Can TSG still make it into the knockout stage?

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the biggest conference in the history of the UEFA Europa League will take place. As in the premier class, all 36 teams will face each other in 18 games at the same time, giving us the second football festival in a very short time. In our RSC Anderlecht vs. Hoffenheim betting tip, we will now take a closer look at one of the German representatives. However, TSG has its back to the wall and needs a miracle to survive the league system after all.

The guests only managed to get six points out of the first seven games and are therefore only in 28th place. In addition, Christian Ilzer’s team is already three points behind the playoff places and therefore urgently needs a win. However, even that might not be enough, because at the same time, some of the many competitors would have to make a mistake. In addition, the hosts are still in contention for one of the top eight places and thus direct participation in the round of 16. For this reason, the Anderlecht vs. Hoffenheim prediction of a victory for the German team also seems quite risky.

However, there is also reason for hope for the away team, because TSG has improved significantly in the last two games against Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt. On the other hand, RSC has won three of the last four games and is therefore in much better form. It is therefore no surprise that the Anderlecht vs. Hoffenheim odds favor a home win.

Anderlecht – Statistics & current form

For Anderlecht, the international journey began before the start of the highest Belgian league. As the third-placed team in the Jupiler Pro League, David Hubert’s team first had to survive the qualification. However, RSC confidently beat Dinamo Minsk and thus rightly qualified for the Europa League. With 14 points from the first seven games, the Belgians then continued their good run and only lost in Pilsen last matchday. Based on their performances so far, the purple and whites therefore also have a good chance of qualifying directly for the round of 16. However, a win would be very important for that.

Anderlecht with a lot of efficiency

David Hubert’s team has found a good balance between offensive power and defensive stability at home and abroad. It is therefore no wonder that RSC has only gone without scoring once in nine Europa League games (including qualifying). This means that the Belgians have found the way into the opposing goal in almost 89% of the games and are therefore difficult to defend against for 90 minutes. However, it is not as if the Belgian representative regularly shoots his opponents out of the stadiums, because 13 goals in nine EL games (Ø 1.44) are still far from being the best. But that doesn’t change the fact that a goal is likely.

Anderlecht are very solid

We have already briefly touched on the defensive stability in the previous paragraph. Anderlecht only conceded eight goals in nine Europa League games (Ø 0.89) and thus less than one goal per game. Nevertheless, David Hubert’s team kept a clean sheet only three times and thus conceded at least one goal in 67% of the games. If we then exclude the two games against Dinamo Minsk from the qualifying round, the rate is even 86%. Especially against the well-staffed Hoffenheim offense, a goal against RSC would not be unlikely. We would therefore not bet on a clean sheet for the home team.

Hoffenheim – Statistics & current form

Hoffenheim was able to qualify directly for the Europa League in the last season and therefore did not have to go through the qualification round. However, this does not mean that Christian Ilzer’s team had an easier start in the competition, because with only six points from seven games, TSG is only in 28th place. In addition, the Sinsheim-based team has only won a single game in the Europa League, and that was against Dynamo Kiev. With the performance they have shown so far, the already almost impossible task is even more difficult to accomplish. We therefore firmly expect the Bundesliga club to be knocked out.

Hoffenheim with away problems

With seven goals in seven EL games (Ø 1.00), the guests are not particularly strong in offense. At least that’s what the yield suggests, but with players like Andrej Kramaric, Gift Orban or Adam Hlozek, the guest team certainly has quality. However, Christian Ilzer’s team have rarely been able to bring their own strengths to bear away from home, scoring just one goal in three away games. Most recently, however, Sinsheim have been at their best again, finding the back of the net seven times in their last three competitive games. The two goals scored in the 2-2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt should give the team encouragement.

We just mentioned that TSG have been at their best recently, but that only applies to offense. The defense is not working at all this season and has only kept a clean sheet four times across all competitions. Thus, Christian Ilzer’s team conceded at least one goal in 86% of competitive matches. But it gets much worse, because with 54 goals conceded in 29 games, the Sinsheim defense allows an average of 1.86 and thus almost two goals per game. Even the signings of Artur Chaves, Valentin Gendrey and Robin Hranac could not change that. The problems are therefore omnipresent.

Anderlecht – Hoffenheim Direct comparison / H2H record

In the pure team analysis, the home side seem to have the slightly better chances of winning, but what about the direct comparison? The H2H comparison is very quickly summarized, because the two teams only met each other once. However, the result is not really significant, because the 3-2 victory for RSC was only in a friendly game. We are therefore absolutely sure that this result will not have played a role in the distribution of the Anderlecht vs. Hoffenheim betting odds.

Anderlecht – Hoffenheim Tip

In summary of all the facts mentioned, we have decided on the Anderlecht vs. Hoffenheim betting tip for “both teams scoring – yes”. The reasons for this are obvious, because both teams thrive on their offensive qualities. In addition, the supposed underdog has visibly improved recently and should therefore be able to pose a threat to RSC. However, the Sinsheimers’ defensive problems are still an issue and will certainly come to light against the Belgian representatives. Therefore, we expect goals on both sides of the field.

But the Anderlecht vs Hoffenheim odds for over 2.5 goals in the game are just as interesting. Since both teams absolutely have to win, we can very well imagine that more risk will be taken from minute to minute. It is therefore not unlikely that we will see at least three goals in this game.
