The Frenchman arrived in Serie B this year and is surprising everyone. He will remain in Emilia on loan
It’s unclear what the future holds for Inter, but there will be at least one midfielder with the characteristics sought by Cristian Chivu: a powerful and versatile attacker. Never mind that the player in question has not yet played a single minute in Serie A: Yanis Massolin was bought yesterday by Inter after just 13 appearances with Modena in Serie B. To beat the competition and sign him immediately, the Nerazzurri invested around $3.5 million up front, but with a bonus system, the total could reach $6 million.
This 23-year-old with thick, mischievous hair arrived in Italy at the start of the season amid general uncertainty, but he soon impressed everyone. “A Martian for Serie B…”, as Modena president Carlo Rivetti described him: he will remain in Emilia on loan until the end of the season, then Massolin will test himself in a high-quality midfield, but one in which no one else possesses his characteristics. The Frenchman of Algerian origin (Yanis has yet to decide which national team he will play for) is 197 cm tall, but can play both as a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder.
