Will the Eagles win their season opener in Brazil?

Bem-Vindo ao Brasil! That’s the word on Friday when the first ever NFL game will be played in Brazil. More specifically, our Eagles vs Packers betting tip will take place in Sao Paulo – although Philadelphia will be the home team.

What can Brazilian NFL fans expect from this game? Two of the secret favorites for this year’s Super Bowl, with the Eagles in particular having upgraded heavily in the offseason.

The Eagles have signed four new starters in Barkley, Dotson, Huff and Gardner-Johnson and have also replaced their two coordinators. Offense coordinator is now Kellen Moore, while veteran Vic Fangio is in charge of the defense.

So our prediction for Eagles vs Packers is an exciting clash, which the Eagles are likely to win in the end as they are simply a little stronger individually. In addition, they have always had a very good start to their seasons

Kickoff of the first NFL game in Brazil is at 02:15 on Saturday night in Sao Paulo. The game can be watched live on DAZN.

Philadelphia Eagles – Statistics & current form

Philly goes Brazil. The Philadelphia Eagles are the first team ever to play a home game on the South American continent and it’s likely to be a cracker. Because their games against the Packers always promise a few points.

The last time they met two years ago, 73 points were scored, the same as ten years ago. Overall, the average over the last five duels is 58.6 points. The target for Friday is 48.5 – which immediately brings the possibility of more points into focus

Difficult start to the season for tips

However, some teams always find the start of the season more difficult than others and it is not yet possible to predict exactly how they will get off to a good start in Brazil. We would therefore consider over 50 points to be a bit much, but over 45 points should be achievable in any case.

Let’s move on to the favorites, which clearly lie with the Eagles. Because they are always right there at the start of the season. In each of the two previous seasons, they started with a 10:1 record, which also put them at the top of the NFL at the time

Eagles with numerous new additions

With their top newcomers, especially Saquon Barkley, they are also the better team individually. Their defense with new coordinator Vic Fangio as well as Bryce Huff and CJ Gardner-Johnson should also have clearly improved in quality.

Just like their offense with Barkley, Dotson and a finally fit Hurts. They should be able to increase the 25.5 points they scored per game in the pre-season this season.

This makes a bet on Philadelphia + Over 41.5 points the bet of our choice for Eagles vs Packers. Although this leaves us just under seven points short of the 48.5 points, we can take considerable odds in combination with a Philly win.

Key Players:

  • QB: Jalen Hurts
  • RB: Saquon Barkley
  • WR: A.J. Brown
  • TE: Dallas Goeddert
  • K: Jake Elliott

Green Bay Packers – Statistics & current form

The Packers are quite familiar with the Brazilian colors green and yellow. They are also likely to be well represented in the stadium in Sao Paulo – and yet the Packers have an away game. Let’s see which fans are really in the majority there in Brazil.

But the home or away advantage is unlikely to play a major role in this game anyway. That’s why we’d rather focus on the points that could be decisive. For example, the changes to the squad compared to the previous season

Packers not with the big new additions

Two names in particular are missing from Green Bay’s roster this season. Firstly, O-lineman David Bakthiari left the Packers after a total of eleven years. Another important pillar of their offense, Aaron Jones, also left. In addition, A.J. Dillon suffered such a serious injury in the preseason that his season is already over.

Not the best conditions, but with Josh Jacobs they have at least landed a pretty good replacement for Jones. We expect the Packers’ offense to dominate many games again and clearly surpass last year’s output of just 22.5 points.

It must be said, however, that this includes many games in which Jordan Love did not work out at quarterback. Later, things clicked and they scored at least 33 points in three of their last five games of the season (including playoffs).

It’s too early for Packers tips

So who will start the season better? If we look at the preseason, it should be the Eagles. The individual class in the squad also speaks for it. And then all of their key players are fit at the moment.

We’re not going with the Packers here, but with Philly and so the odds on the Eagles are to be exploited in Philadelphia vs. Green Bay. Whether in combination with over points or with a handicap of 2.5 to 3.5 points – both are recommended.

Key Players:

  • QB: Jordan Love
  • RB: Josh Jacobs
  • WR: Christian Watson
  • TE: Luke Musgrave
  • K: Brayden Narveson

Philadelphia Eagles – Green Bay Packers head-to-head comparison / H2H record

In the last direct comparison, Aaron Rodgers was still the Packers’ starting quarterback. However, Jordan Love was allowed on the field for a few snaps and even threw a touchdown without an interception.

Since then, however, the two teams have not met again, which is why the cards are now being reshuffled. We see the Eagles as a step ahead here, as they are a little more versatile than the Packers with their many playmakers (Hurts, Barkley, Brown, Smith).

Thus, for Philly vs. Green Bay, a bet on the Eagles + over points is the selected bet of our choice. However, a pure win bet on Philadelphia is also possible at this point

Philadelphia Eagles – Green Bay Packers betting tip

First matchday and thus also the first assessment of the situation for these two teams. If we take the combination of last year’s performance and the changes in the squad, then both are slightly in favor of the Eagles.

Thus, the odds on the Eagles + Over 41.5 total points are our number one recommendation for Philadelphia vs. Green Bay, as we get proud odds of 2.30 (Bwin).

We also have a player bet as an alternative: on a touchdown from Saquon Barkley. Although he is new to the Philly offense, he should fit in perfectly with his explosiveness and be able to take a snap or two from Jalen Hurts in front of the goal line.
