The hosts struggle to make an impact, while the Gialloblù try to take advantage. However, it is Suzuki who saves Cuesta in the final minutes
The typo on the official line-up sheet did not become reality: someone had mistakenly predicted the result of Cremonese-Parma (1-0), but the match at the Zini ended goalless. For the hosts, it is their second 0-0 draw in a row after the one against Verona, but they can console themselves with the fact that they remain unbeaten after four games (a first in Serie A) and with their second consecutive match without conceding a goal. Parma were more enterprising (without exaggerating) but not as incisive in front of goal and had to settle for their second point of the season.
With Vardy injured in the stands with his family, Nicola opted for an attacking duo of Vasquez (the only change from the last game) and Sanabria, while Cuesta relied on Pellegrino and Cutrone. It was hot and uneventful, with Cremonese losing Collocolo to injury after 16 minutes (replaced by Grassi) and having taken a big risk shortly before (in the 9th minute) when Pellegrino hit the post after a good pass from Valeri. The hosts were struggling but remained afloat, controlling the 0-0 score and doing little to try to spark the match. Rather than winning it, they seemed to want to put it to sleep, as evidenced by the zero in the shots on goal and off target box and also the corners after 45 minutes. Incursions into the opponent’s area were few and far between and came mainly in the final phase of the first half, with Vasquez trying to come up with something but receiving little assistance from his teammates. The game was lacking in excitement, and the midfield was Parma’s territory. They had an idea of what they wanted to do but were not always able to put it into practice: Keita directed play in the middle and spread the field, while Almqvist and Valeri pushed forward and tried to get crosses in.
This leads to the only excitement of the first 45 minutes, with Pellegrino beating Bianchetti to the ball with his head and sending it almost into the top corner. The number 9 tries again shortly after with his foot, but Audero is alert.
In the second half, Nicola sends Ceccherini on for Bianchetti (who is also injured after a collision with Pellegrino), but above all, his team raises the center of gravity and tries to make the big move. The most inspired remains Vazquez, who puts in more than one interesting ball and, in the final minutes, comes close to taking the lead with a cross shot that forces Suzuki to save for a corner. Parma, however, remained alive, always arriving first on second balls and trying again with Bernabé, but Audero was always alert. On points, the visitors would have won, but the draw is worth more to Cremonese, who remain in the upper echelons of the table even if they miss the opportunity to temporarily catch Juventus at the top.
