Will the Eagles get their fourth win in a row against the Giants?
The Eagles host the Giants on Saturday night. The host is clearly favoured at Lincoln Financial Field. In the regular season Philadelphia could win both duels against New York. For this reason, the betting odds between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants this coming weekend point to a win for the Eagles.
Nick Sirianni’s side have won seven of their last nine games at home, making them a strong home side. Moreover, the form is absolutely in favour of the hosts, who have lost only one game with Jalen Hurts. We deliberately neglect the two defeats with Minshew as the starting quarterback at this point.
The Giants have four wins from eight games away from home. Thus, the yield in the away games is not scary and the form does not really speak for the guests either. New York have only won four of their last eleven games. Thus, between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, the odds of the bookmakers are absolutely understandable.
If the visitors are to stand a chance, one player in particular will have to deliver alongside Daniel Jones. By that we mean running back Saquon Barkley, without whom the Giants probably wouldn’t have made the NFL playoffs in the first place. After his strong performance against the Minnesota Vikings, he now has to step it up a notch. We think he can do that after the season he has had so far, which is why we recommend betting on a Barkley touchdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.
Philadelphia Eagles – Statistics & current form
The Philadelphia Eagles lost only three games in the Regular Season and led the NFC with 14 wins. With Jalen Hurts as the starting quarterback, Nick Sirianni’s team even had only one loss. As the best team in the National Football Conference, the hosts are one of the favourites for the title.
Should the Eagles beat the New York Giants, either the Francisco 49ers or the Dallas Cowboys would be waiting in the conference final. First, however, they must deliver next Sunday, as the Vikings also entered the game as favourites against that opponent.
Jalen Hurts – one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL
The Eagles quarterback has played an outstanding season so far and has been instrumental in Philadelphia’s success. He not only threw 22 touchdown passes, but also scored 13 rushing touchdowns himself. He has also been able to significantly improve his passing percentage and seems to be steadily improving. After missing the playoffs in his first year and being eliminated in round one in his second season, he now wants to take the next step together with his team. We will continue to see a lot from him in the future, we are sure of it.
The flexibility in the offense
Philadelphia averaged 28.1 points in the regular season, giving them the third-best offense in the National Football League. The Eagles don’t seem to have any weaknesses on offense, as Nick Sirianni’s team has its qualities in both the running game and the passing game.
With A. J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Jalen Hurts has two very strong pass receivers in the team. In addition, Philadelphia also has another good runner in Miles Sanders. It’s no surprise, then, that the Eagles finished the Regular Season with 14 wins.
Key players of the Philadelphia Eagles:
QB: Jalen Hurts – RB: Miles Sanders – WR: A. J. Brown – WR: DeVonta Adams – K: Ezekiel Elliott
New York Giants – Statistics & current form
The New York Giants finished the regular season in fifth place in the NFC. With nine wins, Joe Judge’s team was nowhere near as commanding as their upcoming opponent. In the first round of the NFL playoffs, however, the Giants surprised with a win against the Minnesota Vikings. The team will want to build on this success and as clear underdogs in the upcoming duel, New York has nothing to lose. However, the record against the big teams is not particularly promising this season.
Matchwinner Saquon Barkley
The Giants’ running back was the decisive man on the field in the game against the Minnesota Vikings. He ran for 53 yards and also caught passes for 56 yards. He also scored two of the four touchdowns and thus continued his good season.
In total, he now has twelve rushing touchdowns and is thus the most dangerous player on the visitors’ side. Together with quarterback Daniel Jones, he is responsible for the well-functioning running game. It’s no wonder that New York is way ahead in the area of rushing yards.
The weak defense against the running game
The Giants have major problems defensively against the run game and that will likely be their undoing against Philadelphia. Unlike the Vikings, the Eagles are extremely strong in the running game and will certainly be able to exploit that weakness.
No other team still in the playoffs allows as many rushing yards as New York. And Brian Daboll’s team is only solid against the passing game as well. So it’s hard to imagine the defense being able to hold its own against Philly’s offense.
Key players for the New York Giants:
QB: Daniel Jones – RB: Saquon Barkley – WR: Richie James – S: Julian Love – K: Graham Gano
Philadelphia Eagles – New York Giants Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
The direct comparison between the two teams goes to the hosts. The Eagles have already won 69 games, while the Giants stand at 47 victories. In the recent past, Philadelphia has won three in a row against New York.
The last meeting was just a fortnight ago and should be a good indicator for the upcoming game. For this reason, our forecast between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants clearly points to a home win. We doubt that the visitors will be able to pull off another surprise.
Philadelphia Eagles – New York Giants Tip
Looking at the odds before the clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, the bookmakers seem to be assuming a clear affair. We are offered odds of around 1.29 for a home win. We also see the hosts clearly ahead, because the guests cannot normally keep up with the game.
Above all, New York cannot hide its defensive weakness against the running game. For this reason, we are playing the tip between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants on a halftime final score victory for the hosts.
We’ve already addressed the Eagles’ potent offense several times, so we don’t need to explain the following tip in full. Philadelphia will make the play and will likely be on the field significantly longer with the O-Line. Not every attack will end in the end zone and therefore we find the odds for over 1.5 field goals by the hosts very interesting. In the last duel between the two teams, Ezekiel Eliott even kicked five field goals and therefore this bet should pay off.
