The Napoli coach pays for his sending off at San Siro in the match against Inter. Eight players have been suspended, but five will not be able to take the field in the matchday 16 catch-up games. Heavy punishment for Gaspar: three matches suspended
Matchday 20 of Serie A ended with Juventus’ victory over Cremonese. The championship will resume on Friday 16, with matchday 21 kicking off with Pisa vs. Atalanta, scheduled for 8:45 p.m. Ahead of the next round, the Sports Judge has officially announced the suspension of eight players, but only three will miss the 21st matchday. Three coaches have been suspended, with Conte receiving a two-match ban for his sending off during Inter-Napoli. The Italian champions’ coach will miss the catch-up game against Parma and the match against Sassuolo. Gaspar (three matches) and Cambiaghi (two) have also been hit with heavy suspensions. Zaccagni, Tomori, Casadei, Cristante, and Ramon are back available after serving one-match suspensions. Below is a complete overview of the decisions made by the Disciplinary Committee, including fines imposed on clubs.
Three players have been suspended for the 21st matchday of Serie A, all for one game: Zaniolo (Udinese) – already out due to injury – Caracciolo (Pisa) and Pezzella (Cremonese). However, there are also five other players sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee who will serve their suspensions in the 16th matchday catch-up games, scheduled for January 14 and 15, and not in next weekend’s games, thus not affecting fantasy football managers’ choices. These are Banda and Gaspar (Lecce) and Cambiaghi (Bologna), who were sent off during the 20th matchday, as well as Ramadani (Lecce) and Juan Jesus (Napoli), who received yellow cards while already on a warning. Gaspar will miss three games, while Cambiaghi will serve a two-match ban. All others will serve a one-match ban.
Disqualified coaches— Three coaches will also be unable to sit on the bench on matchday 21 of Serie A. They are Paolo Vanoli (Fiorentina), Antonio Conte (Napoli), and Davide Nicola (Cremonese), who were sent off in matches against Milan, Inter, and Juventus, respectively. Conte has been suspended for two games (and fined €15,000).
Clubs fined— Six clubs have been fined. Milan has been fined €10,000 for objective responsibility, for unjustifiably delaying the start of the game by about three minutes; repeated and continued offense. Lecce was fined €6,000 for its supporters throwing two firecrackers and two smoke bombs onto the pitch during the match. Inter was fined €5,000 for its supporters repeatedly chanting insults at the opposing team’s coach in the 26th minute of the second half. Roma fined €5,000 for its supporters repeatedly chanting vulgar songs at a player from the opposing team in the 25th minute of the second half. An additional fine of €2,000 was imposed for its supporters throwing a firecracker onto the pitch in the 35th minute of the second half. Fiorentina fined €3,000 for its supporters throwing two smoke bombs onto the pitch during the match. Atalanta fined €1,500 for its supporters throwing a piece of fruit onto the pitch in the 10th minute of the second half.
