The two best rushing offenses in a direct matchup!
On paper, the game in Baltimore on NFL match day six is likely to be a so-called top game. This is particularly surprising given that the guests were not expected to start the season this way. We are, of course, talking about the Ravens vs. Commanders matchup, in which the odds in the comparison of the various bookmakers are unexpectedly clear!
After two matchdays, the Baltimore franchise was in danger of a horror start. John Harbaugh’s team was 0-2 and then faced opponents from Dallas, Buffalo and Cincinnati. The Ravens won against all three opponents and are therefore unquestionably among the favorites for the Super Bowl victory. We predict that Baltimore will want to prove this again in the Ravens’ game against the Commanders by stopping the hottest team in the league at the moment.
Meanwhile, the team from the capital has recorded four consecutive wins, meaning that they have not lost a game since the opening defeat. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is at the center of the offense, which has been showered with praise and has averaged 38 points in the past three games.
Will he and his team continue their success story at M&T Bank Stadium? There are huge odds for this tip at Bet-at-home, for example, in the Ravens vs. Commanders duel. You can also take advantage of the Bet-at-Home welcome bonus.
Baltimore Ravens – Statistics & current form
Baltimore won against division rivals Cincinnati in overtime last week. This victory had a huge impact on the AFC North standings, where the Ravens and Steelers are tied for the lead with 3-2 wins. Just two wins behind are the Browns and the Bengals, whose playoff chances are of course much slimmer. The most positive thing for the Maryland franchise last week, however, was that they can win games with the help of the passing game when things aren’t going well on the ground.
Running the ball!
Because the identity of the offensive unit is clearly the run game. 211.2 yards of space gained on the ground per game clearly show that. However, the run game only got going late last week, and so quarterback Lamar Jackson had to direct the game through the air. He and his receivers delivered against an admittedly weak defense. In the run game, it is still Derrick Henry and Jackson himself who pose a threat.
Four touchdown passes to three different receivers proved how complete the offense has become. There are even rumors that the wide receiver group will be further strengthened by the addition of Davante Adams, who is willing to switch teams. However, it should also be emphasized how important the tight ends are in this unit. Mark Andrews, Isiah Likely and Charlie Kolar recently caught ten passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns! If one of the three tight ends is to be particularly highlighted, we would place a bet on Likely between the Ravens and Commanders that he can celebrate another successful end zone visit.
The passing defense in particular has been a weak point this season. While the unit allows the fewest rushing yards of any team, only the Jaguars have allowed opponents more yardage through the air. The fact that the guests should also be taken seriously in the passing game was impressively demonstrated recently.
Key Players:
- QB: Lamar Jackson
- RB: Derrick Henry
- WR: Zay Flowsers
- TE: Isiah Likely
- K: Justin Tucker
Washington Commanders – Statistics & current form
In addition to the second-best rushing offense, the Commanders also have a solid passing game. They may be short on playmakers, but quarterback Daniels has managed to throw for over 200 yards in each of the last four games. The team from the capital city managed to win every game in which he managed this feat. It is by no means impossible that this will work again due to the aforementioned weakness in the Baltimore defense. Nevertheless, we do not dare to predict that it will be enough to win again between the Ravens and Commanders.
Forecast surprisingly good for this offense!
But let’s start with the game on the ground: So far, Washington has faced the Buccaneers, Giants, Bengals, Cardinals and Browns, averaging 178.4 rushing yards. These defenses have something in common: none of these teams have a top-10 run defense! But now the best run defense is waiting, which makes the task for the offense around running backs Brian Robinson, Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols much more difficult.
Which inevitably brings us to the passing game. Terry McLaurin is the standout as the number one receiver. He has already had two games with 100 receiving yards, and it seems entirely realistic that he could do the same at M&T Bank Stadium. Support in the passing game will come from Luke McCaffrey, Zach Ertz or Dyami Brown. The latter shone last week with his first touchdown of the season.
As good as the offense is, it was clear from the start of the season that the defense could be a problem. Washington is just as beatable in the run defense as it is in the passing game. Especially the matchup on the ground, against the best rushing offense, justifies why the betting odds tilt in favor of the home team between the Ravens and Commanders.
Key Players:
- QB: Jayden Daniels
- RB: Brian Robinson
- WR: Terry McLaurin
- TE: Zach Ertz
- K: Austin Seibert
Baltimore Ravens – Washington Commanders Head-to-head record / H2H record
First and foremost, the storyline for this game, which has already been mentioned several times, is that the two best rushing offenses are dueling here. This is only the eighth time the two franchises have met, and the first time since the organization from the capital has been known as the Commanders. In the last duel in 2020, Jackson was already quarterback in Baltimore and led his team to a never-threatened 31-17 victory.
Ravens – Commanders Tip
The odds for a Baltimore victory between the Ravens and Commanders are a maximum of 1.36. In the markets, the guests are therefore given a handicap of 6.5 points. With the help of these extra points, we believe that Washington is capable of winning the game.
For our main recommendation, however, we are ignoring the final result and are fully backing the guests. It can be assumed that they will find the gaps in the Ravens’ pass defense and be able to attack them. That’s why the option of at least 21 points for Washington at Betway seems most lucrative to us. Especially since the associated Ravens vs. Commanders forecast is value for money in terms of odds.
