Will the Oilers force a Game 7?
The NHL is currently giving us a crazy series with the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals and anything is possible again. For our Edmonton vs. Florida betting tip for Game 6, nothing is impossible, from a clear win for the Panthers to another 8:1 for the Oilers.
In Game 5, the Oilers were again successful, even though they were clearly inferior in shots (24:32), hits (16:38) and face-offs (40.3 to 59.7%). Statistics actually seem to be negligible in these finals anyway.
This of course makes it all the more difficult for betting. Because in the end, all that counts is who makes fewer serious individual mistakes and who has the better luck with a deflected puck or a save at the right time.
So our prediction for Game 6 of Oilers vs. Panthers is that we’ll see a few more goals. Because the goalies are no longer the big deciders of the game and both are currently not in the form of their lives
Edmonton Oilers – Statistics & current form
The Oilers are back. Not only in their own rink for Game 6, but also in their minds for this series. Because after a 5-3 loss away at the Florida Panthers, they now have it in their own hands and sticks at home to force a Game 7.
However, it definitely won’t be any easier. For one, the Oilers need to stay at 100% mentally, as the slightest mistake could end the series, and for another, Florida hasn’t lost three straight playoff games in 24 years.
Oilers now with more match luck
While the pucks fell to the Panthers in critical situations in the first games, the Oilers now have a bit more match luck. This underestimated and unpredictable moment is likely to play a major role again in Game 6.
Of course, this also has to do with the greater will and freshness in the head, whether these imponderables can be exploited. Connor McDavid, in particular, is currently at the top of his game and by far the best Oilers player.
In the last two games, the Canadiens’ captain has three goals and five assists and now leads the entire NHL playoffs with 42 scoring points. So the odds on another McDavid goal in Edmonton vs. Florida are absolutely playable
Picking a winner in Game 6 of Oilers vs. Panthers very difficult
When it comes to betting on the winner of the game, we’re holding back again. The momentum clearly favors Edmonton, but the last statistics in Game 5 favor Florida. And the Panthers still have the better goalie in Bobrovsky – even if he hasn’t been at his best recently.
We therefore favor Oilers vs. Panthers odds on over points (over 5.5) or player bets for this Game 6. Vladimir Tarasenko’s odds have stood out here in recent days. He was also successful as a goal scorer in the first two games in Edmonton – and his odds are excellent at 4.80.
Key Players:

Florida Panthers – stats & current form
Will the Panthers get nervous again? After Game 4, everyone thought they were just going to get it done at home. After all, it’s much better to celebrate with your own fans there. But now they would certainly be grateful for the party in Edmonton.
Because having to go into a Game 7 after taking a 3-0 lead would definitely increase the pressure on Florida. After all, they don’t want to go down in NHL history as one of the five teams that blew a 3-0 lead
Away strength as a trump card
Seven out of ten – that’s the Florida Panthers’ away record so far in the postseason, which corresponds to a high average of 70%. In this respect, they shouldn’t get their field hockey shorts in a bunch in Edmonton.
Especially since they weren’t outplayed in Game 5 either. 32:24 shots on goal and 38:16 hits actually speak a language in favor of the Panthers. They also had just under 20% more face-offs. However, one negative number also stands out: the 12:8 penalty minutes.
The Oilers promptly used them to score two overtime goals, meaning Edmonton now has a powerplay success rate of 30.6% again. The Panthers themselves are only at 19.7% – one of the reasons why the series has once again become exciting
Special teams are decisive
Let’s keep it short: If the Panthers hold the Oilers to 0% on the power play in Game 6, they will win the Stanley Cup. However, if they score one or two goals while shorthanded again, it could go to a Game 7.
We have already added Player Bets on McDavid and Tarasenko as betting favorites. For Edmonton against Florida, we add a bet on over 5.5 total goals. In the last three duels, an average of 8.0 goals were scored, which makes the 5.5 seem quite achievable.
Key Players:
- G: Sergei Bobrovsky
- D: Gustav Forsling
- D: Aaron Ekblad
- LW: Vladimir Tarasenko
- C: Aleksander Barkov
- RW: Sam Reinhart
Edmonton Oilers – Florida Panthers head-to-head / H2H record
Turn 0-3 into 2-3 from the Oilers’ perspective and the entire city of Edmonton will surely be on its feet Friday night to give the Canadiens another boost. That comeback would make all Oilers players immortal.
But what are the chances of that happening? With both potential games coming up as typical 50-50 games, the Oilers are still considered the clear underdogs for the series (odds on Florida at just under 1.25).
This makes Game 6 all the more important for them. The odds on Edmonton for Oilers vs Panthers are playable, but not as a 1X2 bet, but only as a winner after regulation time or overtime. There could very well be an overtime game ahead of us
Edmonton Oilers – Florida Panthers betting tip
Tips on McDavid? Definitely playable. Picks on the Oilers? With some reservations too. However, we also expect the Panthers to score a few goals again, which makes further bets possible. On the one hand, of course, over-goals, but also an exciting player bet on a Panthers player.
For example, a bet on a goal by Vladimir Tarasenko is a great option for Oilers vs. Panthers, which also gives us a very high value. Although the Russian has scored in three of his last six games, his odds are still up to 4.80 (Betano).
Alternatively, we can also bet on the first goal. However, we think the Oilers are more likely to score in front of their own fans, as they have done so in each of their last two games.
