Will the Cowboys make it exciting again?
The NFL calls for a top duel in the NFC East on Tuesday night. Then the Dallas Cowboys welcome the Philadelphia Eagles for a groundbreaking game in the battle for the division, which is probably the most unpredictable this year.
That’s because all four teams actually have a chance to win it, after all teams were within three wins of each other last year as well and none had a positive record. The Cowboys are considered the slight favourites to win the division title, but with this defence it’s a ride on a razor’s edge.
The Eagles’ defence is of a different calibre, conceding just 23 total points in their two games, less than half the Cowboys’ total. That is a very important criterion for us when we look at the matchup on Monday.
Indeed, this newfound defensive strength has us carrying favourite status from Dallas over to Philly Since the oddsmakers see it differently, the odds on the away team are clearly to be taken advantage of in Cowboys vs. Eagles. Value Guaranteed
Start of the Monday Night Game from the NFC East is on Tuesday night at 02:20. The game can be watched live on DAZN. The NFL Game Week 3 has a few more high-calibre games on the schedule, including the Patriots’ clash with the Saints.
United States Dallas Cowboys – Statistics & current form
The Cowboys can apparently only do heartbreakers. After conceding the decisive last-second field goal against Tampa, they turned the tables on Tampa on Sunday, scoring the game-winning field goal with the clock running out.
Greg Zuerlein, who was sharply criticised on Game Day 1, became a hero. Many of the Cowboys will have registered this with relief, because a kicker discussion is the last thing they need in Dallas right now.
Defence with many personnel worries
While the Cowboys’ defence was as full of holes as a Swiss cheese in the preseason, they had expected a lot from the signing of Dan Quinn as defence coordinator. He also brought Keanu Neal with him from Atlanta.
But both Neal and some other pillars of the defence are now out Most notably DeMarcus Lawrence, arguably their best edge rusher on the team. But the absences of cornerbacks Robinson and Joseph are also tearing a hole in the defense, or more specifically in their secondary.
Especially against the Eagles this is unfortunate, as their stumbling passing game could be pushed a lot. Not a particularly fortunate circumstance for the Cowboys, who are once again threatened with a game with over 25 counter points.
Neither Prescott at 100% yet
After his strong start against the Buccaneers last Sunday, it also became clear that quarterback Dak Prescott still needs some time to get back to his old self after his serious injury. Against the Chargers, he failed to score a passing touchdown and threw an interception.
Since the Eagles’ defence will now be even tougher to play against, our prediction for Dallas vs. Philadelphia is a very competitive game that could even end with an away win.
Key Players:
– QB: Dak Prescott
– RB: Ezekiel Elliott
– WR: Amari Cooper
– WR: CeDee Lamb
– K: Greg Zuerlein
United States Philadelphia Eagles – Statistics & Current form
The Eagles have started the season better than many experts expected. Especially their defence is almost reminiscent of 2017, when they even made it to the Super Bowl in the end.
Like Dallas, however, Philly has to cope with some painful injuries. Defensive end Brandon Graham, in particular, stands out here and is likely to be difficult to replace as a leader.
Eagles defence much improved
Yet it is this very defence that will give them a win or two this season That has already been evident in the two games so far, in which they have allowed an average of just 11.5 points per game.
That is second only to the Panthers in the NFL. While they should now concede over 20 points against Dallas and their potent offence, ultimately it could still be enough for a win.
Jalen Hurts with solid start
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, like Prescott, may have faded a bit on Game Day 2, but he’s still ahead of his opponent overall in passer rating (108 to 99.1). This advantage in favour of the youngster is somewhat surprising.
If he is again a notch ahead of Prescott on Monday, the chances are very high that Philly will manage an upset in Dallas. Thus, with Cowboys vs Eagles, betting on the away team is an option we should have on our radar as a matter of urgency.
Key Players:
– QB: Jalen Hurts
– RB: Miles Sanders
– WR: DeVonta Smith
– TE: Dallas Goedert
– K: Jake Elliott
Dallas Cowboys – Philadelphia Eagles Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
The head-to-head comparison of these two teams in recent years reads a little wild. It’s been back and forth, and many duels have ended up being pretty clear-cut affairs. The smallest margin of victory within the last ten duels was six points, i.e. one touchdown.
We can hardly imagine that it will go so clearly in one direction again and if so, then only because a defence (in this case rather of the Cowboys) has a black day. Nevertheless, we rather expect a game on a knife edge
This makes betting more difficult, but since the odds are so much higher on Philly in Dallas vs. Philadelphia, we’re almost driven towards the Eagles accordingly. In such an evenly-matched duel, odds of up to 2.60 are rather exceptional.
United States Dallas Cowboys – Philadelphia Eagles United States Tip
The Cowboys’ games have always been decided in the final seconds, so we expect another thriller. However, since anything can happen then, betting on them is less profitable.
With Dallas vs. Philadelphia, the high odds are more in favour of the away team Alternatively, bets on Eagles +3.5 are also an option, as they can then even afford a narrow defeat
