The Rossoneri coach risks a fine or a suspension to be served in the league

Massimiliano Allegri will be sanctioned for his attack on Gabriele Oriali during the Super Cup semifinal between Napoli and Milan. Although the referee’s report seems to have said practically nothing about it (also because otherwise they would have had to send him off), it was the federal inspectors – present, as is well known, on all playing fields – who clarified the matter. Already during the night, FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè was able to read the report of his inspectors who saw and reported everything, thus rendering the TV evidence useless (also because it is inapplicable, as noted in the Folorunsho case). The report allegedly mentions repeated personal insults.

Possible sanctions—  Chinè will now ask the Sports Judge to sanction Allegri’s conduct. How? The code provides for a fine or, in more serious cases, a suspension (which would be served in the league), but it seems that this time the Milan coach may get away with a financial penalty alone. Obviously, it depends on what the inspectors reported in detail, which could go beyond what was seen on TV. Napoli’s position is clear. In its public complaint, it speaks of Oriali being “heavily insulted with offensive and repeated terms” and of “aggression, totally out of control.” We will know everything tomorrow when the Sports Judge’s statement is released.
