The Blucerchiati recorded their last away win on October 20, 2024, in Cesena (final score 5-3). Since then, they’ve played 24 away games, split evenly between draws and losses

Since then, more than 400 days (447, to be exact) have passed, with no fewer than four different coaches on the Blucerchiati bench. That’s how long it’s been since Sampdoria’s last victory away from the Ferraris: the 5-3 win on Cesena’s home field on October 20, 2024. A lifetime ago. Since then, a streak of 24 consecutive away games without a win, the latest of which took place this afternoon in Avellino. Palumbo and former Sampdoria player Tutino took down a Sampdoria side that, since that October 20 two years ago, has racked up only nine league wins, all of them at Marassi.

Their only away win—though statistically meaningless—came against Salernitana in the second leg of the playoffs on June 22. It was a 2-0 victory on the field, before the chaos that erupted at the Arechi Stadium and the resulting 3-0 forfeit that condemned the Granata to relegation while saving the Blucerchiati from the nightmare of Serie C. As for Sampdoria’s regular-season record away from Marassi—since that 5-0 win over Cesena—it stands at 12 draws and 12 losses.

Away-game curse—  Meanwhile, the situation on the Sampdoria bench has been rather turbulent: Sottil, Semplici, the Evani-Lombardo duo—who secured a hard-fought survival—and Massimo Donati, announced in the summer and lasting less than two months, have all come and gone. But even with Gregucci and Foti (and the first signings from the January transfer window), things haven’t changed: just three wins, all at the Ferraris, against Juve Stabia, Carrarese, and Reggiana. Next Friday, Entella will visit Marassi; along with Sampdoria, Pescara, Bari, and Südtirol, Entella is one of five teams that have only managed to win at home this season. It’s a habit that Coda and his teammates, even in 2026, just can’t seem to shake.
