Will the Azulones score at Vallecas?
Rayo Vallecano got off to a good start to the season, but have only been able to confirm this to a limited extent recently. The Franjirrojos lost four of their last six league games, but still occupy tenth place in the La Liga table. Now Getafe, currently in 16th place, will be playing at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas.
The team from the Madrid suburbs has not been too successful lately either. However, Getafe have won two of their last four league matches and have scored at least one goal in four of their last five games. Nevertheless, in the run-up to the match between Rayo Vallecano and Getafe, the odds are swinging in the direction of the home side.
Rayo Vallecano have always managed to win at least one half in their last four league games despite two defeats, partly due to the fact that the Franjirrojos have always scored in the second half in their last five matches. However, the Azulones will certainly not arrive without a chance.
Especially away from home, Getafe have always held their own. Quique Sánchez Flores’ side have scored in each of their last six away games, which is why we see the greatest value in betting on the Azulones’ away goal in Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe.
Rayo Vallecano – Statistics & current form
Rayo Vallecano de Madrid is based in the Vallecas district of Madrid. However, apart from one second division championship, the capital club has yet to win any titles in its 98-year history. The club’s greatest success is still the quarter-final of the UEFA Cup 2000/01.
Since then, the Franjirrojos have been waiting to qualify for another international competition. They came close in 2012/13, finishing eighth in the final table. Since then, however, the lift team spent another four years in La Liga 2.
Lost four of their last six league games
Currently, the Madrilenians are back in the mix in La Liga for the second year in a row, finishing a respectable twelfth in the table this summer. Under promotion coach Andoni Iraola, the Vallecas continued that success into the 2022/23 season, taking a point from FC Barcelona 0-0 away at Camp Nou on matchday one.
Recently, however, the Franjirrojos have lost four of their last six league games (two wins) and have lost their way a little. In terms of the table, it is still unclear what to make of tenth place. After all, the lead over the first relegation place is only a deceptive four points.
Five times in a row with second-half goals
Lately, the Iraola eleven has been keeping up well especially in the second halves where they have scored five times in a row recently. In the last four league games, one half has therefore always gone to the Vallecas, who have, however, lost two of these four games also because of sleepy phases.
For the betting companies, however, that is enough to see the Franjirrojos in the role of favourites in this Madrid city duel.

Getafe – Statistics & current form
Getafe Club de Fútbol is based 14 kilometres south of Madrid city centre. Just like city rivals Rayo Vallecano, the Azulones have never won a title.
However, the club, founded in 1983, can look back on a total of three seasons in UEFA competitions, all of which have been quite challenging. In 2007/08, Getafe reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup, where they were beaten only by FC Bayern on the away goals rule. In 2019/20, they went all the way to the Europa League last 16, having previously eliminated Ajax Amsterdam.
Won two of last four league games
The team from the Madrid suburbs finished 15th in the final table and missed out on qualification for a European competition. Quique Sánchez Flores’ team is currently more worried about staying in the league than looking upwards.
At least the Azulones have won two of their last four league games, which means that they are currently above the line in 16th place after eight league games. Last Saturday, however, they lost their home match against Real Madrid with 0:1.
Always scored in the last six away games
The Azulones have to improve first and foremost offensively. On the one hand, they have only scored eight goals in eight league games. And on the other hand, the team simply lacks a goal-scorer. Besides Enes Ünal, Gastón Álvarez, a central defender, is currently the most successful goal scorer in the team of the Madrid suburbs with two goals.
But at least in the last six away games, the Azulones have always scored at least one goal of their own, which is why betting on a goal for the visitors makes a lot of sense for Rayo Vallecano against Getafe. If the defence is good, that could be half the battle in the “derbi madrileño”.

Rayo Vallecano – Getafe Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 11 – 7 – 9
There have been a total of 27 meetings between the two teams so far and the Franjirrojos lead the head-to-head comparison with eleven wins. However, three of the last five encounters have gone to the Azulones (one draw, one defeat).
Rayo Vallecano – Getafe Tip
When it comes to Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe, the prediction does tend to go in favour of the home side, who have picked up three more points so far in the 2022/23 season and have always scored in the second half in their last five league games. However, with four defeats in their last six games, the Franjirrojos have not been overly strong of late. Consequently, the Azulones could well have something to play for.
With Quique Sánchez Flores’ side having scored at least one goal of their own in their last six away matches, we see plenty of value in betting on the Azulones to score an away goal.
