Will the Seahawks lose their last game of the season?
This coming Sunday will be the last round of the regular season in the NFL.
On the last game day, teams from the same division always meet to possibly make the race for the places for the play offs really exciting once again. In the NFC West, however, the seeding of the teams is already relatively clear, with both the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals qualifying for the wild card round.
Despite this, the home team should get a clear win in Arizona on the last matchday, which is why a tip on a Cardinals win seems advisable in the Cardinals vs. Seahawks match. In the last meeting of the two teams, Kyler Murray’s team also kept its nose in front, which is why our prediction also calls for the Arizona team to win in the upcoming clash between the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks.
Arizona Cardinals – Statistics & current form
The current second-placed Cards may already have their sights set on the wild card round of the NFL play offs, where as things stand they would face a thoroughly beatable opponent: the Dallas Cowboys. The Texans were beaten 25-22 by the Cardinals just last week, so the team from Arizona has a realistic chance of advancing to the next round.
However, before they can start the play-offs, they will face the Seattle Seahawks at home. The last time the two teams met, star quarterback Kyler Murray had to miss the game due to an ankle injury. His replacement QB Colt McCoy, however, gained more than 328 yards and two touchdowns, which ultimately gave the Cardinals a win. With Murray, who also scored two touchdowns last game day, somewhat back to his dominant form from the spring, nothing should stand in the way of a win for the Cards.
How much do the Cardinals need to take it easy?
The running back position in particular should be a thorn in the Cardinals’ side. James Conner was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice due to problems with his heel, while Chase Edmonds didn’t even show up for Thursday’s practice due to complications with his ribs and toes. However, these two could already be spared for the play offs.
Nevertheless, Murray is not lacking for starting positions, in the current season he regularly plays five different players, among them A.J. Green or also Zach Ertz. With that said, in the Cardinals vs. Seahawks game, our prediction is that Arizona’s offense will shift to the passing game. In the last encounter, the Seahawks QB managed to sack four times. So he will be under pressure in the upcoming game as well.
Key Players:
QB: Kyler Murray
RB: Eno Benjamin
WR: A.J. Green
TE: Zach Ertz
LB: Chandler Jones
Seattle Seahawks – stats & current form
The Seattle Seahawks, however, come into their final game of the season with their heads held high. Last week, Russel Wilson’s team managed a 51-29 win in which he threw four touchdown passes and not a single interception himself. In turn, Seattle’s defence managed to get the ball out of the air three times, so they were very good at shutting down the Lions’ passing game – but have otherwise not done so well so far this season.
How do the Seahawks end their season?
The last-place finishers in the NFC West haven’t had a realistic shot at an NFL playoff berth in quite some time. After the Cardinals vs Seahawks matchup, our guess is that the Seattle team will finish their season with a standing of six wins to eleven losses.
Because rumour has it that this could be Russell Wilson’s last game as Seahawks quarterback. However, he was in top form last game day, much like his passing defence. In contrast, however, the pass rush was hardly convincing against the Lions, with not a single sack being scored by the Seahawks.
With Rashaad Penny, however, the Seahawks’ running game could prove more dangerous than in Week 11 when the teams last met. The latter scored 170 yards of space and two touchdowns last game day. Still, the Seattle team has the expectations as well as the odds against them in the Cardinals vs. Seahawks game, with neither fans nor bookmakers realistically expecting a win.
Key Players:
QB: Russell Wilson
RB: Rashaad Penny
WR: Tyler Lockett
WR: DK Metcalf
LB: D.J. Reed
Arizona Cardinals – Seattle Seahawks Head-to-head comparison / H2H record
As previously described, the Seahawks find themselves in the clear underdog position in this game. If the Cardinals have found back to their old strength from the beginning of the season, they will hardly give the team from Seattle chances to seriously trouble them.
The Cardinals are averaging 26.2 points, almost four points more than their Seattle counterparts. The passing game is also much more successful on average. The Seahawks are gaining 50 yards less space than the Cards, but are allowing significantly more themselves.
Arizona Cardinals – Seattle Seahawks Tip
While there is nothing left at stake for the Seahawks, the Cardinals can still improve their position in the NFL Wild Card round with a win, which is why they will do everything they can to finish the last game in the regular season successfully.
But both quarterbacks seem to be in a very good shape at the moment, which is why the odds of over/under bets can become especially interesting in the Cardinals vs Seahawks game. However, a Cardinals win will be the most likely outcome of this encounter.
