Saudi club Newcastle with the next win in the PL?
The Magpies have fought their way out of the bottom of the table. A few matchdays after the start of the second half of the season, Newcastle United are in a non-relegation spot and have a realistic chance of staying in the English top flight after a disastrous first half of the season. Most recently, the Saudi club even recorded three wins in a row.
For the first time since April 2018, the Magpies are now aiming for a fourth league win in a row. Saturday’s match will be a real test for the relegation-threatened club, with Newcastle visiting WHU. The Londoners have played a sensational season so far and are currently fighting for the right to play in the top flight.
With West Ham winning only one of their last four games in the English top flight, their rivals from Manchester have already passed them by. In addition, the Gunners also reduced the gap to WHU. The bookmakers still see West Ham against Newcastle as favourites according to the odds.
The bookmakers’ comparatively clear assessment is surprising. Newcastle United have won their last two away games against the Hammers. It is quite possible that the Magpies, in their current form, will take three points this time as well.
West Ham – Statistics & current form
The Hammers have folded in recent weeks and have said goodbye to their starting place for the top flight after their mini-crisis. The match against Newcastle is therefore all the more important and trend-setting, especially as WHU will regain fourth place for the time being if they are successful against the Magpies, thus increasing the pressure on United.
The league rivals do not play until Sunday. Nevertheless, the home game against the Magpies is not at all convenient. West Ham have not won at home against Saturday’s opponents since March 2019. Last season WHU went down 2-0 to the Magpies, only losing 3-2 a season earlier.
The only encouraging thing ahead of the match against the Saudi club is the Hammers’ recent goal tally. After all, West Ham United scored at least one goal in all twelve home games at league level this season. It’s quite possible that the streak will continue against the Magpies.
Will the next home win beckon for Moyes & Co.?
In the first half of the season, WHU won the match against Newcastle 4-2, making bets on a high-scoring encounter pay off for the second consecutive time in a match between the two league rivals. If the next offensive spectacle beckons, West Ham vs. Newcastle will pay decent odds for a prediction of over 2.5 goals.
Behind teams like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, WHU has the fourth strongest attack in the Premier League. In total, West Ham have already scored 44 goals in 25 match days – an average of 1.76 goals per league match. Jarrod Bowen played a major part in this.
The Hammers’ winger has already scored 18 goals this season and has been the lynchpin of West Ham’s attacking play. Bowen was involved in both of his side’s goals against Leicester last week and is therefore also set to start against the Magpies. With Ogbonna, Masuaku and Zouma, there are still three absentees for WHU coach Moyes.
Predicted line-up of West Ham:
Fabianski – Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell – Soucek, Rice – Bowen, Lanzini, Fornals – Antonio

02/13 2022 – Leicester 2 – 2 West Ham
02/08 2022 – West Ham 1 – 0 Watford

02/05 2022 – Kidderminster 1 – 2 West Ham

01/22 2022 – Manchester United 1 – 0 West Ham

Newcastle – Statistics & current form
Newcastle United have climbed out of the bottom of the table and head into the rest of the second half of the season with confidence. Not only did the Magpies win two landmark relegation clashes against Leeds and Everton, but they also came through a home game against Aston Villa, meanwhile, in twelfth place in the Premier League table.
On Saturday there is a chance of a fourth PL win in a row – for the first time in almost four years, mind you. The recent form curve ahead of the match against West Ham is encouraging, especially from a defensive point of view. The Magpies have conceded only one goal in the last three matchdays.
Statistically, Newcastle still have one of the weakest defences in the Premier League, conceding 44 goals in 23 matchdays. Only two other teams have conceded more goals in the English top flight than the Saudi club.
Is Newcastle putting away their away woes?
The Magpies’ defence did not make a good impression, especially away from home. On average, Newcastle’s goal has rung twice per away game. With a record of 1-3-6, Newcastle United are the second-weakest away team in the English top flight. The Black and Whites’ only win came in their last away game at Leeds.
The 1-0 win at Leeds was also the first away game this season in which the Magpies did not concede a goal. With Newcastle winning their last two away games against their London opponents, the Black and Whites will travel to their league rivals in London’s East End with a broad chest.
Head coach Eddie Howe has to deal with a number of absences, some of them severe. A total of eight players are in hospital, six of whom will not be available this weekend. Among others, Kieran Trippier, captain of the Magpies, will have to take a break.
Expected line-up of Newcastle:
Dubravka – Schar, Lascelles, Burn – Fraser, Willock, Shelvey, Joelinton, Targett – Wood, Saint-Maximin
Last matches played by Newcastle:

02/13 2022 – Newcastle United 1 – 0 Aston Villa
02/08 2022 – Newcastle United 3 – 1 Everton

West Ham – Newcastle Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
In the first leg of West Ham vs. Newcastle, a bet on the London club already paid off. The Hammers came out on top in an eventful match against their – at the time – stumbling league rivals, turning around an interim half-time deficit in the process.
It was the first time WHU had scored three against Newcastle since March 2019. Prior to that, there had been four consecutive no-wins against the Magpies. West Ham even lost three of the four games – including two home games – against Newcastle.
Across the competition, Newcastle lead the head-to-head comparison against West Ham United. In 139 matches between the two clubs, the Black and Whites have a record of 58-38-43 against the Londoners. An average of 2.93 goals per game has been scored.
West Ham – Newcastle Tip
Newcastle have got back on track under Eddie Howe and have been on an impressive run. The Magpies are, after all, unbeaten at league level since losing to City last December. Three wins in a row in the English top flight followed draws against teams like United and Watford.
As a result, the Saudi club not only climbed to a non-relegation place, but also built up a small points cushion on the relegation zone. The aim is to underpin this winning streak in the away match against WHU. Saturday’s opponent comes in quite handy – at least in view of the recent record between the two clubs.
Newcastle have lost just one of their last five competitive games against WHU. That defeat came in the first half of the season for the Magpies, then under former head coach Steve Bruce. Before that, Newcastle went unbeaten against WHU four times in a row and won two away games in a row during that period.
We therefore think it is not at all unreasonable to place an underdog tip on the Black and Whites this weekend. For West Ham vs. Newcastle, betting odds of up to 5.25 are offered for tip 2. For our prediction, we choose a total of two units.
