Will Celta remain unbeaten?

The Himmelblauen from Vigo are on course to stay in the league. Mathematically, staying in La Liga is only a matter of time. Celta Vigo are one of the teams with the best form in the second half of the season and have already picked up 16 points in nine second-round games. The “Celestes” will therefore approach Monday’s match against RCD Mallorca with a broad chest.

In contrast to the traditional club from Galicia, the Mallorcans have not won a single match in their last six league games and have slipped to twelfth place in the table. It is quite possible that the form crisis will worsen against the Himmelblauen from Vigo. Our Celta Vigo vs. Mallorca tip is at least aiming for that.

The “Celestes” have only lost one of six home games at home this calendar year. In the last three league games at the Estadio de Balaídos, Celta have even picked up seven points with an impressive goal rate of 2.67 per home game.

If Carlos Carvalhal’s charges take the momentum into Monday’s game in the Spanish top flight, it stands to reason that an attacking spectacle will follow against the Mallorcans. A Celta Vigo vs. Mallorca prediction of at least two goals from the Himmelblauen is by no means out of the question.

Celta Vigo – Statistics & current form

Celta Vigo can breathe a sigh of relief. After a weak first half of the season, the traditional club from Galicia found its way back to success in the course of the second half of the season and is even one of the best second-round teams in the league under the leadership of head coach Carlos Carvalhal. Since the Portuguese took office, Celta have posted a record of 6-7-3 in 16 league games.

Since their last league defeat against Atlético Madrid in February 2023, the Himmelblauen have gone unbeaten seven times in a row. Celta Vigo have even won three of those seven encounters. They have also scored ten goals in their last four league games – an average of more than two goals per league match.

This is commendable, as Celta Vigo were not only one of the weakest teams in the first half of the season. The Himmelblauen also had one of the weakest attacking lines in the league with only 18 goals to their name.

Will the Celestes improve their home record?

Against RCD Mallorca, it cannot be ruled out that they will build on their recent goal tally. The last time the Mallorcans visited the stadium of the “Celestes”, Celta celebrated a 4:3 victory in an eventful match. Celta Vigo thus remained unbeaten in a home match against RCD Mallorca for the third time in a row.

Considering the strength of the Galician side in their home games under Carvalhal, a point for Celta Vigo this time is an obvious choice. Since the early winter break due to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Himmelblauen have lost only one of their last seven home games.

It would therefore be all the more surprising if that record were to deteriorate against the visitors from Mallorca, who are in poor form. Head coach Carvalhal will again have to do without several players due to injury. However, there are no new personnel worries to complain about.

Mallorca – Statistics & current form

RCD Mallorca continue to find themselves in a crisis of form after their latest point haul in La Liga and have now gone six league games in a row without a win. The points cushion on the relegation places is seven points ten matchdays before the end of the season. In mathematical terms, the club’s place in the Spanish top flight is not yet assured.

Although there is no fear of relegation, the next league games are of great importance for the team of head coach Javier Aguirre. A defeat in Vigo would be fatal in view of this, especially since in a worst-case scenario the lead over the red zone could shrink to up to four points.

However, because the Mallorcans have hardly been convincing on foreign soil so far, placing a bet on the visitors in the league match between Celta Vigo vs Mallorca is associated with a lot of risk. Mallorca have only won three of their 14 away games this season. In return, they have already suffered eight defeats on foreign soil.

Is Mallorca’s away woes continuing?

RCD Mallorca have not won an away game in La Liga since November 2022. The Mallorcans have even lost six of their last seven league matches away from home and therefore logically go into the upcoming match in Vigo as underdogs. In the 14 away games of the current league season, the Pirates have conceded 20 goals – an average of more than one goal per game.

Vedat Muriqi, on the other hand, is one of the few bright spots on the offensive. The 28-year-old, who moved to Mallorca last summer from Lazio Roma, already has twelve goals to his name and is the top scorer for the Mallorcans. Muriqi scored two of those twelve goals last week against Valladolid to help his side earn a point.

Head coach Javier Aguirre will again field the Kosovar as the lone striker in a 5-4-1 against Celta Vigo. No major changes are expected in the starting eleven anyway.

Celta Vigo – Mallorca Direct comparison / H2H Balance

In 45 meetings between the two clubs so far, Celta Vigo lead the direct comparison against the Mallorcans with a record of 18-11-16. The “Celestes” have scored 63 goals in that period, but have also conceded 56 in return. In the first half of the current season, Celta Vigo lost the league encounter against RCD Mallorca 0-1.

They now have the chance to make amends at home. Celta have not lost at home to the Mallorcans since April 2007. The last time RCD Mallorca played at the Galician club’s stadium, Celta won 4-3.

Celta Vigo – Mallorca Tip

Celta Vigo go into Monday’s La Liga match in fine form. The Himmelblauen have not lost any of their last seven league games and have thus made a big jump in the table. In the second half of the season, only six other teams have scored more points than the traditional club from Galicia.

If the “Celestes” carry the recent momentum with them, Celta Vigo should not have too much trouble against a team like RCD Mallorca. The Mallorcans, in contrast to the in-form Himmelblauen, are in a crisis of form and have not won any of their last six league matches.

Tendentely, we think it is obvious to bet on the home side in the league clash between Celta Vigo and Mallorca. For Celta, it would be the third win in the last four home games and also the fourth home game in a row in which they score against the Mallorcans. We are betting six units on this one.
