Is the Spurs’ winning streak against the Bulls coming to an end?
The Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs meet at the United Center on 02/15/2022 starting at 02:00. The teams already faced each other once this season just over a fortnight ago, and on that occasion the Spurs prevailed at home.
Chicago Bulls – Statistics & current form
Chicago are in second place in the Eastern Conference. However, the table situation in the upper third in the East is very tight and the lead over the sixth place, which would bring the last direct ticket for the postseason, is not large. The most important reason for the successful season so far, however, is the reliable offence.
Only the league leaders in the West from Phoenix, the Hawks and Utah score more points on 100 possessions in the NBA. Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan are particularly deserving in this context.
Their strong season to date in Head Coach Billy Donovan’s squad was also recently rewarded with a respective nomination for the upcoming 2022 All-Star Game in Cleveland.
In the encounter, however, they will square off against each other as LaVine is on Team Durant while LBJ has picked DeRozan. The former shooting guard, however, had to miss the last game due to a knee injury.
Initially, his use against San Antonio did not seem questionable because his absence in the game against OKC was probably only a precautionary measure, which Chicago could afford in view of the easy task against the West’s cellar child in the standings. However, it now seems to be more serious, which is why LaVine will in all likelihood not be playing.
San Antonio Spurs – statistics & current form
The Spurs are currently only 13th in the West, but the gap for the spots that qualify for a Play-In Tournament appearance are within striking distance.
Head Coach Gregg Popovich and his team have lost the majority of their last seven games, but the opponents, Miami and Phoenix, the two top teams in the East and West, have also been tough.
In addition, the visitors also have a current All-Star in Dejounte Murray. The guard replaced the injured Draymond Green from the Warriors and won the award for the first time in his career.
With eleven triple-doubles already, the 25-year-old has the most such performances in the NBA after reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, and there are currently few two-way players of his calibre.
Chicago Bulls – San Antonio Spurs Tip
The Texans take on Chicago, a team with a potent offense. However, the defensive work of the home side is regularly much weaker. Due to this combination, the games of the six-time champions are often accompanied by high results.
For the duel between the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs on 15.02.2022, however, the betting is aimed at more than 31.5 points by DeMar DeRozan. Due to the absence of Zach LaVine, who is suffering from knee problems, this year’s All-Star is now particularly challenged on the offensive end.
The small forward proved that he can cope with this increased workload in the last game against OKC with 38 points. It was also his fifth game in a row with at least 35 points!
Within this review he also scored a season-high 45 points against the Sixers and in this game LaVine was also missing, at that time because of another injury.
