Will the 49ers offense be at its best in Florida?

As the NFL enters the second half of the season, several teams are already facing important decisions. The trade deadline is over and with the roster now in place, each franchise must try to achieve the goals they have set. This also applies to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers, whose prognosis for the rest of the season differs. This is mainly due to injuries.

The team from Florida proved at the end of the ninth match day that they are competitive despite the injury of their two most important pass receivers. They were the first team to stand up to the reigning Super Bowl champion even into overtime. In the end, however, it was a very bitter 24-30 defeat in Arrowhead Stadium against the Chiefs. It was the third defeat in a row for the Bucs. If they now turn the tide in the match, odds of up to 3.00 are on offer in the Buccaneers vs. 49ers tip.

This is probably mainly due to the fact that some important players are returning from injuries for the Californians, or at least could return. With a 4-4 record, the team from the Bay Area has by no means been convincing as a whole so far. However, the Niners under head coach Kyle Shanahan have always improved after the bye week in recent years and are coming out of it right now! We will go into the exact balance in more detail in a moment. Buccaneers – statistics & current form

Before we look at the last game and the offense of the Floridians in general, let’s take a look at the injury report. In the best case, Mike Evans will return on the twelfth matchday against the New York Giants, Chris Godwin will only be back at the start of the postseason at the earliest. Whether the Bucs will still be in the race then is, of course, a completely different matter. To briefly underline the importance of the two wide receivers, we refer to the statistics, because the two of them have a total of eleven touchdown catches and 911 receiving yards between them.

Nevertheless, the offense with quarterback Baker Mayfield scored 24 points against a strong Chiefs defense. However, the unit’s output was not consistent. Of the nine offensive series, four ended in points and three in touchdowns, but there were also five drives that were stopped after 23, six, 14, eight, and minus six yards. But that shouldn’t cause this unit to be underestimated in the future, because in the most important moments, the combination of a very good passing game and solid running game still delivered.

New names in focus

Almost as expected, tight end Cade Otten took center stage among the pass catchers, but he received support from Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer. The Buccaneers’ match against the 49ers also comes with the good news that third-round pick and wide receiver Jalen McMillan will return. This would give Mayfield another important option in the passing game. In the upcoming home game, however, the matchup on the ground should also improve again, which could play into the hands of running back Bucky Irving. He has since risen to number one in the backfield. So far, the team is averaging 3.4 touchdowns per game and we believe the home side will score at least three touchdowns in this matchup as well.

In the last five games, of which only one was won, the defensive unit conceded an incredible 36, 27, 41, 31 and 30 points. The 27 points allowed on average is the fifth highest in the league. It is definitely to be feared that the defense will hardly find a remedy against the Niners’ offense. It is therefore not surprising that the 51.5 points represent the highest over/under on Sunday evening.

Key Players:

  • QB: Baker Mayfield
  • RB: Bucky Irving
  • WR: Sterling Shepard
  • TE: Cade Otton
  • K: Chase McLaughlin

49ers – Statistics & current form

We could also start with the Niners by looking at the injury report, but there the ranks are thinning out a bit, at least as far as the offensive players are concerned. Not only can San Francisco plan again with wide receiver Juan Jennings, but they also opened the 21-day window for running back Christian McCaffrey. However, we don’t dare to predict whether he will be able to make his season debut on Sunday. But since he has been well represented by Jordan Mason and Isaac Guerendo in the running game so far, the coaching staff will probably not take any risks on that front.

As announced, we would like to at least briefly mention how much better the Niners have been under Shanahan in recent seasons after the break. The record in pre-bye week games is 25-37 overall, but after the bye week they have won 43 of 61 games! In the tight NFC West, the Californians slipped to third place last week, but with just one win behind the Cardinals, the division title and playoffs are definitely still within reach. Especially if the offense now gets important playmakers back bit by bit.

Predictions good thanks to the returnees!

Quarterback Brock Purdy still has plenty of strong pass catchers despite Brandon Aiyuk’s season-ending injury. With George Kittle, a tight end is currently even leading the receiving statistics. Deebo Samuel and Jennings follow. We would venture a guess that rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall’s role will increase in the coming weeks before the Buccaneers play against the 49ers. If he even manages his first touchdown in the NFL on Sunday, attractive value beckons on the bet365 app. In addition to the aforementioned personnel, the Niners, as is usual for Shanahan teams, can also dominate and win matches on the ground.

The defense is hot and cold and we still don’t really trust the unit. But this group of players will probably get important players like Dre Greenlaw back in the coming weeks and last Tuesday – via trade – this unit was given a little more depth. Before the bye week, however, they repeatedly looked vulnerable in the run and passing game, so we don’t think it’s out of the question for the hosts to exploit that. In six of their eight games so far, the Niners have conceded at least 23 points!

Key Players:

  • QB: Brock Purdy
  • RB: Jordan Mason
  • WR: Deebo Samuel
  • TE: George Kittle
  • K: Jake Moody

Buccaneers – 49ers head-to-head / H2H record

The Florida franchise has only won seven of 27 direct duels against San Francisco. As the Buccaneers-vs-49ers odds suggest, the bookmakers do not expect the upcoming matchup to be an eighth success either. While Mayfield, as the playmaker, was unable to win against the Niners in three attempts with the Browns, Panthers or Buccaneers, his counterpart Purdy has already led his team to two successes against the Bucs.

Buccaneers – 49ers betting tip

We definitely trust the guests in this matchup to go towards the 30-point mark, even if McCaffrey has not yet returned. In each of their four victories, they have scored at least 30 points so far, which is why we are betting on it with our main tip. At Betano online, there are very attractive odds for as little as 28 points for the guests in the Buccaneers vs. 49ers duel.

In our search for a touchdown scorer in this game, we also found what we were looking for on the visitors’ side. Tight end Kittle, despite already having six touchdown catches, is available at a maximum of 2.40 in the markets. You don’t want to miss out on this value!
