Is Leicester slowly getting back on track?
One thing is always clear in football: not every team can play a satisfactory season. Someone is always disappointed. That’s certainly true of Leicester this season, with the Foxes running behind their expectations.
Before the Leicester vs Leeds game, however, the odds indicate a slight favourite for the hosts. Leicester have quality, but too rarely bring it on the pitch. And that could soon cause repercussions in the coaching position.
The Foxes need a win to free themselves up a bit. But that won’t be easy, as opponents Leeds put in a decent performance at the weekend. The game kicks off on Thursday at 21:15.
Leicester – Statistics & current form
Leicester City are one of the teams that have disappointed the most in the Premier League so far. At the weekend, there was a 0-0 against Crystal Palace, in which at least the previously so vulnerable defence could convince. Nevertheless, there was a “Rodgers out” chant, the coach is under criticism. Yet he is certainly not solely responsible for the situation being so bad.
For in the summer, it was Rodgers who demanded several new arrivals and, despite the 80 million euros raised for Wesley Fofana, only received two new players, one of whom was a substitute goalkeeper. And so the question currently arises as to what the other people in charge, who are not at the centre of the criticism, did in the summer. What is important now is that there are reactions, especially on the pitch.
Rodgers still has a residual credit at the club. But Leeds and Wolverhampton are now opponents against whom at least one win should be brought in. That one win has also come so far in the entire season, one game out of ten in the Premier League was won. That is too little for their own standards.
Leicester not infrequently provide entertainment
The problems are not in the offensive. 15 goals in ten games is good value for the Foxes, the split of goals at home and away also fits. The big problem is the defence: Leicester conceded 24 goals, but only five at home. Only Manchester City have conceded more goals this season.
It could be a thrilling game, because none of the Foxes’ last ten home games against Leeds ended in a draw, there was always a winner. Recently, the home side have also shown some slight progress, but that has yet to translate into results on a consistent basis.
Because the Foxes like to concede and are not always solid defensively, but at the same time have a lot of quality up front, our prediction before the Leicester vs. Leeds match is that both teams will score goals.

Leeds – Statistics & current form
Leeds United were hoping to really get back on track with a shake-up in the transfer summer. Important players were left, but above all exciting new players were brought in. Kristensen, Roca, Sinisterra, Aaronson and Adams are just a few examples who came to Leeds in the summer. However, the team did not go beyond a good start.
Coach Jesse Marsch also criticised this on Sunday after the game against Arsenal. Leeds had good chances, were the first team this season to outscore the Gunners after expected goals in a game, but lost 1-0 due to a brilliant moment. Inattentiveness and slight problems in the game forward run through the season.
A look at the statistics shows that. Nine games have been played and Leeds have eleven goals to their name. Five goals were scored away from home, ten were conceded. That shouldn’t be too much of an encouragement ahead of the game at Leicester either, as the hosts are better at home than away.
Leeds also have some problems to overcome
Leeds need points now but have lost three in a row away from home, conceding eight goals in the process. Things often don’t look so good away at Leicester either, in only one of their last 16 games at the Foxes have Leeds gone without conceding a goal. This time, too, the omens do not point to a goalless game.
If Leeds don’t show an improvement in their own performances in the coming weeks, there will be talk of Marsch’s personnel too, that much is certain. Nine points from the nine games so far is no more than average. Because both are decent offensively but like to offer something defensively, ahead of the Leicester v Leeds game our value tip is that more than 2.5 goals will fall.
Predicted Leeds line-up:
Meslier – Kristensen, Koch, Cooper, Ayling – Adams, Roca, Aaronson, Harrison, Rodrigo – Bamford

Leicester – Leeds Direct Comparison / H2H Record
127 times these two teams have met and the direct comparison is quite close. Leicester have won 44 games so far, Leeds even four more. In four of the last five matches in the Premier League both teams scored, Leicester remained unbeaten in three of the last four matches against this opponent. Therefore, despite low odds, we are predicting both sides to score between Leicester and Leeds.
Leicester – Leeds Tip
Leicester and Leeds both have good players in their ranks but have not been able to play consistently at a high level. That should change. Both are highly motivated and want to bring an increase in performance on the pitch.
Based on the statistics and omens, our tip before the Leicester vs Leeds match is that both teams will score.
