With the Games about to begin, the 41-year-old reveals the nature of her injury after her nasty fall in Crans Montana. The goal is to try to get on the track anyway: “I knew my chances, I know the opportunities are no longer the same, but I still feel solid, even with the help of a brace.”

Bad news for Lindsey Vonn, gold medalist at Vancouver 2010. The American spoke about her condition at a press conference in Cortina, clarifying the situation after her nasty fall in the downhill race in Crans Montana and the resulting knee pain. Unfortunately, the situation is not looking good, as Vonn announced that she has injured her left cruciate ligament. The scenario for her has changed at this point, but not permanently. Expectations are lower, but her desire to try and get back on the slopes remains intact. Vonn’s situation in Milan-Cortina could make her Olympics even more epic. Here are her words.

The US champion said at today’s press conference: “I completely tore my left cruciate ligament.” However, she remains confident: “I put on my skis today and felt stable and confident. I will try to compete in the downhill on Sunday.” And then, “being here at 41 makes me happy.” On the situation with her knee: “Surgery? Of course, it has been evaluated with the doctors, but it cannot be considered now because right now, there are only the Olympic Games. We will stay in touch to make sure we make the best choice.”
