Did the Warriors land a ‘sweep’?
The Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors have Game 4 in the Western Conference Finals in front of them. Should the visitors from the West Coast win, the series would already be over, as the previous three meetings all ended in defeats for the Texans.
Dallas Mavericks – statistics & current form
The basketball players from the Lone Star State cannot keep up with the Warriors as a team. Luka Doncic alone is successfully giving the Kerr squad a run for their money. The Slovenian scored 40 points in the last game and already in the second match-up the “Don” delivered 42 points.
However, his performance is not enough for victories against Golden State. Moreover, the last defeat was a low blow for the psyche of Head Coach Jason Kidd’s team.
Hopes were high before the tip-off that the turnaround would be achieved in the first home game of the series, as it was in the previous round against the Suns, but now the disappointment after the defeat is all the greater on the part of the 2011 champions.
Although Jalen Brunson or Spencer Dinwiddie have also performed solidly recently, the list of weak players for the Mavs is much longer.
One example was the recent performance of Reggie Bullock, who missed no less than ten attempts from the field and did not sink a single one.
Golden State Warriors – Statistics & current form
The Californians are on the verge of a sweep against Dallas. Already in 2019, when Golden State was last represented in the Finals in the West, the then opponent from Portland was clearly defeated with 4:0.
Furthermore, Stephen Curry continues to be a reliable scorer and Andrew Wiggins is getting better and better in parallel. The Canadian recorded a new career-best of 27 points in the last game in terms of the postseason.
The Warriors also recorded the last victory once again due to the home side’s weakness in rebounding. The Brooklyn Nets alone averaged fewer boards than D-Town in their but also only four games in the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs.
Dallas Mavericks – Golden State Warriors Tip
For the duel between the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors in Game 4, betting on less than 17.5 rebounds and assists by Luka Doncic seems promising.
The Slovenian is the top scorer in the 2022 postseason with around 32 points per game, but his glass-clearing and assists numbers drop noticeably in the series with the Warriors compared to the previous round against Phoenix.
Given his role as the sole provider of finishing for Dallas, as evidenced by at least 40 points in the past two games, this is hardly surprising.
The very good defence of the opponent only allows comparatively few successful finishes by his teammates and the work under the boards is also done much better by the Kerr squad.
In the last game alone, Golden State had a plus of 14 rebounds and in the previous game the difference was 13 in favour of the guests. This is another reason why Doncic has not yet managed more than 14 rebounds and assists in the three games played in the series.
