Will the New York Jets suffer their fourth defeat in a row?
The New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins face off on Friday evening. The roles seem to be quite clear beforehand, because while the visitors are not only playing to win the AFC East but also the entire AFC, the home side has little chance of reaching the NFL playoffs. For this reason, the bookmakers’ odds between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins clearly favor a win for the visiting team
The home side are currently on a run of three defeats in a row and are therefore completely out of form. In addition, Robert Saleh’s team will start the game with Tim Boyle at third-string quarterback. On the other hand, the Dolphins are in outstanding form and also boast the best offense in the NFL. For this reason, the odds of the bookmakers are clearly against a home win between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins
We recommend betting on a Raheem Mostert touchdown between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. The visitors’ running back is in outstanding form and has already scored 13 touchdowns this season. Since the home side’s defense has big problems against the running game, we are pretty sure that the Phins’ top scorer will find his way into the end zone in this game as well
Kickoff for this AFC game is Friday at 9:00 p.m. at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The game can be watched live and in full on DAZN.
New York Jets – Statistics & current form
New York currently find themselves in third place in the AFC East, making them one of the weakest teams in the American Football Conference.
With a win against the Miami Dolphins, however, the Jets could start a run and bounce back. With teams like the Atlanta Falcons, the Houston Texans, the Washington Commanders, the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots, the remaining schedule is not particularly difficult, so the Jets still have it in their own hands.
Quarterback No. 3
Aaron Rodgers suffered a serious injury in the first game against the Buffalo Bills and will probably not be back on the field until the end of the year. Therefore, Zach Wilson took over the role of starting quarterback and led the Jets on the field the past few weeks. However, with just six touchdown passes in ten games, the youngster has failed to impress and has therefore come in for heavy criticism.
One of the hopefuls
Breece Hall is one of the few bright spots in the Jets’ offense. The running back has already amassed 544 rushing yards this season, ranking him 19th in the league, but let’s not forget that the home side’s RB is only 22 years old and is only in his second NFL season. What’s more, the youngster has already scored four touchdowns, making him New York’s top scorer.
Safe starting center
Garrett Wilson has caught 57 passes for 651 yards this season, ranking him 21st. With just two touchdowns in ten appearances, the Jets’ wide receiver still needs to work on his effectiveness. But here too, we should not forget that the pass receiver is only in his second season and is only 23 years old. New York’s offense therefore rests on the shoulders of two youngsters.
Strong defense
While the offense is struggling, the Jets’ defense is doing a very decent job. Robert Saleh’s team only allows an average of 20.4 points, which puts them in eleventh place. Nevertheless, the hosts’ D-line has a clear weakness, as only two teams in the NFL allow more yards against the run. In the game against the Miami Dolphins, however, that could be enough for a defeat.
Key players for the New York Jets:
- QB: Tim Boyle
- RB: Breece Hall
- WR: Garrett Wilon
- LB: Quincy Williams
- K: Greg Zuerlein
Miami Dolphins – stats & current form
Miami currently leads the AFC East and is on its way to the playoffs. Mike McDaniel’s team has won seven of its ten games and could even jump into first place in the American Football Conference with a win against the New York Jets. With the Browns, the Jaguars, the Chiefs, the Ravens and the Dolphins, five teams are fighting for Seed 1.
The next four games are particularly important for the visitors, as four wins against teams like New York, Washington and Tennessee are quite realistic. This will be followed by three tough games against the Cowboys, Ravens and Bills.
Excellent season
Tua Tagovailoa is currently one of the best players at his position and manages to deliver week in, week out. The Dolphins quarterback has already amassed 2,934 passing yards this season, throwing 21 touchdown passes and completing 69.7% of his throws so far. He is also one of the best in the NFL in the categories of interceptions and sacks. So far, there is no weakness to be found in the head of the Phins
One of the top scorers
Raheem Mostert scored 19 touchdowns in his first eight years in the NFL and was a rather average offensive player until then. This season, the Dolphins’ running back celebrated his big breakthrough at the tender age of 31 and has 13 touchdowns after just ten games. Christian McCaffrey is currently the only player who has found his way into the end zone more often this season
On course for a record
Tyreek Hill is currently by far the best pass receiver in the National Football League and has already amassed 1,222 receiving yards. The Phins’ wide receiver is therefore on course to set a new record and could reach over 2,000 yards with his current average. In addition, “Cheetah” has scored more touchdowns (9) this season than any other player at his position.
Air to the top
The visitors currently have the best offense in the league and are extremely strong at every position in the O-line. The flip side of the coin, however, is the defense, which has not yet performed particularly well. Mike McDaniel’s team is conceding an average of 23.8 points, putting them in the lower midfield of the NFL. However, this is primarily due to the defensive work in the red zone, as the D-line has not allowed many yards so far.
Key players for the Miami Dolphins:
- QB: Tua Tagovailoa
- RB: Raheem Mostert
- WR: Tyreek Hill
- LB: Jaelan Phillips
- K: Jason Sanders
New York Jets – Miami Dolphins head-to-head / H2H record
The direct comparison of the two teams goes to the favorite. The Dolphins have won 58 duels against the Jets, while the home side currently have 48 wins. The last time the two teams met was on matchday 17 of the previous season, almost eleven months ago. Back then, the Phins won 11:6 in a rather uneventful game. For this reason too, our prediction between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins is clearly in favor of the visiting team:
New York Jets – Miami Dolphins betting tip
This Friday is shaping up to be a very one-sided game, because while the visitors are in top form, the home side have lost three games in a row. In addition, the hosts have the weakest offense in the league, while the Phins are averaging 30.5 points per game. We therefore play the betting tip between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins on a halftime lead for the visiting team in conjunction with a victory for the visitors
In the game against the Buffalo Bills, the Jets allowed 32 points and were completely overwhelmed both offensively and defensively. We can therefore very well imagine that Robert Saleh’s team will also go down in the game against the Phins and end up losing by a clear margin. We therefore recommend the odds for at least one point for the visitors in each quarter between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins
