Will Memphis bounce back?
The Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors will contest Game 2 of the series in the Western Conference semi-finals. The home side suffered a razor-thin 116-117 defeat in the first meeting.
Memphis Grizzlies – Statistics & current form
The Grizzlies delivered a solid performance in the first game despite the loss. Only Desmond Bane was not able to continue his strong offensive performances from the previous series against Minnesota against the Warriors.
Instead, head coach Taylor Jenkins could once again rely on Ja Morant. The new NBA MIP scored 34 points, the best output of all players on the court. Furthermore, he only just missed a triple-double with ten assists and nine rebounds.
Although he missed the decisive bucket in the last action of the game with an unsuccessful basket, the guard was otherwise extremely efficient on both ends of the court.
Golden State Warriors – Statistics & current form
The “Dubs” remained just one point below their average scoring total so far in the postseason with 117 points. Head Coach Steve Kerr could thus once again be satisfied with his team’s performance going forward.
This was especially true for Jordan Poole, who showed improvement after a weaker performance in the previous game against the Nuggets.
The six-time champion from San Francisco scored 31 points. Especially his three-pointers were on target: Poole sank half of his ten attempts from downtown.
Memphis Grizzlies – Golden State Warriors Tip
Tennessee basketball failed to capitalise on a chance to win in the last game, although the early ejection of Draymond Green weakened their opponents.
For the upcoming clash between the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors in Game 2, the tip aims for more than 17.5 rebounds and assists by Ja Morant on the part of the hosts.
In the 2022 postseason, the current MIP has once again noticeably improved in these two areas and the upward trend also continued in the first duel with the “Dubs”.
The guard now has a streak of six games in the playoffs in which he has at least 19 boards and successful assists for his teammates.
