Piastri leads, Norris has closed in, but it is the Red Bull phenomenon who is now scaring the McLaren duo: the situation

The F1 World Championship is wide open again after the Austin weekend. Max Verstappen’s victory in the Sprint and the US Grand Prix has shaken the McLaren duo, as the reigning Red Bull champion is now 40 points behind leader Oscar Piastri, with Lando Norris closing the gap on his teammate and now trailing by 14 points. There are five weekends left in the 2025 World Championship, two of which feature the Sprint format, meaning 141 points are still up for grabs: Mexico (October 24-26); Brazil (Sprint, November 7-9); Las Vegas (November 20-22); Qatar (Sprint, November 28-30); Abu Dhabi (December 5-7). But while Verstappen races “alone,” the McLaren pair risks taking points off each other as they battle it out for the Drivers’ title in an internal head-to-head.
