Magpies with new confidence?
Leicester welcome the finally redeemed kickers from Newcastle. Last weekend was the first time a win was enough for the visitors. A shaky 1-0 win over Burnley ended the Mapgies’ drought, while also handing the red lantern in the Premier League table to Norwich.
The hosts, for their part, were last to go down to defeat at Aston Villa and once again confirmed their lack of consistency: with five wins, six defeats and four draws, the Foxes are having an average season and consequently only occupy eleventh place in the table.
For the clash between Leicester and Newcastle, bet on both sides to score.
Leicester – Statistics & current form
The Foxes cannot rely on a home bonus in the upcoming match: In front of their own backdrop, their record is also only balanced with three wins and three defeats each, as well as a draw. One problem of the 2016 champions is their shaky defence. Only one of the seven games played at home in the King Power Stadium ended with a clean sheet!
Against this backdrop, the odds on more than 2.5 goals in the clash between Leicester and Newcastle are equally attractive. This is also supported by the fact that the home side’s offence is quite capable of scoring. Only five teams in the Premier League score more goals than coach Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Due to the combination of an efficient attacking line with an unsound defence, Leicester’s matches are very high-scoring. On average, 3.3 goals have been scored per league match so far. A value that the Reds alone top in a league-wide comparison.
Vardy with room for improvement
However, Jamie Vardy has lost ground in the attack. The striker is second only to Liverpool’s Mo Salah in the scoring charts with nine goals, but in his last eight competitive games the former Three Lions has only managed a brace in the win over Watford at the end of November.
Most recently, he has only made one substitute appearance. A measure taken by coach Rodgers, which is naturally not very well received by the Foxes’ supporters.
Foxes have already been challenged in Europe this week
In addition, the home side will be a little tired as they also had to play in the Europa League last Thursday. The match with Napoli ended with a 2:3 defeat and, in addition to their continued participation in the competition, also cost them a lot of energy.
Another reason for the Foxes’ limited success in these weeks is the injury to Youri Tielemans. The Belgian international is missing due to a hip injury and his absence in the defensive midfield obviously cannot be compensated.
Predicted Leicester line-up:
Schmeichel – Castagne – Evans – Söyüncü – Thomas – Ndidi – Dewsbury-Hall – Barnes – Maddison – Lookman – Daka

Newcastle – Statistics & current form
The Magpies can win after all: The win against Burnley was close, but deserved given the course of the game, which saw a significant increase in chances compared to the Clarets. The decisive goal was once again scored by Callum Wilson.
The attacker has already scored half a dozen goals this season and is once again the strongest goal-scorer on the side of the second-bottom team, who alone is responsible for more than a third of all goals scored by the visitors. Wilson also scored in the penultimate league game to secure at least a point for the Magpies in their draw with Norwich.
Will Wilson strike again?
In light of his current renewed efficiency in front of opposing goalkeepers, the odds on his next goal celebrations come in handy for the Leicester-Newcastle match. The prediction is backed up by the recent clash with Leicester, in which Callum Wilson scored twice.
Wilson is particularly important at the moment, as his strike partner Joe Willock, who was Newcastle’s second-best scorer last season, has not yet been able to build on his good performances from last year. The 22-year-old is still waiting for his first goal after 13 appearances in the league.
Predicted Newcastle line-up:
Dubravka – Lascelles – Lewis – Schär – Manquillo – Almiron – Shelvey – Willock – Saint-Maximin – Joelinton – Wilson

12/04 2021 – Newcastle United 1 – 0 Burnley

11/27 2021 – Arsenal London 2 – 0 Newcastle United
11/20 2021 – Newcastle United 3 – 3 Brentford
11/06 2021 – Brighton 1 – 1 Newcastle United
Leicester – Newcastle Direct Comparison / H2H Record
The Magpies won the last direct encounter 4-2 away from home. The pairing now has three away wins in a row! It was also United’s first win after four previous defeats in the league and EFL Cup. For the upcoming edition of Leicester vs Newcastle, however, the odds are already leaning towards a win for the Foxes again.
Leicester – Newcastle Tip
City have been one of the disappointments in the Premier League this season. In eleventh place, the home side are well below their standards. For the clash between Leicester and Newcastle, the forecast includes a goal celebration on both sides. The weak defence of the visitors is the main reason for a goal by the hosts.
Only last-placed Norwich concede more goals in the British top flight. On the other hand, the first win of the season last weekend should have given the Magpies a boost in self-confidence. In addition, at least Callum Wilson is in good form.
The expectation that the Foxes will concede at least one goal is fed on top of their parallel unsafe defence. Without the injured Tielemans in front of the defence, the home side’s back line is shaky – only one clean sheet was recorded in the seven home games.
Furthermore, Rodgers’ side have already faced Napoli in the Europa League this week, so the visitors will be hoping for a somewhat tired defence on top of that. Betway are offering odds of 1.60 on the match between Leicester and Newcastle.
