Will the Chiefs remain the measure of all things in the playoffs?

Curtain up for round 2 of the 2025 NFL playoffs – also known as the divisional playoffs. Once again, the Houston Texans have the honor of opening it with our Chiefs vs. Texans tip. Whether they will be as successful again as they were last week, however, is questionable.

The Chiefs have had an extra week of rest to come up with a plan to once again storm through the AFC playoffs. As a result, the defending champions are also considered the heavy favorites on Saturday night at 10:30 p.m.

8.5 points of handicap are currently given to them, which makes betting on them quite difficult. Because if the Chiefs have stood for anything this regular season, it’s close victories.

So our prediction for Chiefs vs Texans is that the Chiefs will advance, but that the winning margin will once again be in the single digits. This means that we need another option for a combo bet, which we will discuss below.
Kickoff of this opening game in the NFL Divisional Round is on Saturday evening at 10:30 p.m. in Kansas City. The game can be watched live again on RTL and DAZN.

Kansas City Chiefs – Statistics & current form

The reigning champions are going on a three-peat tour. At least that’s the plan, and if any team is capable of winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy three times in a row, it’s the Chiefs.

Hardly any expert doubts that the Chiefs will easily overcome their opening hurdle on Saturday. However, whether they will do so with more than the 8.5 point handicap is another question. After all, their opponents from Houston looked really strong defensively in the Wild Card round against LA.

Chiefs with advantages in all areas of the team

However, the Chiefs defense is once again a top 5 defense this season. On average, they only allow 19.2 points per game – the fourth-best value. In addition, this is also 2.7 points less than the equally good Texans defense.

So this point goes to the Chiefs. However, since both defenses are strong, the odds for Houston are on the under-points for Kansas City. Although the points are set quite low at 42.5, but even this number can still be played.

Tips on Chiefs in combinations possible

Nevertheless, we believe there is an even better option for incorporating the under points. Win tips on the Chiefs + under points, where these can then be increased by a few points – up to 46 or 47 total points.

In any case, numerous combo tips are possible with a Chiefs victory. Another one: Chiefs win + Travis Kelce touchdown. The Chiefs’ star tight end has already scored 19 touchdowns in 22 playoff games, putting him in 4th place among all-time NFL players.

Mahomes will surely look for – and find – his go-to guy for the important moments again on Saturday.

Key Players:

  • QB: Patrick Mahomes
  • RB: Isaiah Pacheco
  • WR: DeAndre Hopkins
  • TE: Travis Kelce
  • K: Harrison Butker

Houston Texans – statistics & current form

We already thought so in the last article about the Texans – they are underrated. Hardly any playoff team this season has been covered less and many were even disappointed by their performances.

Of course, this was mainly due to the outstanding rookie season of C. J. Stroud, which he could not quite confirm. But the Texans have their strengths again this season. running back Joe Mixon, for example, or their already mentioned defense.

Texans running game is underrated

When talking about a good running game in the NFL, we quickly end up with the Eagles, Ravens or the Lions. But another team has discovered its running DNA this season and that’s the Texans.

Even though they hit a bit of a rough patch around the middle of the season, they rediscovered it in the last game of the season against the Titans (207 rushing yards) and in the first playoff round against the Chargers (168 rushing yards).

The Chiefs only allow an average of 101.8 yards against the run, but in our opinion, the running game is still the biggest chance for Houston to keep the game close.

Tips on kickers and under-points

In addition to the run game, the Texans’ defense is also a major asset. Last Saturday, they held the Chargers to just twelve points and the week before, they held the Titans to just 14. So, once again, the betting odds for under-points for Chiefs vs.

Alternatively, for Kansas City vs. Houston, a tip on Over 1.5 field goals by the Texans is possible. Ka’imi Fairbairn scored three field goals last Saturday and also converted his two FG attempts in the first duel with the Chiefs a few weeks ago.

Key Players:

  • QB: C. J. Stroud
  • RB: Joe Mixon
  • WR: Nico Collins
  • TE: Dalton Schultz
  • K: Ka’imi Fairbairn

Kansas City Chiefs – Houston Texans Direct comparison / H2H record

The last four duels between these two teams have all been won by Kansas City, the last one just four weeks ago with 27:19. We could see a similar result again on Saturday – at least we don’t expect more points than last time.

We don’t expect either of these defenses to be able to score more than 46 points against this Houston team, and in general, we are forecasting a rather low-scoring game for Kansas City against Houston. The first-round playoff games also prove us right on this point.

Even if we take all six wild card games together, the 44-point total was not exceeded a single time. Under-points are therefore again a nice betting option for the upcoming round (with the exception of the Lions game).

Kansas City Chiefs – Houston Texans Tip

Do we trust the Chiefs to cover their 8.5-point handicap or not? We tend to be skeptical about this and therefore have to look for an alternative tip. However, we find this when we look at the Mr. Playoffs of recent years.

Travis Kelce already has the fourth-most playoff touchdowns on his record and will surely want to add to that tally. So our top betting option for Chiefs v Texans is Kansas City + a touchdown from Kelce, which also offers outstanding value.

As alternatives, we have already brought the under points into play, although for Chiefs vs. Texans, the odds on a touchdown by Travis Kelce are still good even without a Chiefs win. However, we recommend the combination, as there is probably no way around a Chiefs win here.
