Do the Oilers find their scoring touch again?
All to 0, or rather 2-2 in this series. Because after their two convincing wins before (6-0 and 8-2), the Edmonton Oilers fell back into the old pattern of inconsistency that they already showed for much of the season.
Now it will be really tight for them to finally win a playoff series, and there are also the head and nerves involved. Therefore, the clear favourite position of the Oilers is at least a little bit doubtful.
However, if they can control their nerves, nothing should go wrong at home in Game 5. But since the Canadians lose close games most of the time (especially in the playoffs), 1X is the better alternative for us in betting. But more on that later.
For Oilers vs. Kings, our prediction is definitely a battle of nerves, in which it will be important for Edmonton to take the lead as early as possible. The longer it’s tied, the greater the chances for Los Angeles.
Edmonton Oilers – Statistics & current form
Here we go again with the Oilers’ erratic playoff form. In the first game in LA they shot the Kings with 8:2 out of the arena, only to not get a skate on the ice in the following duel with 0:4.
This means that Game 5 in Edmonton is now of enormous importance. Whoever wins this game will already have one foot in Round 2. Can the Oilers withstand this pressure? It’s not a sure thing.
Oilers can’t keep intensity up
The Oilers’ big problem is in their heads. There’s simply no other way to explain a collapse from 8-2 to 0-4. They felt far too safe after the two easy wins and then couldn’t push the pace when the Kings suddenly stepped on the gas themselves.
In the end, the Californians had a staggering 46 shots to Edmonton’s 31. That describes what happened on Sunday night quite well. The Oilers were literally overrun and then had no plan B in their luggage.
Anything possible for Game 5
So it’s difficult to find good betting options because the Oilers are such a surprise team. We would rate them as the clearly better team, but we would build a safety into our betting.
This is called 1X, which would also cover a very close game and even an overtime defeat. After all, they lost three of the four playoff games in 2021 after overtime. For Edmonton vs. LA, a bet on 1x + Over 5.5 goals is therefore our betting recommendation.

Los Angeles Kings – Statistics & current form
The Kings are doing what they know how to do. They fight and then consistently take advantage of the chances they are given. That’s about as good as it gets with this, on paper, average team.
Still, they have a good chance now to bowl out the Oilers. Why? Because they are clearly stronger in the head. Not only the two Stanley Cup victories in the last ten years, but also their higher age average speak for this.
LA saves strength for the important games
Accordingly, the Kings also know what to do in playoff series. LA won ten of their last 13 playoff series. The Oilers, on the other hand, are only at four wins in their last 13 series – a difference of miles.
So the Kings also know that they can conserve energy when they are down by a few goals – which resulted in the two hefty losses in the series. But they didn’t care, because at the end of the day it’s the series score that counts, and that’s where the score currently stands at 2:2.
Penalty Killing has to be better
But to actually win the series, they need to make some adjustments, including penalty killing. With a 64.3% success rate, the Kings are only in second-to-last place among all playoff teams – that has to improve.
However, if the Kings manage to improve some of their statistics (including their own power play), then something could be in the cards. In Oilers vs. Kings, a bet on LA is still too risky and we favour bets on 1X and many goals, as the 5.5 total goals have been exceeded in three of the four duels so far.

Edmonton Oilers – Los Angeles Kings Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
In the regular season, the Oilers wore the trousers with 3-1 wins, but the regular season just can’t be compared to the playoffs. There, as already mentioned, the Kings have the much better record in recent years (10:3 compared to the Oilers’ 4:9).
Nevertheless, the Oilers should be able to use their home advantage on Tuesday and also score a few goals again, provided they make the most of their chances. Since we doubt that a little bit, 1X is still a little better bet than pure win bets.
For Oilers vs. Kings the odds on 1X are also so low that we should still combine them with over 5.5 goals to achieve a reasonable value. This goal total has been exceeded eight times in Oilers games in the last ten games.
Edmonton Oilers – Los Angeles Kings Tip
The Oilers and their playoff woes. You could write a whole book about them by now, which always makes betting on them a bit of an adventure as well. However, since Edmonton rarely loses big (especially at home), we have found a betting option.
For Oilers vs. Kings, a bet on 1X + Over 5.5 goals is favoured, as it would both hedge a close overtime loss (which is not uncommon for the Oilers) and take into account the fact that 5.5 goals is standard for Oilers games.
As a betting alternative, we would recommend betting on Connor McDavid to score on Tuesday. It is very rare for him to go two games in a row without a point.
