Surprise Schindler vs. Noppert?
Martin Schindler is one of two German darts professionals at the World Matchplay 2023. The 26-year-old didn’t get an easy draw with Danny Noppert in the first round of the matchplay and is already classified as a slight underdog by the bookmakers. Noppert vs. Schindler currently offers odds of up to 2.10 for tip 2.
Danny Noppert has never lost a match against Martin Schindler in his current career. In the H2h, the Dutchman has a record of 2-0 and therefore goes into the upcoming match against “The Wall” Schindler with a broad chest.
Both players have lost only once in the last four matches. Noppert was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Players Championship 16. Schindler was also eliminated in the same round. Nevertheless, we see the Dutchman as the favourite in the match play. Our Noppert vs. Schindler prediction therefore aims at a victory for “The Freeze”.
Danny Noppert – statistics & current form
Danny Noppert has not been very convincing so far this season. Especially in the big events the Dutchman lagged behind the expectations. It therefore remains to be seen how far the adventure will go at the World Matchplay 2023. Last year Noppert reached the semi-finals and was defeated by Gerwyn Price.
Before that “The Freeze” caused a sensation with an impressive winning streak at the Matchplay. The semi-final appearance in 2022 was Noppert’s best result in this tournament so far. In the previous three years, Noppert was eliminated twice in the first and once in the second round of the Matchplay.
Has Noppert digested the white wash yet?
Noppert was knocked out of the Players Championship 16 just a few days ago against Jonny Clayton. In the last 16 of the PC 16 “The Freeze” even lost the match against the Welshman with 0:6 and only had a scoring average of 85,41. Surprisingly, because in the seven matches before Noppert had an average of more than 90 points per match.
If he can keep this up against Schindler, “The Freeze” has a realistic chance of reaching the second round of the 2023 Matchplay. The Dutchman has never lost a match against the German darts pro. If the next win now beckons, odds of 1.73 are paid out for a bet on the world number eight from Holland in the Noppert vs.
Martin Schindler – Statistics & current form
Martin Schindler is making only his second ever appearance at the World Matchplay in his current professional career. For the native of Strausberg, last year was already the end of the line in the first round. Against Gerwyn Price, the later finalist, Schindler lost despite an impressive performance and lost in the best-of-19 with 8:10.
This year, Schindler now has the next difficult hurdle ahead of him. The tournament starts with a match against Danny Noppert, the world number eight of the PDC. The 26-year-old has never won against the Dutchman in his career and is therefore the slight underdog at the best bookmakers this time as well.
Will Schindler take the recent momentum with him?
In recent weeks, Schindler has not left a bad impression and has not only impressed in the singles, but also in the recent World Doubles Championships in front of his home crowd. If the 26-year-old takes the momentum with him into the World Matchplay 2023, Schindler at least already has realistic chances to win the match against Danny Noppert.
At the Players Championship 16 in Leicester Schindler had a scoring average above the 92.00 mark in three out of four matches. Even in the defeat against Joyce Schindler recorded an impressive average of 95.89. Because Joyce had a better doubles rate Schindler still couldn’t make it into the quarterfinals.

Danny Noppert – Martin Schindler Tip
Previous year’s semi-finalist Danny Noppert starts the World Matchplay 2023 with a first round match against Martin Schindler. The match against the German darts pro will not be a walk in the park as Schindler showed strong performances lately.
Not only in the doubles with Clemens but also in the singles the 26-year-old with the nickname “The Wall” convinced. Nevertheless, we see Noppert – just like the bookmakers – as a slight favourite due to his experience.
Our Noppert vs. Schindler tip targets a win for the Dutchman at odds of 1.73.
