Will the Bengals start their comeback now?
“Last Exit New York” is the name of the game for the Cincinnati Bengals in our Giants vs. Bengals tip for Sunday night. Because another loss is something Joe Burrow and Co. cannot afford if they want to avoid the season going down the drain early.
Especially not after the high hopes they had before the season. The Giants’ expectations were significantly lower, and yet they have the slightly better record so far with 2-3 wins compared to Cincinnati’s 1-4 record.
The Bengals showed against Baltimore, however, what they are really made of when they turn it on. Not every team scores 38 points against the Ravens. On the other side, however, there were 41, and that is precisely what shows the Bengals’ major weakness: their defense.
Against the Giants, who are weak offensively, this shouldn’t be as big a factor, which is why our prediction for New York against Cincinnati is still an away win for the Bengals, in which Ja’Marr Chase should also contribute at least one touchdown again.
Kickoff of the Sunday Night Game is on Sunday night at 2:20 a.m. in New York. The game can be followed live on DAZN.
New York Giants – Statistics & current form
2:3 – that doesn’t sound as bad as many experts would have expected before the season. With a home win against the Bengals, the Giants could even their record. Especially the win in Seattle last weekend should give hope.
That was their first really good game, and they controlled it. If it hadn’t been for their fumble in front of the goal line in the first quarter, they could have wrapped this up even sooner. The most surprising thing about it: all of this happened without Malik Nabers.
The Giants hope for Nabers’ return
As of Wednesday, Nabers still had not returned to practice this week either, but there is little doubt that he will return to the field on Sunday. A curse or a blessing for New York?
Without him, they had to make significant adjustments to their offense and became less predictable for Seattle. This did them a lot of good and they ended up with 420 total yards. So the key is to find a way to integrate Nabers into this type of offense.
The loss of Singletary certainly helped, as it gave Tyrone Tracy his chance, who took full advantage with 129 rushing yards. We would stick with Tracy now and only use Singletary as a receiving back. Then the chances are good to at least keep up with Cincinnati.
Tips on Giants a risk
We would still bet less on New York, though, because their offense has been too inconsistent before. They still have to prove that the game against Seattle was not a blip. However, it is certainly possible against the Bengals’ defense, which is also rather vulnerable.
We expect this game to be high scoring. However, the Bengals are likely to score more points than New York, who have scored 51 more points over the course of the season. So, the odds for Cincinnati are a bit better than for New York in the Giants vs.
Key Players:
- QB: Daniel Jones
- RB: Devin Singletary
- WR: Malik Nabers
- TE: Theo Johnson
- K: Greg Joseph
Cincinnati Bengals – Statistics & current form
38 points scored and still lost. This was the fate that befell the Bengals on Sunday against the Ravens, although they should never have lost the game. They recovered a fumble at the opposing 38-yard line and then did absolutely nothing with it.
Three runs, three yards of space gained and then a missed field goal. It was the beginning of the end for Cincinnati and proof that things just aren’t going right for them this season. Not for Burrow, not for the kicking team and certainly not for their defense.
Bengals defense continues to be atrocious
With 29.0, the Bengals allow the second most points of all teams. Especially the 151.4 rushing yards allowed per game stand out here. revolving door would be an understatement. If they don’t fix this problem, they won’t win many more games.
Normally, we wouldn’t have considered this a big problem against the Giants, but after Tyrone Tracy made such a strong impression, the point could become problematic on Sunday. We are curious to see how they get him under control. If he runs over 100 yards again, it will be very tight for Cincinnati with the much-needed away win. Accordingly, caution is advised with regard to the Giants vs. Bengals betting odds.
Tips on Bengals and Chase possible
Of course, the Bengals are still favorites – if only because of their own offense. But what handicap can we give them? Certainly not too much with their porous defense. Tips on Bengals -3.5 are the maximum.
In our view, the odds of Ja’Marr Chase scoring a touchdown are more playable for the Giants against the Bengals. They are still up to 2.15, even though Chase has scored a total of five touchdowns in his last three games. This is where you have to strike.
Key Players:
- QB: Joe Burrow
- RB: Zach Moss
- WR: Ja’Marr Chase
- TE: Mike Gesicki
- K: Evan McPherson
New York Giants – Cincinnati Bengals Head-to-Head Record
All too often, these two teams don’t meet. There have been only 11 duels since 1972. It’s amazing, though, that the Bengals have not had a single success in New York in all that time.
The last meeting was four years ago. At that time, the quarterback for the Bengals was Brandon Allen. So this statistic is not really meaningful. The last few appearances are more relevant and should give both teams a little reason for hope.
We can imagine good performances from both offenses, which means that over points also come into play here. In particular, the vulnerable Bengals defense makes the odds on over 48.0 total points interesting for New York against Cincinnati.
New York Giants – Cincinnati Bengals Tip
Do we trust the Bengals, who should win this game with their offense, or do we distrust their defense? That is one of the big questions before this game. We have found a charming way out.
For Giants vs. Bengals, our favorite option is a tip for a touchdown by Ja’Marr Chase. This pays off both on their good offense and on the excellent form of Chase, who has been unstoppable lately (5 touchdowns in 3 games).
Alternatively, however, handicap bets on the Bengals are also possible. -3.5 points as a handicap is still manageable in our view. However, we wouldn’t give them much more than that, as we always have to expect them to allow well over 20 points defensively. Finally, between the Giants and the Bengals, a prediction can be made that the Giants will score at least two field goals.
