Will the Packers catch up now?
The Packers are back – but will they stay on track now? If the second half against the Cowboys is anything to go by, they’re definitely a team to be taken seriously again, especially at home in Lambeau Field.
They are now on 16 wins from their last 17 games there and it’s hard to imagine them taking their foot off the gas now and losing to the Titans. Tennessee is now not considered the strongest away team either, which also plays into Green Bay’s cards.
The last duel at Lambeau Field two years ago went to the Packers by an incredible 40:14 points, which makes them the clear favourites for us on Thursday. With Christian Watson they finally seem to have a capable No.1 receiver again.
For this reason, our prediction for Green Bay vs. Tennessee is a clear success for the Packers, who should not need an overtime this time. However, they should not sleep through the start of the game again.
Kickoff of the Thursday Night Game is in Green Bay on Friday night at 02:15. The game can be watched live on DAZN.
Green Bay Packers – Statistics & current form
Head. Sling. Rodgers. These three words were frequently used against the Cowboys last Sunday, when the Packers just managed to pull their heads out of the noose and win their first game after five consecutive defeats.
Several times they were on the brink of defeat, not least when trailing 14-28 with a fourth-down try of 7 yards. But then it was the magic of Aaron Rodgers again who made the comeback possible – together with a rather unlikely hero: Christian Watson.
Watson the hoped-for No.1 receiver?
This Christian Watson celebrated his breakout game against Dallas with 107 yards and three touchdowns, something they had been eagerly waiting for in Green Bay. It seems Rodgers and Watson have built chemistry now, though, which should give them confidence.
With Watkins and Lazard both fit again, the Packers now have at least a somewhat competitive trio of receivers on the field. Against a Titans secondary that ranks among the two worst in the entire NFL, that should be a major factor in a win on Thursday.
Matchup suits Rodgers just fine
With the Titans allowing 272.6 yards per game against the pass, Rodgers can look forward to some open targets on Thursday. As a result, this matchup suits him extremely well, something he demonstrated back in 2020. Back then, he literally dismantled the Titans defence in Green Bay’s 40-14 win.
This fact alone is enough to see the Packers clearly ahead for this Thursday night game. For Green Bay vs. Tennessee, the odds on Rodgers and Co. are also excellent to bet on with only a few points handicap.
Key Players:
QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Aaron Jones
WR: Allen Lazard
TE: Robert Tonyan
K: Mason Crosby
Tennessee Titans – stats & recent form
The Titans are at 6-3 wins and you don’t really get much of that. Even their 17-10 win over the Broncos on Sunday went a bit under the radar again due to the Munich Game and the terrific Bills vs. Vikings clash.
Besides, their game is not exactly spectacular now either. To stand at 6:3 wins and to put up only 18.4 points on average, that is quite an achievement. But it also speaks for their defence, which only allows 18.7 points per game.
Constancy has a name: Tennessee
These two statistics alone already show that the Titans’ games are not necessarily a spectacle or promise many points. In that respect, they now fit into this Thursday Night Game like a glove. We don’t expect the 42 total points to be surpassed on Thursday.
However, this consistency from the Titans just isn’t all positive. They haven’t hit the 20-point mark in four games already, and we don’t expect them to top it on Thursday either. With this amount of points, a win against the Packers becomes quite unlikely.
They have already faced two top teams away from home this season. While they held their own against Kansas City in a 17:20 defeat, they were literally rolled over by the Bills with 7:42. Against the Packers, we expect a middle of the road result.
Extremely weak against the pass
The biggest flaw when it comes to Rodgers and Co. now is their defence against the pass. 272.6 yards allowed per game is second weakest in the league. Against a Packers offence that is getting into better shape, this is certainly not the best prerequisite.
The only chance we see for Tennessee on Thursday is another monster game from Derrick Henry. However, he has also looked a little tired of late, so a pick on the home team is our crystal clear betting recommendation for Packers vs Titans.
Key Players:
QB: Ryan Tannehill
RB: Derrick Henry
WR: Robert Woods
TE: Austin Hooper
K: Randy Bullock
Green Bay Packers – Tennessee Titans Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
We already addressed the last duel of 2020. Back then, Aaron Rodgers filleted the Titans by the skin of their teeth with four touchdowns and a 128.1 rating. Ryan Tannehill only had a rating of 40.5 and threw two interceptions.
It shouldn’t be quite that clear-cut on Thursday, but since both teams still have similar personnel at their disposal, we don’t expect a completely different result. The Packers are missing Davante Adams, but the Titans have also lost their best receiver, A.J. Brown.
So the conditions are not all that different. With Packers vs. Titans, a bet on Green Bay is thus well playable, especially since they are surprisingly not considered the big favourites. So we only have to give them just under 3-4 points in handicap to already generate great value.
Green Bay Packers – Tennessee Titans Tip
Against the Cowboys, the Packers were the clear underdogs and still managed to win. Now they are 3-4 point favourites, which makes the bettors want to at least partially correct their mistake. Nevertheless, this handicap is also clearly too low in our eyes.
Thus, the odds on a Green Bay win are our clear betting option No.1 for Packers vs. Titans. Whether we implement this with a handicap of -3 or as a half-time/final result bet is up to each bettor – depending on the desired value.
Alternative on this game is certainly a bet on a touchdown by Christian Watson. He seems to have found the perfect chemistry with Rodgers by now and was able to find his way into the end zone three times against Dallas. Green Bay Packers vs. Tennessee Titans betting odds do have value.
