Philipsen unstoppable again?
A busy day awaits the teams with the sprint specialists today. The fourth flat stage of the “Grand Loop” is coming up! Which 11th stage of the TDF 2023 tip does the betting base see as promising?
So far, the flat stages have been firmly in the hands of Jasper Philipsen. The Belgian won all three previous stages of this kind! This means that after two victories last year, he already has five victories on the stages of the Tour of France on his CV.
No wonder that the Alpecin-Fenix rider is again counted among the 11th stage favourites to win the Tour de France today. However, he is not without competition. Among his fiercest opponents are professionals like the Australian Caleb Ewan or Biniam Girmay from Eritrea.
Last year, the latter became the first African cyclist to win the Ghent-Wevelgem semi-classic and a stage in the Giro d’Italia. With a stage win at the Tour, the Intermarché-Circus-Wanty rider would write another great chapter in African cycling history
The course of the 11th stage at the 2023 Tour de France
The eleventh stage starts in Clermont-Ferrand. The last time the city acted as the opener for a stage of the day at the 2020 Tour was when the route led to Lyon and it was won by Denmark’s Sören Kragh Andersen, who also features as an Alpecin-Deceuninck rider in the current edition of the Tour of France.
However, he cannot be counted among the 11th stage TDF 2023 favourites. The route to the finish in Moulins can initially be described as hilly. However, this applies mainly to the first part of the stage with two smaller mountain classifications.
Afterwards, the stage becomes flatter and flatter, although there is at least one more mountain classification, the Cote de la Croix Blanche. Nevertheless, it can be foreseen that in the 11th stage of the TDF 2023, tips and odds on representatives of the sprinters could be worthwhile. The conditions at the finish, where a 1,300-metre-long finishing straight is ideally designed for a bunch sprint, also speak in favour of this.
Bauhaus was already close
After all, Phil Bauhaus, a German rider, can be counted among the extended circle of 11th stage TDF favourites. The pro from Bocholt rides for Bahrain Victorius and has already recorded two podium finishes on the flat stages in his first participation in the “Grand Boucle”.
11th stage Tour de France tip
In the 11th stage of the Tour de France, prediction and odds on Jasper Philipsen to win again are worth considering. With a decision in a bunch sprint looming large on today’s stage, the Belgian is once again the top favourite. With his already three wins in the sprint he has presented himself as clearly the best rider in this field at the Tour so far.
Philipsen’s form in 2023 has also been right before, with stage wins at Tirreno-Adriatico or triumphs in the one-day races Classic Brugge-De Panne and Scheldeprijs in his native Flanders. Second place in this year’s edition of the Paris-Roubaix classic should also not be left out of this list.
