Lewis with compulsory task against Larsson?

Twice already Adrian Lewis won the World Championship title in the “Ally Pally”. Now the next World Championship adventure of “The Jackpot” starts on Friday evening. The Englishman will meet Daniel Larsson in the first round of the 2023 Darts World Championship and is clearly favoured to win

The bookmakers currently only offer odds of 1.25 on Lewis vs. Larsson for tip 1. Almost a year ago the two players met on the PDC Tour. At that time Lewis defeated the Swedish darts pro 6:4 in the Best-of-11 and now leads the H2H.

Lewis has lost four of his last five matches on tour, including a 6-4 defeat in the first round of the 2022 Players Championship Finals, and the Englishman is now out for redemption at the World Championship.

Daniel Larsson, on the other hand, is not to be underestimated as a supposed underdog. The 41-year-old has already upset a few favourites in recent months. In the Darts World Championship the Swede is nevertheless a blank slate, which is why the role as underdog is understandable.

Adrian Lewis – Statistics & current form

Adrian Lewis last won the World Championship title in 2012, and since then his results in the prestigious tournament in London have been manageable. Last year “The Jackpot” was even eliminated from the competition in the second round. Against Gary Anderson Lewis had to bow out in the best-of-five with 1:3 and was eliminated for the second time in a row in the second round of the World Darts Championship.

This year Lewis is looking for redemption and got at least in the first round a feasible draw. Against Larsson “The Jackpot” starts as clear favourite and builds on his strong record in the first round of the World Darts Championship. So far Lewis has only been eliminated once in the first round of the World Darts Championship in his current career.

If “The Jackpot” can successfully overcome the first round at the World Darts Championship this time as well, odds of 1.25 are paid out for a tip on the Englishman in Lewis vs. Larsson. If the two-time World Champion even celebrates a clear victory without losing a set, odds beyond the 2.00 mark are on offer.

Is Lewis showing an act of defiance after his recent slump in form?

In his last two matches, Lewis averaged less than 90 points in the average. The last time he topped the 90-point three-darts average mark was in a match against Ron Meulenkamp. Nevertheless Lewis lost the match against the Dutchman with 2:6 and the defeat was mainly due to a bad checkout rate.

If Lewis improves the double quota the two-time World Champion should not have too much trouble in the first round of the World Darts Championship. Nevertheless, Lewis is one of the big underdogs when it comes to the World Championship title.

Daniel Larsson – Statistics & current form

Daniel Larsson has flown largely under the radar so far this calendar year. The 41-year-old veteran from Sweden was not represented on the Pro Tour and only competed at the Masters or as an invited player on the European Tour. The last time Larsson played a noteworthy professional match on the European Tour was in Jena.

After Hughes was kicked out of the competition in the first round the world number 137 of the PDC had to bow out against Luke Humphries. In the match with the Englishman Larsson lost 3:6 – despite an average of 89,28. His opponent Humphries convinced with an average of 97,98.

Since then, Larsson has only played two matches in the Hungarian Masters 2022. The 41-year-old won against Pero Ljubic 4:3. But Larsson lost the following match against Kai-Fan Leung with 2:4.

Represented at the World Darts Championship for the fourth time

In the run-up to the 2023 World Darts Championship, the Scandinavian is not really exuding optimism. In addition, the best result in the “Ally Pally” so far was the second round of the World Championship. Larsson achieved that result on his World Championship debut in 2019, where the Swedish darts professional was eliminated by Kim Huybrechts with 0:3.

Last year, on the other hand, Larsson bowed out with a 3-0 defeat to Jason Lowe at Alexandra Palace in London, meaning he was knocked out in the first round of the World Championship for the second year in a row. It is quite possible that the veteran will have to pack his bags early this time as well. Lewis is an unpleasant opponent for the Swede in the first round.

Adrian Lewis – Daniel Larsson Tip

As a two-time World Champion, Lewis will start the World Cup with a broad chest. The Englishman is also looking to make amends after the poor results in recent weeks. After all “The Jackpot” lost four of his last five matches. Before the 2023 World Darts Championship Lewis even lost three matches in a row.

With Larsson Lewis got a feasible hurdle in the first round. The Swede is an unknown quantity in the World Championship and takes part for the fourth time in his career. In the two previous years, the 41-year-old was eliminated in the first round. It is quite possible that this negative trend will continue this year as well.

We expect a clear victory for Lewis and don’t rule out a zero win in the World Cup opener. There is enough potential for this, especially as Larsson has also hardly been convincing in recent months. With a moderate stake of four units, we place our bet on Lewis vs. Larsson at 3:0 for Lewis. Betting odds of up to 2.75 are offered for this.
