates a touch too much risk. At least the Blues can defend, whose main problem remains their finishing. However, the last point win was a 0-0 against Liverpool, for example.
Because a result like 0:0 in particular cannot be ruled out, on balance we recommend the combined bet on the double chance 1X with a maximum of three goals in total.
Arsenal – statistics & current form
For long stretches of the 2022/23 season, Arsenal FC were the absolute high flyers in the Premier League. Everything looked as if the Gunners could win the English championship again for the first time since the 2003/04 season.
Then, however, Mikel Arteta’s squad collapsed on the home stretch of the season. For four league games in a row now, the north Londoners have not won (three draws, one defeat) and have now been overtaken by Manchester City. The Sky Blues also have one game less on their account.
Only 15 points left to play for
If City also wins the catch-up game, there would already be a four-point gap between the two teams. The Gunners, in turn, have just five more games to close that gap again. Accordingly, a home win against their in-form city rivals is obligatory.
After all, because four of the last five London derbies have been won against the Blues, the odds are clearly swinging in the direction of the hosts when it comes to Arsenal vs. Chelsea, who also recorded a 1-0 away win at Stamford Bridge in the first leg and could now claim the full six points against the Pensioners for the first time since their last championship season in 2003/04.
Scored in 15 of 16 Premier League home games
However, the north Londoners will have to step up defensively first and foremost. The four-game winless streak is also due to the recent spate of goals conceded. A total of eleven goals were conceded in these four games. In fact, only Southampton has conceded fewer goals at home in the Premier League this season than Arsenal (three times).
Now, however, one of the league’s weakest attacking lines is at the Emirates Stadium, where the Gunners have scored in 15 of their 16 Premier League home games (45 goals in total). The only exception: a 0-0 draw against Newcastle United.

Chelsea – Statistics & current form
Chelsea FC won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel just in the summer of 2021, but subsequently experienced a highly complicated year in the wake of the sale of the club. The fact that the new owners sent the German out the door early in the 2022/23 season didn’t exactly help things calm down.
The Blues lost a whopping eleven of the 26 Premier League games following Tuchel’s sacking (seven wins, eight draws). That’s exactly as many defeats as in a total of 63 league games under the German’s leadership (35 wins, 17 draws).
Only one goal in last seven competitive games
The unsuccessful Graham Potter was now followed by returnee Frank Lampard, under whom really nothing worked out. Five competitive games, five defeats. That’s the sad record under the club icon. All in all, Chelsea have not won any of their last eight competitive games (two draws, six defeats).
The Blues’ biggest shortcoming is still their failure to convert their chances. The pensioners have scored just one goal in their last seven competitive matches. It will be correspondingly difficult to get anything worthwhile from the current runners-up in the table.
The most games lost in 35 years
Away, too, little went right for the troops from the London borough of Fulham. The Blues have won only one of their last ten Premier League away games (four draws, five defeats). Accordingly, there is little to be said for Arsenal’s forecast of a point win against Chelsea for the Pensioners, who are only 13th in the Premier League away table.
If there is even another defeat, Chelsea would already be at 20 lost matches in the 2022/23 season. The last time the Blues had so many defeats on record was in the 1987/88 season, which underlines the crisis the club is in all the more clearly.

Arsenal – Chelsea Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 82 – 58 – 66
There have been a total of 206 meetings between the two teams so far and with 82 wins, the Gunners clearly lead the head-to-head comparison against their city rivals. Admittedly, there was a 0:2 defeat in the last Premier League home match against the Blues. However, Arsenal have won five of their last six encounters.
Arsenal – Chelsea Tip
When it comes to Arsenal vs Chelsea, the betting odds do swing very clearly in the direction of the home-strong Gunners. However, with Mikel Arteta’s side winless in four league games (three draws, one defeat) and thus probably losing the championship, betting on the hosts is anything but a foregone conclusion. After all, the Blues have been defensively sound at times and were also able to defy a goal-scoring opponent in their last point win (0-0 against Liverpool).
While the Gunners have kept a clean sheet in just three Premier League home games this season (second lowest behind Southampton), they have always scored at least one goal in 15 of their 16 home games. The only exception, however, was Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle.
In order not to exclude the possibility of a 0-0 draw, we recommend betting on the double chance with less than 3.5 goals for Arsenal against Chelsea.
